Out at sea, Elsa has been using her magic nearly continuously for nearly three weeks. Elsa has been using her powers to propel the ship forward at a great speed. By now, the ship has traveled a vast distance; and the air temperature has dropped significantly. The ship is now in an area where glaciers are emerging from the land.

As the ship sails under the power of Elsa's magic, Anna has been keeping Kristoff company. Now with the temperature dropping outside, Anna and Kristoff are dressed for the cold weather.

As Anna and Kristoff sit in the pile of straw, Kristoff asks, "So how much further do you think it will be before we reach land?"

"The captain says it should only be a matter of days now," replies Anna. "Elsa has really managed to get us up north in a really short amount of time."

"She certainly has. I bet no one in the world has covered this much distance, in as little time as we have," adds Kristoff. "Ohh, I just wish that the journey was a little smoother."

"You and Sven both," says Anna with a smile. "But cheer up. We shouldn't have many more days at sea."

As Anna and Kristoff were talking, ice was beginning to form on the ceiling. Soon stalactites of ice begin to form as well. As the ship rolls, eventually one of the stalactites breaks free and crashes to the floor.

"What on earth?!" exclaims Kristoff as he sits upright as he looks at the shatter stalactite of ice.

Anna looks as well, and soon her gaze moves up to the ceiling. "Good heavens!" exclaims Anna. "The ceiling is covered!"

Kristoff looks up as well, and then he scrambles to his feet. The ice, that both Anna and Kristoff see, continues to spread and grow on the ceiling. "There shouldn't be ice down here," says a worried Kristoff. "Elsa must be over exerting herself to cause this ice to form."

Suddenly another stalactite falls to the floor. "We need to get out of here," says Kristoff as he grabs a hold of Anna's arm. Then Kristoff begins to pull Anna away to a safer location. Sven follows too as best that he could on the rolling ship.

Once everyone was at a safer spot, they all stop. Then Anna says, "Kristoff, we are safe now; at least for the moment anyway. There must be something wrong with Elsa, and I need to go to her to find out what that might be."

"All right, Anna," replies Kristoff. "We both will go to see what the problem is."

As quickly as they could, Anna and Kristoff make their way to the deck of the ship. What they find there, surprises the both of them. Ice had formed everywhere. On previous days, ice had always formed around the deck of the ship when Elsa was using her magic. However, now the ice was thick and it totally coated everything on the ship. What men that were on the ship's deck were no longer working but clinging to whatever they could for all they were worth. They were also calling out to Elsa to stop her magic. Meanwhile, Elsa paid no head to what was going on around her.

"No!" exclaims Anna. Then Anna tries to walk towards her sister, but she slips on the ice. Kristoff grabs onto Anna, and he pulls her back to the safety of the open door. Then with a stable footing, Anna screams, "Elsa! ELSA! She can't hear me."

Just as Anna tries to walk out onto the deck again, Kristoff pulls her back and says, "Anna! You can't walk out on that ice! You will never make it to her!"

"But Elsa needs me!" exclaims Anna. "I can't sit here and do nothing!"

"I didn't say that we would be doing nothing," replies Kristoff. "Just stay here for a minute. I need to retrieve my things before we do anything." So Kristoff departs to retrieve his satchel. Meanwhile, Anna stands there holding onto the door frame. She looks out towards Elsa, as Anna waits for Kristoff's return.

In a few moments Kristoff returns, and he kneels down next to Anna. Then Kristoff reaches down and grabs one of Anna's feet. "What are you doing?" asks a surprised Anna.

"Just give me your foot," replies Kristoff.

As Anna lifts her foot off the floor, Kristoff pulls a contraption out of his satchel. He then works to place it onto Anna's foot. "What is this that you are putting onto my shoe?"

"They're shoe spikes. They will help your feet grip the ice better," replies Kristoff.

"I didn't know you had things like this," says Anna.

"When you work with ice, you learn what you need to complete a job more efficiently," replies Kristoff. "These spikes sometimes come in handy, in my work. Since we were going to be moving on a glacier, I thought that they might come in handy on our journey."

Soon Kristoff has the shoe spikes on Anna and himself. With the spikes now on, Kristoff and Anna slowly move out onto the deck of the ship, each one hanging onto the other. Soon they near Elsa.

"Elsa!" calls out Anna. "Elsa, you need to stop!"

"There is no need to stop," replies Elsa coldly. "I'm in control of everything, and I shall push forward towards my goal."

"Elsa, what is wrong with you?" asks a concerned Anna. "Things are not under control. It's getting bitterly cold out, and the ship is icing over."

"I'm immune to the cold, and this ice is insignificant. Neither one even matters. All that matters is reaching my destination quickly," replies Elsa once again in a cold tone.

"That can't be the only thing on your mind," exclaims Anna. "What about the other people on this ship? Your magic is starting to hurt the people that are aboard here, the people that are here to help you."

"What do I need help for?" replies Elsa with indifference. "I've had to learn to be on my own for most of my life. I can accomplish this on my own."

Finally, Anna has managed to walk right up next to Elsa. "Elsa, have you already forgotten?" asks Anna. "You promised that you would remember, that you are not alone on this mission. Many people back in Arendelle are working to help Kristian, including Olaf and Grand Pabbie. The men on this ship are also trying their best to get you to the Fire Glacier, and what about Kristoff and me? We won't allow you to do this alone."

Finally, Elsa relaxes her efforts on moving the ship, and she looks over at Anna. "I did promise you, didn't I," says Elsa as her tone softens. "But I need to finish my mission quickly."

"And we will finish it, Elsa," replies Anna. "We will finish it together; you, me, Kristoff, and Sven. I promise you, you will never have to be on your own again."

With this last statement, Anna places her hand on Elsa's arm. Once her hand touches Elsa's arm, Anna is shocked by what she feels. Elsa's arm was ice cold. Anna temporarily pulls her hand away before placing it back down on Elsa's arm. "Elsa! You're cold!" exclaims Anna with fear.

"The cold doesn't bother me," replies Elsa with no emotion.

"No, Elsa, this is different!" exclaims Anna. "I know you can tolerate the cold air, but your arm is no longer warm to the touch. It is like touching a piece of ice!"

"You have been exerting yourself, Elsa," adds Kristoff. "You have been doing this for every single day, since we left Arendelle. All this cold you have been creating is starting to affect your body. It's like the cold is becoming one with your body."

"One with her body?" says Anna to herself as she mulls over this idea in her mind. Then it dawns on her what is happening. "Elsa! Your magic is beginning to affect your body, just like what is happening to Kristian!" exclaims Anna. "You just can't keep doing this anymore! If you do not stop now, you may actually freeze your own heart; and I will lose my only sister! Please Elsa, just let us help you."

Finally Elsa stops her efforts in generating the storm. Almost instantly the winds begin to die down, and the storm clouds slowly begin to disappear. "You are overblowing this situation," replies Elsa factually. "However, I made a promise to you; and I intend to keep that promise. I will stop, for now."

"Thank you, Elsa," says a grateful Anna. "Now why don't we all head down into the galley, where we all can have a nice hot cup of tea, and warm ourselves up."

"A pointless act, but very well," replies Elsa as she begins to walk towards the galley in the ship.

Anna follows Elsa, but Kristoff just stands there looking at the ship. Anna notices that Kristoff isn't moving. So Anna stops and asks, "What is the matter, Kristoff?"

"It's the ship," replies Kristoff. The ice covering it is making the ship unstable. Rough waters could possible sink her. We won't be moving very far until this extra weight is removed."

"Removing the ice will not be a problem," says Elsa coldly as she turns to face Anna and Kristoff. "I'll simply reverse the magic." So Elsa begins to raise her hands into the air.

"However, Anna becomes alarmed; and she quickly moves towards Elsa. "Elsa, No!" exclaims Anna. In responds, Elsa stops her motion; and she looks over at Anna. "I don't want you to use your magic any more today," continues Anna. "Any more actions by you could end up taking you to a point where you might not be able to recover."

"I'm perfectly fine, and it is a simple matter for me to remove this ice," replies Elsa. "I won't even feel a thing."

"That's just it. You won't feel a thing," responds Anna. "You don't seem to feel the wind, and you don't feel the cold. Your skin already feels like ice and you don't seem to even care about that."

"All I care about is completing my mission and the promises that I have made to you," says Elsa factually without any emotion.

"Is that all you care about?" asks Anna. "Don't you even care about Kristian? Don't you even care about me?"

Elsa stands there with a blank look on her face and with her mouth slightly open. "I… don't know," says Elsa. "I remember caring about both of you, but it is like my emotions are clouded now. Am I losing my emotional senses?"

"You will never lose them, Elsa," replies Anna. "Not as long as you can remember feeling them, but you need to stop using your abilities for now. Just give yourself some time to recover before you use them again."

"Very well, but the ship is still covered in ice. What do you think should be done about that?" says Elsa.

"I and some of the other men will work on it," interjects Kristoff. "It will take some time, but we will have this ship ready to sail again."

Suddenly a screech is heard coming from below deck. Then a few moments later, Mattias flies out from below deck. He flies towards Elsa, and Elsa raises her arm for the firebird to land on. Once Mattias has landed on Elsa's arm, he lets out another friendly squawk.

"Maybe you don't need to remove the ice," says Anna with a smile. Then Anna turns to Mattias and says, "Hi Mattias, do you want to do us a favor?"

Mattias lets an affirmative squawk in reply.

"What we need to happen is for all the ice on this ship to be removed," says Anna. "Do you think that you can do that?"

In reply, Mattias lets out a screech and spreads his wings. He also allows his body to flame up before he leaves Elsa's arm.

"OW!" exclaims Elsa as she reaches down and rubs her arm. She rubs the spot where Mattias was perched. "Careful Mattias, you actually hurt me!"

"He hurt you?" asks Anna. Then Anna reaches her arms around Elsa and gives her a hug. "Oh Elsa, that is wonderful!"

"Wonderful?" says Elsa a little perplexed and annoyed. "You think that getting hurt by Mattias is wonderful? How would you like to feel a flaming bird with talons take off from your arm?"

"That's just it Elsa. You felt something," replies Anna. "Don't you see? Your emotions are not gone. They are already returning to you."

"I am feeling something," says Elsa with a smile. "I'm feeling annoyed with you. I never thought that I would be happy for feeling cross with you."

"I don't care if you are cross with me. I'm just happy that you are able to come back to me," replies Anna with a smile.

"If you two are done bantering away, shall we head down and warm ourselves up?" interjects Kristoff. "The air is still a bit nippy out here."

"Of course, it would be best if we all warm ourselves up," replies Elsa.

With that, Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff head down to the galley; where it was warm. As they leave, Mattias is flying around the ship with his body in full blaze. Everywhere that Mattias flew, the ice quickly melts away; and in no time, the ship is cleared of the ice. Soon the ship is once again in full sails, and the ship now moves through clear skies.

For the next several days, Elsa refrained from using her magic. It was decided between everyone that it would be best if Elsa could rest and recover from her ordeal. This slowed the pace of the ship. So it took a few extra days before they were able to get to the place where the Fire Glacier was located.
