Andre walks up on stage after getting an idea during a rehearsal at the Opera:

Andre: Please folks, can I have your attention please?

Attention please.

I can deal with a troubled cast with a wave of my hand,

Yes, my right hand.

Please observe me and stay still.

I'm Gilles Andre, if you will.

And I'm here to reorganize our great big orchestra!

Oh, think, good friends, how can any soprano ever compete with a new trombone?

Raa-Raa-Ra-Ti-Ta-Ta-Ta-Ta-Raa-Raa!

Remember good friends what a couple of trumpet players did to the giant big walls of Jericho!

Oh, the great opera walls come a tumblin' down!

Oh a new band will do, my friends.

Oh, yes, I said a new band, did you hear me?

I said the Opera needs a new band and I mean she needs it today!

And with me, Gilles Andre on hand,

The Opera's gonna have a new band,

And as sure as that we are in France,

And that band's gonna have a uniform!

Freddy, William, Bobby, Ted.

And you'll see the glitter of shining trumpets

And hear the thunder of our new drums!

And the shimmer of trombones!

Ta-Ta-Ra!

And you'll feel something close to the hysteria and thrill

Like we all can enjoy when Mozart, Tchaikovsky, the great Beethoven, Brahms, and even Arthur Sullivan are all honored with our great, historic band!

Seventy-six trumpets play the overture

With a hundred-and-ten flutists playing fine!

They will play rows and rows

Of the finest musicals

Just like all those very famous bands!

Seventy-six trumpets caught the public's eye

With a hundred-and-ten flutists right behind.

There are more than a thousand reeds

For they're what we need.

They'll be horns of every shape and kind!

There are lots of great instruments with great musicians.

Thundering, thundering the whole entire way.

All of them have talent, oh yes, much talent,

Everyone having their big fat say!

There are people who have played instruments all their life.

Thundering, thundering louder, yes I'm sure!

Great trombones in every size and also they can improvise a whole octave higher than the score!

Orchestra: Seventy-six trumpets lead our great new band!

While a hundred-and-ten flutists play, okay!

To the rhythm of "play, play, play!"

We all begin to play

So let's start to play right away!
