Disclaimer: I own none of the characters.
Well it's been a very long time since I've updated this fic. It kinda got pushed into the back of my mind since I didn't know how to go with the next chapter. I'm sorry to every one who's been waiting.
I hope to get 'It's What I Want' updated this week too.
Chapter Eight- Arrival
Rei sat at home, elbow propped on the armrest of the couch that he was currently stretched out on. In his other hand he limply held the remote as he flickered through the channels. Nothing appealing to Rei was on the television.
Life was slow for the past month. Sighing loudly, Rei turned the off the television and dropped the remote on the floor. He rolled around till he was on his back and staring at the ceiling.
'Could the day could get anymore boring? I seriously think I would have more fun with my cast and trying to scratch my leg.' Rei thought as he lazily scratched his head.
Sighing again Rei rolled over and was immediately weightless for a second before he hit the floor landing on the remote.
"Ow. Not the greatest idea." Rei said to himself and he grabbed the remote from under him and placed it on the table. Sitting up he leant against the couch.
'I wonder what Kai's doing right now? Maybe he'd want to go out or get something to eat tonight. I am pretty hungry and I'm sure that he wouldn't mine taking a break from studying.' Rei thought as his mind rambled on. Too wrapped up with his thoughts he never heard the sound that came from outside or the front door quietly open.
Rei got up at the sound of shoes on the floor. Growing slightly nervous he got up and quietly walked out into the hallway. His eyes widened at the sight in front of him.
"Dad?" Rei asked, confused as to why his father was home. His father smiled at him, his face lighting up at the sight of his son.
"Hey son. How are you doing?" He asked bending down to put his briefcase down next to his suitcase. He walked forward wrapping an arm around Rei's shoulders, and turned him around guiding him to the kitchen.
"I'm fine dad. What are you doing here?" Rei asked looking up at his father. His father squeezed his shoulders before letting go and walking to the refrigerator.
"Other than the fact that I live here occasionally, the business trip was postponed and your mother and I decided to come home to meet, and see you of course, before we head out again." Mr. Kon said before taking a seat opposite to Rei at the island. His short black-blue hair contrasted with his topaz eyes. Rei looked at the state his father was in. Business jacket was open with the shiny black tie undone and hanging loosely. His face looked tired even without the bags under his eyes.
"You're not going to be here long are you?" Rei asked looking slightly disappointed. His father chuckled and leaned over ruffling his son's hair which only left him to stare at a pouting glare.
"As much as two weeks can." His father said with a smile, watching his son look up quickly at him.
"Two weeks! Seriously!" Rei said watching his father nod. Rei's face immediately broke out into a grin and then into a full smile. "That's great. You haven't been home that long at a time for a few months." Rei said. Something all of a sudden clicked in Rei's mind.
"Where's mom?" Rei asked.
"She was at another meeting. Don't worry she'll be here by tomorrow evening." His father answered.
"Okay."
"So what have you been up to since last time? How's your leg doing? It's nice to see you walking again."
Rei looked at his father trying to catch everything that he had been asked.
"Oh yeah my leg is fine. I can run up the stairs again…not that I do it constantly though." Rei said looking away.
"I see…Do you plan on doing anything for the last few weeks before school starts?" His father asked. Rei shook his head, hair flying wildly.
"Nope or nothing that's not spontaneous." Rei answered.
"Well hopefully we can work something out. It would be nice to go somewhere for a day or so, wouldn't it? His father asked.
"Yeah. Nice to be getting away from this small place." Rei answered.
"Well for starters, you hungry? I see that you don't shop much and don't tell your mother but I seriously don't want to open those health packs she bought. I don't understand how anyone can eat that stuff. So what do you say? Want to go out for dinner?" His father suggested. Rei nodded repeatedly.
"Okay, go and get changed and cleaned. We'll leave in half an hour okay?"
"Yep." Rei quickly got up and went up to his room. Reaching his door he stopped dead in his tracks.
'What about Kai? Do I really want to tell my parents and bring another victim to this facility? Especially when this one of the few breaks they get?' Rei thought, biting his lip nervously.
"Rei?" His father's voice echoed from behind him. Rei snapped out of his thoughts. Turning his head he saw his father.
"What?"
"You were just standing there. You okay?" Rei nodded a smile coming to his face.
"Yeah dad. Sorry I spaced out for a minute."
"Okay. As long as this is relatively normal." His father said jokingly before walking down the hall to his room. Rei sighed and entered his room. Going to his closet he randomly picked some clothes, and started to change. Dressed in black jeans and a pale yellow striped button down shirt he collapsed onto his bed.
Raja jumped onto the bed and was quickly grabbed before he could walk over Rei's legs
"Sorry dude. No fur on the jeans." Rei said letting Raja go, watching as the cat jumped onto his desk and into the windowsill. Rei looked out the window before getting up and walking out of his room.
Stepping out of his room he saw he dad exiting his own room, dressed in black pants with a blue shirt.
"Any idea of wear you wanted to take me tonight daddy?" Rei asked playfully. His father smirked.
"Someplace with a kids zone for you." His father answered sarcastically. They both laughed. "No, I was thinking we could go into the city. I mean you haven't been there for a while and it's a nice treat."
"Won't we need a reservation though?" Rei asked as they reached the bottom of the stairs. He father smirked.
"Do we?" Rei sighed.
"You knew I would agree to this so you booked this first chance you got?" Rei asked dully.
"You're my son. Of course you'd come. It's food. I didn't train you for nothing." His father said opening the door and waiting for Rei to exit before locking the door. Both got into his father's car, and were on their way into the city.
After the forty five minute ride, Rei's father pulled into the parking lot of a nice looking restaurant. Rei stared at the sign.
Belle de Fleur
"We're eating here? We don't come here unless it's something special." Rei said. His father smiled and stepped out of the car.
"I thought it would be a nice change." His father said.
Walking to the front door they stood and waited till their table was ready. Sighing Rei huffed and watched as a few bangs lifted.
"You know manners are mandatory in a restaurant like this." A voice behind Rei called. Turning around quickly he almost jumped.
"Kai!" He said a little loud causing people to look his way. "What are you doing here?" He asked.
Kai shifted for a moment.
"Well, you see…."
"Kai, is that boy pestering you?" A stern voice asked. Rei looked over Kai's shoulder and the woman and man who appeared behind Kai.
"No mom. He's a friend." Kai answered. Rei looked at woman. She had navy hair and dark blue eyes. Her face was heart shaped and tanned. She was dressed in a floral dark blue dress. She had the face of a woman who had little time for fun.
"A little young isn't he?" She asked skeptically. Momentarily Rei's father happened to tune in at that moment. Turning around he was met with his son facing a group of strangers.
"Rei?" He asked. Rei turned around and gave a shy grin. Inside his mind was going.
'Great. What am I going to do?'
I'm going to leave you all there at the moment. I will update this again soon. I want to finish the story by Christmas.
Hope you guys enjoyed this and I'm sorry for taking so long. I will update again this week.
I know I sped up time a bit. I didn't realize I lost track of time. Look forward to Rei and Kai's parents round fight in the next chapter…lol.
