IRRATIONALITY:
Rikku likes to contradict herself.
Gippal sees it. How she's loud and rowdy and reckless and impulsive (but not), and makes choices too fast (or not fast enough). She's stuck between perceptive and judging (never one or the other) and always full of logic that proves her logic wrong or vice versa (wait, what?). It doesn't look like it most of the time, but it's there. It's obvious (not) and there (or maybe here) and all Rikku. Gippal sees it. Never misses it. Never encourages it.
"No."
Rikku pouts and asks why in that childish way of hers, waving her arms at him and peering into his eyes. His one eye. Then she glares. Crosses her arms and glares into his (one) eye and declares that he lets her go -- she's grown up. She's not a kid. Not anymore.
"You are a kid, Cid's girl."
And she growls, bites back at him in that cute (but totally not) way of hers and bounces on the balls of her feet, looking as aggravating and persistent as ever. She never gives up (all the time) and Gippal smirks, grimaces when Rikku fakes a swing at him and laughs hard enough to catch others' attention. "Fine. Whatever. Since you think you're so grown up, Cid's girl."
And she claims she is. Claims that she's strong and full of assurance (or more like shit) and that she knows what she's doing, will succeed at what she's doing and Gippal sees it. Never misses it. Never encourages it.
"You won't last a day, kid."
Because Rikku's too full of ambiguity to even set a foot on Thunder Plains.
