The Importance Of Water
by: Strike to Incinerate
Pairing: Demyx and Vexen.
Fate seems to recreate, I just cannot escape, something holds me down and makes me act a way I can't explain.
Even now I can feel it coming over me choking me, as I'm falling behind... You can say you know me, but you have no clue what my dreams could show you.

Vexen hated it when the neophytes called him 'hag', or some other chronologically-degrading name.
The first reason was rather simple; at 27, he was not old. The wrinkles and slight dark circles on his eyes were from sleepless nights doing research for Ansem the Wise, and now Xemnas, and from having to deal with people like him.
Marluxia liked to throw it in his face that he looked young and beautiful, and he was so much stronger, despite the fact that his element was Flowers, and he carried a big pink scythe.
The second reason was slightly more complex; Even had also been proud. As his Other had liked to say, what did you have if you didn't have your pride?
But, as Marluxia liked to say, 'What did a Nobody have if they didn't have their looks? What could they offer the opposite sex? Or any sex? Certinaly not love!'
Vexen's answer was considered feeble by most in the Organization. He had Demyx.
"At least Vexen doesn't have pink hair, Marluxia!" Demyx always said in the Chilly Academic's defense.
To no one's surprise, Demyx was the only one allowed into Vexen's lab, aside from Lexaeus and Zexion. Number IV wasn't going to begrudge anything to the only person who stuck up for him. Lexaeus and Zexion and Xigbar had never bothered to come to his defense, and he had known them when they all had had hearts.
Marluxia, of course, merely laughed at Demyx, who would never really stand up to him if it came to combat. He'd back down and hide behind the chemist, who'd then order the Graceful Assassin out of his lab.
Despite having only the Melodious Nocturne as a lame comrade, Vexen had to smile sometimes. While flowers needed warmth, sunlight, and water to survive, ice only needed water to exist. The Chilly Academic had never thought it ironic that Demyx was all he needed, too.
