"It's not fair," Roxas whispered when he saw Axel walk into his room.

"I know it's not," Axel said, slowly making his way to Roxas' bed. "How bad is it? What's happened this time?"

"You'd know if you could see," Roxas said, angrily.

"And you know that I can't," Axel said, sitting on the edge of the bed. He ran his hads over Roxas' cheeks, softly, just in case one of the wounds were there.

"So does everyone else," Roxas whispered bitterly, even as he pushed his cheek into Axel's hand. "Just like everyone else knows that we're going out. Just like every-fucking-one else knows that they can hurt you, without having to beat up the blind guy, by hurting me twice as much."

"I'm sorry," Axel said, pulling his hands away from Roxas' face, turning his unseeing gaze away from the direction of his boyfriend. "I'm sorry, and you know I'm sorry. I can't do anything about it." His nails were digging into his palms. "I can't do a goddamn thing. I can't... I can't protect the love of my life from a pain that I caused because I can't fucking see." He felt his nails break his skin.

"I hate it," Roxas said, unfeelingly. "Why can't you just..." he couldn't think of anything to say. "Just..." Roxas rolled onto his side and curled up into a ball. "I hate you," he whispered.

"I know," Axel mumered, feeling for Roxas, then spooning up behind him, hugging him tightly. "I know, and I'm so sorry. Fuck."

"I hate you so much."

"I know."

"And I hate that I can't stop loving you," Roxas said, and Axel could hear a hitch in his voice. Roxas wasn't crying, though, Axel knew that. Roxas never cried. "Life would be so much eaiser if I'd never met you."

"I know."

They lay that way for a while, Roxas' breathing choking from holding back tears and Axel holding him tightly from behind. "You're bleeding," Roxas finally whispered, taking the hand that Axel hand been digging his nails so deeply in just moments ago.

"Oh," Axel said, "I didn't know."

A few more minutes of silence, then Roxas broke it again.

"Don't ever leave me."

"I won't."
