Disclaimer: I own none of the characters except Raien and Andhera belongs to herself.

Okay back with a chapter. It's going to be short. I don't have a big idea for a chapter at the moment. But I'll make it a good chapter.

I was just reading through the other chapters and realized that Raien's name isn't pronounced the way it's written. Raien is pronounced Ray-en, not Rai-en. Just thought I'd clear that up.

Glad you all like the fic so far.

Enjoy!

Chapter Five – Night Out

It had been weeks since Rei's little fall. Kai had not seen or heard from Rei since then. There had been a few times where he was tempted to go over and check on him but something (fear?) always held him back.

So now he sat in class with Raien next to him. At the moment they were sitting in a lecture learning about the functioning of the mind. The professor was drowning on and on. Raien was jotting down notes on what he considered important. Raien looked over to Kai and saw him paraphrasing whatever the professor said.

"Um...you will donate certain materials to the poor right?" whispered Raien to Kai. Kai looked up and glanced at Raien for a moment before going back to his notes.

"You mean the I.O.U, right?" Raien nodded.

"Then no. I donated last week." Said Kai not looking up.

"You're greedy, you know that." Said Raien accusingly. Kai looked up and smirked.

"Only to idiots like you." Raien huffed.

"Mr. Taicoa, Mr. Hiwatari." Called the professor. Raien and Kai looked at him.

"I don't care about your personal preferences or outside life, but leave it out of this room." He called. A few of the other students smirked.

"Yes sir." They answered. The professor nodded before going back to his lecture.

"That was your fault." Said Kai whispering sharply. Raien only stared down at his notes.

"Well we will be remembering this moment for awhile." Said Raien quietly. Kai looked over at Raien confused. He looked sown at his friend's notes finding the dialogue of the what the professor told them.

"When he called our names I wasn't thinking that it was us." Said Raien. Kai shook his head a turned back to the lecture. The time had gone by quickly and soon Kai, Raien and Andhera were outside on one of the campus' courtyards. They sat under a large oak tree; Kai and Andhera sat on a stone bench while Raien lay on his back at their feet.

"What are you going to be doing this weekend?" asked Andhera to Kai. She tucked a lock of hair behind her hear and turned to face Kai to await his answer.

"I don't know." Said Kai simply. Raien opened his eyes and looked at Kai.

"Are you going to stay here again? All alone? Again? I mean Kai, it's the long weekend we have no work to do. We basically have a normal life again for three days. Go out or something." Said Raien.

"What are you doing then?" asked Kai, a bit annoyed at Raien.

"I'm taking Andhera to visit my parents. I haven't seen them since Christmas and Andhera has only met them once and that was last Christmas. If you want to come you're more then welcomed to." Said Raien.

"No, not this time." Said Kai.

"Well we'll be leaving in a few hours, meaning you'll be alone for a long time." Said Raien lying down again. He closed his eyes and laced his fingers together and placed them on his stomach. They sat in silence for a while longer.

"Why don't you go visit that Rei kid that you gave a ride home to last week? I'm sure he'll be lonely with not being able leave the house for awhile. It will be nice on your behalf." Said Andhera. Kai looked at her a little stunned.

"He'll probably be spending the holiday with his family. No need for me to but in." said Kai. Andhera sighed lightly.

"Well from what you told us about his parents they probably won't be there. Besides it never hurts to see." Said Andhera. Raien stood up and gave a hand to Andhera to help her stand up.

"Well whatever you do I hope it gets you out of here. We have to go get ready now. You gonna come say goodbye and maybe give us a kiss goodbye?" said Raien smirking knowing Kai always got annoyed when Raien joked about his preferences. "One day he may just kiss you just to get you to shut up." Said Andhera, smiling up at Raien.

"That'll be the day you leave." Said Raien looking down at her. They both we're staring into each other's eyes. Raien felt eyes on him and turned to Kai who was staring at him with a smirk on his face.

"What?" he asked annoyed.

"Oh nothing, I was just waiting how long it took you before you realized that she just took your wallet." Said Kai.

"Huh?" said Raien. He moved his hand to his back pocket realizing that it wasn't there. He looked at Andhera who was innocently smiling. She leant up quickly giving him a peck on the lips before running as fast as she could towards the dorms.

"W-what the hell just happened?" said Raien shocked.

"You let your emotions get to you." Said Kai. Raien glanced at him before taking off after Andhera. Kai smirked. Raien was mindless no doubt, but right. Well right about Kai staying here. He knew he had to get out; maybe the visit to Rei's house wouldn't be that bad. Sighing he stretched out in the bench and put his hands behind his head. He stayed like that for a while eventually falling into a light sleep under the shade of the oak tree.

The afternoon had pasted and the sun was now beginning to set. Kai feeling the change in the temperature opened his eyes blinking away the sleepy haze that covered his eyes. Sitting up he rubbed his eyes and looked down at his watch. His eyes widened when he saw the time.

'6:47?' he thought to himself. 'I've been asleep for four hours? That all nighter I pulled wasn't a good idea.' Thought Kai. Stretching he stood up and made his way back to his dorm.

Reaching his room, he went inside. Standing in the middle of the room he looked around trying to find something to do. He saw his sketch book but didn't feel like drawing at the moment. He looked at the clock as saw it read 7:03 PM. Spotting his keys on the desk he grabbed them and a light jacket and headed back out again. He figured he would go out and get something to eat.

Reaching his jeep he got in and decided to head on down to Kazie's.

Arriving at Kazie's he noticed that there weren't that many people there. Walking in he went to sit on a stool at the counter. Ordering his drink he looked around at the people that we're here. A few couples, a group of teenagers, Rei, another group, another co -.... Kai did a double take at what he just looked at making sure his eyes weren't deceiving him. Nope he wasn't hallucinating. There, a stool down sat Rei with his crutches at his side talking with his manager. Nodding a couple of times, the manager nodded as well and walked away. Rei looked down and then turned his head to face Kai. Eyes met and Rei blushed a scarlet red before turning his head quickly as if he had been caught.

Kai wasn't fairing much better. He was taken by surprise by Rei. He never expected to see him here...which he shouldn't even be here. A protective side coming over Kai, he got up and slid onto the stool next to Rei. Putting an arm on the counter Kai leaned on his hand.

"I thought we told you that you weren't supposed to be moving a lot?" asked Kai. Rei fidgeted in his seat.

"Um...well I didn't move. I got a drive here, and plus it's been a week. I was allowed last time to move." Answered Rei, blushing; luckily his long bangs hid the blush from Kai.

"That makes no difference but I can't stop you from coming out here." Said Kai sitting up. Rei looked at Kai, noticing that he was alone.

Brow furrowing he asked, "Where are your friends?"

"They've gone to visit Raien's parents, as it is the long weekend."

"Oh. Well I guess you're alone for the weekend then?" asked Rei shyly. Kai nodded. "So am I. My mom and dad said that they were coming home to see me because of the little accident I had but they called last night saying that a problem came up. So I get the house to myself again." Said Rei with fake cheeriness. "Anyway it's no big deal." Rei shifted around a bit uncomfortable with sitting on the stool.

'This isn't a good place for you to be sitting. Do you mind if we move over to a booth? It will be easier." Suggested Kai. Rei turned behind him looking for a booth. Finding one he nodded. He called out one of his co- workers asking him to bring their orders over there. With the help of Kai and his crutches Rei headed over to the booth. Sitting down on one side he raised his fractured leg, getting help from Kai to position it on the seat across from him but also next to Kai. Rei blush with Kai helping him.

'He's just being nice. He'd never think of you in that way Rei. Plus he's older. No university student would be interested in a high school student. Anyway there's probably someone already with him.' Thought Rei to himself.

"Something on your mind?" asked Kai.

"I don't want to intrude, I was just wondering why you're girlfriend isn't here." Asked Rei, and judging by Kai's wide-eye stare he knew he just embarrassed himself big time.

"I don't have a girlfriend." Said Kai. Now it was Rei's turn to stare.

"I'm sorry, I just assumed. Yea, I know I assumed too much. You don't have to tell me that." Said Rei lowering his head. Kai felt something pull at his heart. Trying to fix the mess up he answered.

"No, I wasn't going to say that. It's all right. Besides you're not the first one who's asked me. Truthfully I really don't find them all that attractive. Well to me they aren't." answered Kai blushing at telling someone besides his two best friends. Rei stared at him. Kai thought he wanted to leave but he looked into Rei's eyes and didn't see a trace of disgust.

"Wow. That's pretty cool. I mean you were open. Not many people I know would do that." 'Including me.' Thought Rei. Kai stared at Rei.

'This kid is weird, but he has a certain charm to himself.' Thought Kai. The two sat and talked a bit. They had their orders and then decided to head home.

"Is someone picking you up?" asked Kai as they exited the café.

Rei shook his head. "No, I was going to call a taxi. Do you think you can give me a ride home? If it's not to much trouble." Asked Rei shyly.

"It's not a problem. I have time to waste anyway." Said Kai walking over to his jeep. Driving to Rei's place they talked about a few things, slowly learning a bit more about each other. Coming to Rei's house Kai pulled into the driveway. Helping Rei out he helped him walk to the door.

"I have my keys this time." Said Rei smirking as he pulled off the keys that were around his neck. Opening the door, they entered.

"You can stay for a while, if you want. It's not a problem." Said Rei. Kai nodded and took off his shoes. Rei, with the aid of his crutches walked into the kitchen. Turning on the light, Kai was welcomed with the sight of a tidy and white kitchen. There was an island in the center surrounded by nice, high standing chairs.

You can have a seat. Do you want anything to drink?" asked Rei as he maneuvered around the island. Kai took a seat and shook his head.

"No thank you." Rei nodded and opened the refrigerator door. Pulling a can out from the fridge he placed it on the island. Kai stared at it and raised an eyebrow.

"I'm not going to eat this stuff. It's for Raja." Rei said.

"Raja?" Kai asked, right before a white and black Balinese hopped jump onto the counter.

"Raja." Said Rei presenting Raja to Kai. Kai smirked. Raja, smelling the can of cat food quickly made his way to the kitchen and dove right into to can. Rei pulled the can away only to have Raja follow.

"Wait until I put it in a bowl at least." Said Rei. The cat continued to paw Rei's hand away.

"You know what Raja, knock yourself out. Mom and dad aren't here. As long as you can keep the can on the counter go ahead." Rei said before placing the can back down watching Raja dive right in. Rei looked at Kai who seemed to be staring.

"Hehehe sorry. He's bossy. Um, I guess we can go into the living room. I don't think you want to watch him stuff his face in a can." Said Rei laughing. Kai stared at Rei.

'He does look and I dare say it, beautiful when he laughs.' Thought Kai. Shaking his thoughts he nodded. Walking down the hall they passed the staircase, which was rather grand.

"How do you get up there, with your condition?" asked Kai concerned. Rei turned around and looked up the stairs.

"Oh um, well Ann-Marie was bringing me what I needed from my room for the first few days. I managed to get up. I just have to give myself a head start." Answered Rei continuing to walk into the living room only to be scared by Raja who ran under his foot. Rei lost his footing and put pressure on his injured leg.

"Aaahhh!" Rei cried out letting go of the crutches as pain shot up his leg. He was about to meet the ground when two strong arms wrapped tightly around his waist. Rei opened his eyes to notice that he was bent over staring at the ground.

Kai noticed too late Raja sneaking around the corner before he ran under Rei's feet tripping to boy. Kai lunged forward only thought was to catch Rei. Knocking the one crutch that fell towards him he felt the pressure and warmth of Rei's body in his arms. He let out a sigh. Kai pulled Rei to stand up and lean on him.

"Woah. Thanks Kai. I don't think I would want another broken leg." Said Rei, turning his head back and up to face Kai. Both boys breath caught in their throat as they realized the closeness. Kai stared down at Rei, his hands not moving from their position around Rei's waist.

"I-I...um..." stuttered Rei at a loss for words. In their own little world, Rei and Kai didn't notice that they're faces where no more than a whisper away. Lips touched lips gently; each one scared of losing the other. A tiny bit of force was put into the kiss deepening it but not by much. Kai didn't know what he was doing. He had never experienced anything of this level before. He actually enjoyed it, but he didn't think of it at the moment. Rei felt the same, when Kai's lips met his. Pulling apart they both were breathing a bit irregular. Opening his eyes Kai stared down Rei who had just opened his eyes as well. They both stared at each other not knowing what to do.

"Uumm...." Mumbled Rei not knowing what to do.

"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that." Whispered Kai. He turned his head away. Rei shook his head.

"If it was a fault then it was as much of my fault as it was yours." Said Rei. Kai turned his head back and looked at Rei in confusion. Realizing he understood and a small smile graced his face.

I'm going to end it there for now. I would go on but I'm at a loss at the moment. i Anyway this is dedicated to the premiere of 'G-Revolution' in which I saw the first two episodes on YTV today. (Canada only)

Max's voice is deeper. Going through puberty now. LoL.

And they kept Daichi's name as Daichi. I'm happy, and Jin's voice is so kool. LoL.

Anyway enough of my rambling. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. I'll update a few of my other fics this weekend. I won't be updating next week cause I have a project due.

If you have any ideas of what you want Kai and Rei to do or go feel free to suggest them.
