Leaving Home

To say Vaan wasn't thrilled when Reks announced he'd be going off to war was a vast understatement. He was furious and hurt. Not only was his last remaining family member going off to war, but to make matters worse, Reks wasn't particularly adept at fighting, so Vaan feared that his brother would face an early death. He begged and pleaded with Reks not to go, but he had no affect on his brother's decision. Reks tried to point out that he was fighting for Vaan, so he could keep his younger brother safe.
Vaan then pointed out that if (and this was a big if for them; neither could truly fathom the possiblility of Dalmasca losing the war. There was no way Dalmasca could just…be gone) the Archadians won and Reks was still off somewhere, Vaan would be in danger then. Reks shook his head, stating proudly that Dalmasca would stand strong and fight off the enemy.
They had no idea just how wrong they were.
AN: Another short story, this one about Vaan and Reks. I haven't published a FFXII work before, although I have been working on one sporadically. So...yeah.
