Amelia soon talked to Bailey and gave the news to both Carina and Wilson. The patient was in an induced coma to prevent more seizures episodes that could bring danger to both woman and baby. As she was walking towards the parking lot after her long day, her phone buzzed with a text message. Immediately she thought it was Arizona sharing her travel details, but was in shock when saw Kai's name on the screen.
"Thinking about you today… can we talk, sometime? I want to know how are you these days"
Idiot. That was Amelia's first thought. After all they did, why in hell they want to know about her. Soon the anger turned into sadness. Amelia felt like an idiot herself. She shouldn't feel like that over someone so selfish and careless like Kai, but she was still insecure and damaged from all her previous relationships, always thinking less of herself.
Later that night, Arizona texted Amelia with all the details from her flight and schedule, finishing the message with: "Can't wait to see you all".
That made Amelia smile. She definitely would love to have a good friend back around, at least for a few days. That would certainly ease Amelia's mind from all that mess.
Arizona arrived in Seattle two days later and went straight to Grey-Sloan. As soon as she stepped in the hospital, Meredith saw her.
"Arizona! Hi" – The general surgeon greeted her, kind of surprised.
"Meredith! Oh my God, it's good to see you!" – Arizona hugged her friend.
"You too. What are you doing here? Please, tell me you're coming back" – Meredith joked, but deep down wishing that was true. Everybody missed her there.
"Just for a few days. Shepherd handed me a case" – Arizona answered.
They were walking towards the attending's lounge and talking about both of their lives.
"I've read all about your extraordinary work with Parkinson. It was brilliant!" – Arizona told Meredith.
"Thank you. It was hard, but very exciting to take this first step. And how are things in New York?" – Meredith asked.
"They're fine. I mean, live in the same city as Sofia is heaven, but New York is a hard city to get used to. It makes me miss Seattle a lot more than I thought so" – Arizona said, a little sad.
"Well, I'm not the best person to tell you nice things about anywhere else. I'm trying to leave this city for years and haven't accomplished it yet"- Meredith quipped.
At this moment, Amelia entered the room and opened a huge smile when she spotted Arizona in there. Amelia really liked to work with her, but more than that, she really feel connected with Arizona. She didn't know exactly why, but it felt comfortable to talk to her, to know she had been through a lot too. They were both survivors, even though the reasons were very different.
"Arizona!" – Amelia hugged her friend.
"Hi, Amelia! It's good to see you!" – Arizona said.
"You, too. How was your flight?" – Amelia asked.
"It was ok. I wish it was shorter, though" – Arizona said. 'Till this day, flying was really hard for her.
"Let's go see our patient?" – Amelia invited and they both left the room.
