Time does not heal all wounds, it picks at them and makes them itch with infection as the seconds pass by and life and all hope of happiness slips away. They, the ones who believe in such nonsense of time being a healer, say Rose has become bitter and cynical. She merely tells them she's grown worldly.
He would never say such foolish things in a vain attempt to comfort her. He wouldn't need words; his presence alone would stem her tears and bring a sense of calmness over the young blonde.
