Disclaimer: I own none of the characters, except Raien...he's MINE!
Okay I'm back with chapter 2! Quicker than I expected. I like to thank all who have reviewed!!! I didn't expect to get this many for the first part.
Anyway, I'm glad you ppl like the Raien pic. I'm working on a better on, so if you want to see the old or new one when I finish leave a message.
This chapter is in Rei's POV for a while.
Chapter One – Unexpected
Waking up this morning was the start of freedom. It finally was the weekend and I had just finished all my exams that I had. Evil school gave me all the difficult subjects in the same semester. I'll be more the grateful to whatever gods are out there if I get 80 and over.
Since the long weekend was starting a lot of my friends had gone away to cottages and resorts. Unfortunately for me my parents don't spend a lot of time at home and I'm stuck here for the weekend. My best friend Lee had invited me to go with his family but I couldn't get a hold of my parents. As sad as it may sound and as old as I am my parents still feel the need that I tell them where I'm going. I respect them for that but sometimes it can be a big nuisance.
I woke up to the sun rays on my face. As heavenly as it sounds it was rather annoying. I wanted my sleep, since I had pulled semi-all nighters in attempt to study all the subjects.
Giving in, I woke up. Being the lazy-weekender that I am I decided to leave getting dressed and washed up till later. I figured I could go get something to eat from the kitchen and then do what I haven't done for quite awhile; watch cartoons. I know what you're thinking; an eighteen year-old watching cartoons. Well I'm not letting go of them. No one does...well I think at least.
Getting back, I sat eating a bowl of random cereal on the couch watching corny but funny cartoons. After the cartoons got really boring I decided that it was time to get up. Dumping the dishes in the sink, I made my way upstairs and to the bathroom.
After showering, I went back to my room to change. Being a nice day out, I put on a pair on black jeans and a yellow t-shirt. Not bothering to dry my hair fully I tied it loosely, knowing that the odds of anyone I know seeing me were low. I thought I would go outside and relax for a bit.
I walked around the town for a bit. The only thing this town was known for was the university. Other than that we're just a tiny speck on a map. I walked down towards the park. Finding an area with no other people, I sat down sideways on one of the benches. Bringing my knees up, I wrapped my arms around them and rested my right cheek on my knees. I may have looked sad, from the position, but truthfully I was just happy to be there.
I don't know how long I sat there for. I decided to open my eyes. In my view appeared to be a guy a bit older than me. He had grey bangs, and dark blue hair. I couldn't see his eyes. He appeared to be...drawing...me. A blush and a smile crept onto my face. Not letting him notice I was watching a closed my eyes a bit. He looked up for another glance. Looking down at his sketch his erased something and made adjustments, was my guess.
I let a few more minutes go by. When he didn't look up again, curiosity hit me and literally dragged me over to him.
Now here I was standing in front of this guy, who I don't know, who is drawing me, and to top it off is a few years older. He hasn't realized I'm standing in front of him yet. I decided to speak first.
"Um..." I trailed off unsure of what to say. I guess he heard this cause he looked up, jumping slightly when he realized I was here instead of there. I was now staring into vermillion eyes. Funny, I wrote about eyes like these yesterday on my English exam. Funny how life works. I decided to be blunt and get it out.
"Um...-can I see your drawing?" nice Rei. Get it out. His facial expression didn't change. He only brought the sketch a bit closer to him. That's not the reaction I wanted. I guess this guy is protective of his work.
"I won't criticize it. I promise. I just want to look. Please?" I held my hands out a bit, fingers curled in a fist and palms facing the ground as my sign of respect. He seemed to catch on to time to my body language. He handed the sketch book over and murmured something like, "...it's not finished yet."
I took the sketch book from him sitting down next to him with a bit of space between us. Not that I'm scared, it's just feels a bit uncomfortable asking a stranger something. I looked at the picture and silently gasped. It looked exactly like me as well as the surroundings. I looked up to where I was sitting and then back at the picture. Tearing my gaze away from the sketch I turned to the guy sitting next to me.
"This is really good. You're really talented. I'm almost ashamed to be in this." I told him. I really was. It was impressive.
He didn't seem to smile but replied, "thanks." I handed the sketch book back over to him. Feeling uninvited, I decided that I better leave. I got up and stood facing him. He looked up at me.
"Um...well, thanks for letting me see the sketch. It was worth it. Anyway, I...uh...better go. Bye" I said, unable to find the right words. I wanted to leave as soon as possible. I started to quickly walk away when he called out.
"I'm Kai." Was all he said. Weird but I turned around. I gave him a small smile and told him my name.
"Rei." I said. I gave a small nod and walked away.
Normal POV
Kai sighed and flopped down onto the bench. He had made a fool out of himself in front of a high school student. He didn't know what he was thinking letting Rei see the sketch. He didn't know what it was, but all his answers had just walked away. Sighing, he closed the sketch book and put it in his bag s well as the pencils.
Slinging the bag over his shoulder he decided to go back to campus. Walking back the road he took earlier, he came to the golden gates that were at the entrance of Hemlington University. Walking up through the enterance he quickly walked into the main hall.
And as if the gods were against him, his best friend Raien was sitting over by the stairs with his girlfriend, Andhera.
Andhera was quite a bit shorter than Raien's 5'10 height. She was about 5'5, amethyst eyes, scarlet hair that was tied in a lose braid with a few lose stands randomly falling around her head. She was wearing a knee length black jean skirt thats a bit longer on the left/back, a violet fleece sweater, rolled up at the elbows, a watch, and black, platfrom slip-on sandals. On her wrists were a few silver bracelets, and hanging around her neck was a silver necklace with a heart shaped locket pendant. The locket had a black stone on it.
Raien was still dressed the same as when Kai left earlier. He wore a shirt that was orange at the bottom and faded to a white near the collar. Over that he had a blue opened shirt, and blue jeans completed the look.
She and Raien were sitting on the stairs talking to one another. Not groping like another couple off to the corner of the hall. Kai made his way over to the stairs, the only way of getting to his room. Raien saw him approach and grinned at him. Andhera, turned to see who Raien was looking at. She smiled at Kai.
"Decide you weren't welcomed in town, and that the only people who like you are here, and that you should have stayed here with your friends?" teased Raien. Kai walked by Raien giving him a slap up the side of the head.
"Ow..."
"You deserved that." Said Andhera quietly. Raien gave her a hurt looked. She quickly gave him a hug, falling for his look.
Kai continued on his was upstairs. He just wanted to get to his room where he could think. Reaching the second floor he quickly walked down the hall and unlocked his door, and stepped in.
Okay there's chapter two! I know not much, but hey, Rei and Kai met. Anyway, I hope to get the next chapter out soon.
