Disclaimer: I own none of the Beyblade characters. Raien is mine and Andhera is Andhera's.

I'm shocked that so many people like this fic. Must be the KaixRei. LoL. Only a few are reading it for Raien. LoL. J/K.

Well here's the fourth chapter.

Chapter Four – We Meet Again

It had been a week since Kai had seen Rei last. By now all the high school students were back in school starting their second semester. Kai, having no classes that day was at work. He was working at Hemlington Hospital. He was in training and assisted Dr. Young. Kai was one of the lucky five who got the opportunity to work under the supervision of one of the head doctors at the hospital.

Currently Kai and Dr. Young were at the floor's reception desk going through files. A nurse walked over the Dr. Young and handed him a file. He opened it and looked over the contents.

"There's a patient for you in room 218. Fractured Tibia & Fibula. Not severe though. The patient has morphine, but is still feeling some pain. Anyway he's all your's for now." Said the nurse. Dr. Young nodded, and walked over to the room with Kai in toll. Entering the room Kai stopped in his tracks. If this wasn't a coincidence he didn't know what to call it then. There one the bed sat Rei with his leg propped up and ice wrapped around it. Kai snapped out of his daze and walked into the room. Rei seemed surprise to see Kai there but snapped out of it when Dr. Young came to his side.

"I heard we had a nice fall Mr. Kon. How are you feeling?" asked Dr. Young. Rei contemplated over what he said for a few moments.

"A little dizzy, and my leg hurts still." Said Rei. Dr. Young took off the ice packs setting them aside. Kai came to stand at his side inspecting as well. Dr. Young gently poked and prodded receiving reactions from Rei.

"Well it's reactive so no nerves were damaged. It isn't a severe case. I've had some where the bone has broken through the skin." He said not taking his eyes off his work.

"Ouch. That must have been really painful, especially if they were still conscious." Said Rei laughing a bit and then wincing in pain.

"Well I don't think we're going to have to put any plates and bolts here. I think a plaster cast will work just fine. Kai, will you go and grab that cart over there." Dr. Young said pointing behind them. Kai nodded and walked over to the cart pushing it towards the bed. Dr. Young gave his thanks. "Now Rei I need to lie down." Rei complied. Dr.Young took a needle from the tray. He checked for air bubbles before injecting Rei's leg with the anesthetic. After a few moments Rei's leg was numb.

"Kai hold down the leg. Now Rei, I'm just going to get the bone to align a bit closer. It's already close; it just needs to move a bit more so that you get a full recovery." Dr. Young said. Kai hesitantly did so. He then grabbed a clamp and set it around Rei's leg bringing the two sides closer. He then removed the clamp and removed his hands from Rei's leg. Dr. Young then slipped a lining over the leg after cleaning it.

"Paging Dr. Young. Please go to Intensive Care immediately. Dr. Young, Intensive care immediately." Rang the P.A system.

"Kai can you finish it. Simple procedure. I'll have another doctor in here in a while." Said Dr. Young before leaving Kai and Rei alone. Kai stood there for a while. Rei noticing that nothing was going on propped himself on his elbows.

"Hey. Everything all right?" asked Rei seeing the look on Kai's face. Kai snapped out and nodded.

"Yea, sorry about that."

"No problem." Said Rei smiling. Kai smiled back slightly unable to keep his regular mask on. He grabbed a strip and dipped it in the plaster. Bring it quickly over to Rei's leg he placed it on and wrapped it around. While this was happening he took Rei's appearance in. He had his hair still bound except the bandanna he had on the other times was missing. He also noticed that Rei had a lithe form and nice legs. His mind went blank.

'Kai, what the hell are you thinking about him like that? Head out of gutter please.' He thought to himself. Silence filled the room afterwards. Rei wasn't having a much easier time either.

'I never in a million years that he would be this close to me again. He draws and he's in training to be a doctor. Both times it's involved me. What are the odds.' Thought Rei as Kai continued the place the plaster strips on. Deciding to get Kai to talk Rei got up on his elbows.

"That stuff looks nasty." Said Rei. Kai smirked.

"Well you better get used to it. Once this hardens it will be your 'worst enemy' for the next twelve weeks." Said Kai. He heard Rei groan and flop back down on the bed. He smiled at the drama.

'He's got a sense of humour at least. Even if it's sarcastic.' Thought Rei as he stared at the white tiled ceiling. He snapped his head up when he heard Kai talk.

"So how exactly did you do this? I didn't get to look at the file. Dr. Young said you fell? Must've been bad." Asked Kai.

"It was nasty, also a little embarrassing." Said Rei who was now playing with a strand of hair. Kai smiled finishing his work. He leaned over the railing.

"How bad?" Rei looked at him.

"Bad enough that half the school saw."

"Sports?"

"No."

"Fall of the stage?"

"No."

"Okay, what is it then? I mean the only way you could do something this serious is if you fell down the stairs." Said Kai. He watched a blush come over Rei's face.

"Oh." Rei smiled and laughed at Kai.

"It was graceful at least, or that's what my friend told me. He said I took out the math teacher on my way done as well." Said Rei laughing. Kai smiled and chuckled at the luck of the kid. They where soon disturbed by an 'ahem' at the door. Kai turned his head and saw a doctor looking at them with an almost disproving scowl on his face.

"Are you done Hiwatari? I'd hate to have to tell Dr. Young that your slacking." Said the doctor. Kai shook his head, and moved away so that the doctor could take a look. From behind the doctor Kai made a face that showed Rei that the doctor was a total idiot.

'Well you did a good job. Now Mr. Kon do you have any way of contacting your parents?" said the doctor. Rei shook his head negatively.

"How are you planning on getting home then?" Rei's face went blank. Kai could see the worry and hesitation in his golden eyes. Deciding to help the kid out Kai interfere.

"Sir, this is a friend of mine. I was going to take him home when I finish here, which is in about a hour." Said Kai turning his eyes quickly to Rei.

"As long as he has a ride home by a responsible and trustworthy friend I don't mind. I'm just going to need him to answer a few forms since there isn't a caretaker for him, which reminds me, do you have any other family members or emergency contacts that can be notified of our injury?" asked the doctor. Rei seemed to think for a few seconds before answering.

"Um, well my neighbour is registered at school as an emergency contact though I don't have the number. I know the school has it."

"That will do. I'll get the number and then call them. Fro now just stay here. Hiwatari, since Dr. Young is busy you are dismissed for today. Wait till a nurse comes and explains to your friend and then you can leave." The doctor said before leaving. Kai turned back to Rei breathing out a sign of relief.

"Not your favourite is he?" asked Rei smiling. Kai shook his head.

"He's another one of the heads. He takes the reports form Dr. Young on my progress and then adds his own comments. So far I'm hard-s.working but could improve on my personality. Like his is any better." Said Kai taking a seat next to Rei on the bed. The two sat in an uncomfortable silence once again.

"I..."

"So..." they both said at the same time blushing followed by a few chuckles.

"You first." Said Kai.

"Oh ok, I just wanted to thank you for taking me home. I don't like hospitals. No offense though." Said Rei forgetting what Kai was doing in the hospital.

"None taken. I don't really like the hospital much either. I'm here because I was placed here." Said Kai. A while longer, a nurse came and did what the doctor had ordered. Thirty minutes later after a review of walking with crutches Rei was escorted out of the hospital with Kai at his side.

"Stay here. I'll get my truck." Said Kai leaving Rei to sit on one of the random benches. He looked around and noticed that there were two people staring at him. He saw the girl jab the guy in the ribs before walking over to Rei.

"Um...hey. You were one of the waiter's at Kazie's that served us right?" Rei traced his memory for the familiar face. When the silver-haired guy walked up Rei remembered them being with Kai.

"Oh yeah. You were sitting with Kai, right?" Receiving two nods he gave himself a pat on the back.

"What happened?" asked Raien rather bluntly.

"He fell. Are you going to be mothering him now as well?" came a voice from behind. Raien and Andhera turned around to see Kai standing there with his Jeep.

"Oh hey Kai. We were just coming to drag you out of there. I'm surprised that you actually left on time." Said Raien. He was surprised when he received an 'hn' from Kai instead of an insult.

"Dr. Young is in I.C.U so I got discharged, plus I offered to take Rei home since he has now way of getting home." Raien raised his eyebrows an asked a silent question to Andhera.

'Kai? Giving help?' Andhera just shrugged. Kai walked over to Rei and helped Rei up.

'It's a good thing I haven't forgotten how to use crutches." Said Rei, as he tried to think of something else while Kai helped him into the Jeep. The closeness between the two was affecting him.

"Not the first time you've broken something?" asked Kai. Rei shook his head.

"Nope. Though last wasn't as painful." Said Rei. Kai flashed him a smile before closing the door. Rei blushed, and his breath caught in his throat for a moment. Kai walked over to the driver's side of the jeep. He looked up and saw Raien and Andhera standing there.

"Kai would you be nice and give us a ride. It seems someone decided on walking." Said Andhera giving Raien an accusing look.

"Me? I did it for you." Said Raien. They looked over at Kai, puppy dog eyes pleading.

'Fine, whatever." Said Kai before getting in. Raien and Andhera walked over and got in as well.

"Where do you live Rei?" asked Kai starting up the engine. Rei looked at him before answering.

"Um, Amarige Road. It's quite the distance away."

"Yeah no kidding. That's like on the outskirts, though nice looking houses though. Kai why don't you drop us off first and the campus and then you can take him home." Suggested Raien.

"Wow, you suggested something worth suggesting. Is that okay with you Rei?" said Kai. Rei nodded.

"Good." He drove out of the hospital and back to the campus. Driving up the entrance he stopped and let out Raien and Andhera. As Raien was getting out he stopped.

"What no kiss goodbye?" Raien asked Kai, but didn't get an answer as Andhera reached in and grabbed him by his shirt pulling him out of the truck. Closing the door, Kai saw them wave and drove off.

"Their quite funny to watch." Said Rei still smiling.

"You have no idea." Said Kai. They both sat in silence with the radio quietly playing music. Rei watched the scenery (or what he could see since it was night) out of the window.

"So where are your parents anyway?" asked Kai. Rei snapped out of his daze and turned to Kai.

"Oh, umm their on a business trip...as usual." Rei said muttering the last part. Unfortunately Kai heard the last part.

"So they're the rather be working than having family time?" asked Kai.

"You could say that. They aren't usually away as often, just this past year they have been gone longer and more often." Said Rei, a sad tone to his voice.

"I have parents like that back home." Said Kai. Rei smiled glad that someone else knew what it was like. Time passed and Kai came onto Amarige Road. Rei pointed out which house was his and Kai pulled into the driveway. He went to Rei's side and helped him out of the car. Walking up to the front with Rei they stopped at the door.

"My bags at school and they have my keys in them, but that's okay." Rei dug into his pocket and pulled out a paper clip.

"You sure that will work?" asked Kai and as watched Rei bending and stretching the metal.

"Yeah. I've done this more than once. I've had too much practice." Said Rei laughing at himself. He put the wire in the key hole and twisted the around a bit. Hearing a few clicks he removed in and turned the door knob. Stepping in quickly (with help from Kai) he punched in a code that turned off the security system. Walking threw the foyer he turned around to see Kai closing the door.

"You didn't have to stay. I can handle it." Said Rei. Kai removed his shoes and moved to help Rei removed the one shoe on his foot.

"What about upstairs. You can't walk all the way up. Besides you need to rest. I suggest you hobble over to the couch and sit down." Said Kai leaving no room for argument. Rei sighed and leant on his crutches and walked into the living room. He settled himself on the couch as Kai got pillows and propped up his foot.

"Do you want or need anything?" asked Kai. Rei shook his head.

"You can have a seat if you want." Said Rei. Kai walked over to a chair and sat down. He looked around the room taking in the look.

"You have a nice house. Sort of reminds me of mine back home." Said Kai.

"Thank you." Once again they sat in an uncomfortable silence. The sound of the front door opening alerted then. Kai tensed and got up standing next to Rei in a protective way.

"Rei?" came a voice from the door. Rei breathed out a sigh of relief.

"I'm in here Mrs. Flockinghart." The sound of feet running against the floor came towards the living room. A child of no more than six rounded the corner.

"Rei!" said the little boy throwing his hands in the air before running and leaping on Rei only to be caught in mid-air by Kai. Held put the little boy down studying him. He had pale green hair that flopped around with every movement. Big azure eyes stared up at him. The boy was wearing red overall with a blue t-shirt underneath. The little boy stared up at the mystery man who had caught him. A lady who Kai presumed was the mother came into the living room. She as well had pale green hair that had a slight wave and reached her mid-back. Instead of azure eyes, she had a sea blue colour. She wore a button shirt and black pants accompanied by thick healed boots.

"Now Cal, what did I tell you about Rei?" asked Mrs. Flockinghart. They little boy looked at Rei and then at his leg.

"That e' was wurt." Said Cal with his lisp. The lady nodded.

"That's right. How are you feeling Rei? When the hospital called I was so worried." She asked coming to Rei's side.

"I can't feel my leg at the moment. Other than that I'm fine...for now that is." Said Rei. Mrs. Flockinghart noticed Kai and looked at him.

"Who are you?" she asked with a slightly protective tone. Rei noticed and saved Kai.

"Oh this is my friend Kai. He works at the hospital. He drove me home." Explained Rei watching the her relax.

"Oh, well it's nice to meet you." She turned her attention back to Rei. "Are you hungry? Well I hope so. I'm going to cook dinner here tonight. Blaire will be over shortly. He just had to do a few things first. Kai, would you like to stay? I'm sure there will be enough." Asked Ann-Marie. Kai shook his head declining.

"No, I have to get back to campus. I have a few papers due tomorrow. Anyway I'll see you some other time Rei. Bye." Kai said before leaving. The three occupants heard the front door close.

"He seems nice." Said Ann-Marie. Rei smiled.

"He is. He just isn't the most social person." Said Rei. Ann-Marie nodded.

'Well I'll go get dinner started. I hope it's not too much trouble but could you just keep an eye on Cal till Blaire comes in?" she asked. Rei nodded and lifted the toddler onto his stomach. She smiled and walked off into the kitchen.

"'e whas 'ery tall Rei" said Cal. Rei smiled at Cal's description.

"What do you want to do?" asked Rei. Cal started to dramatically think.

"Um...movie?"

"Okay, your choice you know where they are." Cal hoped off Rei running towards the video case. Rei turned and stared at the ceiling.

'Why he is on my mind now? Why do I feel weird around him? And what is with me and falling?' thought Rei.

A while away, Kai was driving thinking along the same lines as Rei.

'What is so different about Rei? He always is popping up in my mind. Even in my dreams. What does this mean?' he sighed knowing that he wouldn't get answers having a conversation with his self in his mind.

Okay so that's a little different than I thought originally, but I actually like how it turned out.

Okay I've never had a cast so I don't really know what happens. I just got my information from my dad since he's a paramedic. (comes in handy for my fics)

I hope you enjoyed this. I'll have the next chapter up soon.
