He had always known what he was going to be. The mystical side of religion had always appealed to him, and he knew from a young age that he wanted to be a priest. His parents had said it was a true "calling."
When he got to the temple, he found that this "calling" was what he wanted. He threw himself into his work, and soon caught the eye of Priest Sanzo. The then-Priest Sanzo had told him that it wasn't just a "calling;" it was a "vocation."
And from then on, he was groomed to be the next Sanzo priest, successor to two sacred sutras. He picked up smoking, drinking, and folding paper airplanes from his master, whom he looked up to. And when he inherited the title and scriptures, he did his best to make his predecessor proud.
If he ever heard one, he always followed a "calling."
