Personality

Alondra is sly and manipulative, employing a playful personality and a smile to hide her true intentions. She dislikes not being in control but is willing to delegate business to others. Sadistic and vindictive though she never allows it to get in the way of her business.

Biography

The first daughter of Carlos and Marcia Arnetti, the suspected boss of an east-coast Mafia family and South and Central American cartels respectively, Alondra Arnetti grew up in the lap of luxury. When she was thirteen, she was kidnapped by a pair of men who sought to ransom her, but they were later found with one of them dead and the other critically injured by Alondra. She attended college on scholarship to study medicine but dropped out after three years and moved to Greenvale, IL where she began to buy real estate. She started and funded several organizations to help the underprivileged of the city and struck up an association with the street gang known as the Butcher Boys, purported in an attempt to rehabilitate the members. A majority of them now work for her legitimate businesses.

Despite dropping out of college, Alondra retains extensive medical knowledge that she continues to expand on her own. She is surprisingly skilled in the field of surgery.

She is also regularly armed with various small caliber firearms, which she has permits for, and is a skilled marksman.

Personality

Porter appears to be little more than a common thug at first glance who is disrespectful towards authority and prone to violence. He is mercenary, motivated by greed, and he is loyal to an employer who honor their agreements but quickly turns spiteful towards any who cheat him and will go out of his way to ruin future ventures. While pragmatic and cunning, he is not as intelligent as he wants people to think and often grows enraged when his ruse is realized.

Biography

Early in his childhood, Porter Sloane was abandoned by his mother while his father was in prison and he was entered into the foster care system. He went through several homes, regularly removed for stealing or fighting with the family members, and he often fled whatever home he was placed at between his father's stints in prison. He followed in his father's footsteps as a career criminal, starting as a thief and burglar but, unlike his father, he soon escalated to violence and became a killer for hire. Apprehended and incarcerated after his thirteenth homicide, he was sentenced to death and his execution was carried out after nearly a year of imprisonment.

Before his death, Porter was an adept but brutal killer who took his victims via surprise and overwhelming force. While never classically trained, Porter grew up in various fights and learned how to handle himself in one. He is skilled in a wide variety of criminal exploits that range from picking pockets to undoing locks to running small crews.

Personality

Polite in most situations and possessing a 'southern charm,' Arson switches to a far more brutal disposition when forced into combat and he has very little concern for his blazes once they're started. He follows a loose code of chivalry. Seems to be largely self-serving despite his redemptive qualities, which he will quickly disregard to protect himself.

Biography

There have been multiple reports of a similar figure committing crimes such as arson, vandalism, and sabotage throughout the United States and occasionally internationally. Despite several arrests, all reports on him have vanished following his escape.

Abilities and Equipment

KRAKEN

Personality

Gene Fitzroy is a driven individual who learned discipline early in his youth. While compassionate, he regularly suppresses his kindness to complete missions that he is assigned. He is prone to frustration, especially in regards when others fail to understand his viewpoints, and will resort to extreme methods to get them across.

Biography

Growing up in Ocean City, Maryland under the care of his parents and alongside a younger sister, Gene demonstrated an aptitude for swimming and was a potential Olympic-level competitor before deciding to join the U.S. Navy out of high school. He served diligently and became a Seal before being recruited into a joint military taskforce, after which the remainder of his military career was redacted. Several years later, he emerged as the Kraken, operating as a global mercenary who came to work frequently with pirate crews due to his experience with amphibious assaults.

Abilities and Equipment

Pockets have been periodically beneath Kraken's skin that contain nanocells that he can generate into tendrils. These tendrils can fire out of the ports fast enough to penetrate at least a foot of concrete and can exert enough constricting force to break bones. The procedure to modify his body to control the nanocells boosted his durability.

Kraken is a highly trained combatant, skilled both in hand-to-hand combat and the use of firearms as well as other weapons. He will occasionally make use of military equipment.

Emma Cromwell has regressed into a completely feral state that is interrupted by bouts of diabolic cunning. She has exhibited deep hatred for civilization and becomes violent whenever confronted with it.

Biography

Born in Devonport, Tasmania to unmarried parents, Emma Cromwell developed regular skills, such as speech and bipedal locomotion, at a slower rate than typical. When she was five, she attacked her parents and then fled into the wild. She moved amongst the islands for a time before being captured and brought to the USA to take part in a special rehabilitation program, which ultimately failed. She escaped into the wild again and has moved amongst the uninhabited parts of the country, occasionally attacking intruders upon her domain.

Abilities and Equipment

Emma possesses enhanced physical attributes and senses. Her teeth and nails are substantially tougher than normal and able to scar steel. Her instincts are highly tuned, which is coupled with a surprising intellect hidden behind her savagery.

Personality

Embittered by her powers, Alyx has adopted an abrasive personality to drive others away before she can get close to them and have her powers inevitably do so. She is rude and bitingly sarcastic, but has demonstrated bouts of remorse for her more extreme behaviors. As though to compensate for her lack of control over her powers, Alyx has become rather meticulous. Alyx's harsh demeanor largely vanishes about Henry Hill, Jr., who she treats like a little brother and has demonstrated surprising tenderness towards.

Biography

Alyx's parents divorced when she was young, a division she ultimately blamed herself for, and both struggled to find her assistance in controlling her powers, a task made more difficult with legal fees of their divorce. During this time period, Alyx encountered Henry Hall, Jr., and developed a rapport with him. They were placed in Caldwell's Home for Extraordinary Youths, a place intended to help young metahumans but still could not help the pair gain control of their abilities. Shortly after turning thirteen, Alyx left and began a life of crime to survive, partnered with Henry. They committed several bank robberies, using their powers to overwhelm civilians and authorities alike as well as weaponry obtained from unnamed sources.

Abilities and Equipment

Alyx possesses enhanced physical attributes and senses. She displays the unique ability to project an aura of fear and terror that seems to increase with her excitement and never fully dissipates. She is immune to Henry Hill, Jr's infectious insanity while he is similarly immune to her terror projection.

Alyx has developed a sufficient knowledge of firearms and their usage and will often use them in concert with her powers.

Henry's personality is often hampered by the psychological conditions he picked up, but he appears largely nonviolent. He is friendly but is fully devoted to Alyx Madan-Chen, viewing her almost as an elder sister. He is fiercely protective of her and grows irritated at the very suggestion of an insult towards her.

Biography

Henry was born into a middle-class family that was not equipped to handle his powers and took him to several doctors. In a desperate attempt, they placed him in an asylum, which only worsened his condition before he was placed in Caldwell's Home for Extraordinary Children. He met Alyx Madan-Chen some time before this and formed a rapport with her, remaining close to her throughout his time at the home. Due to his powers, he often had to be kept away from the other children and many of the adult caretakers were wary of him as well, leaving Alyx as his primary contact with other people. When she decided to leave the home, he followed after her and became her partner as a criminal.

Abilities and Equipment

Henry possesses enhanced physical attributes and senses. His ability has been referred to as an 'infectious insanity' in that he seems to contract the mental illnesses of others as though they were physical diseases. He can spread these disorders to others by being in proximity to them. For a yet undetermined reason, he is immune to Alyx Madan-Chen's fear broadcast while she is immune to his infectious insanity.

Henry has learned how to handle and use multiple firearms.

Personality

Very childish and eager to play with others, it experiences temper tantrums like any youth and will lash out violently at the subject of its ire. Any remorse it feels seems more akin to regret over breaking a toy rather than any sense of wrongdoing.

Biography

Plaything was 'born' when a disembodied telekinetic entity was shattered by a yet unknown force. The manifestation of the personality's inner child, it began kidnapping children to play with it. Though several were injured, they were all retrieved and returned to their families as Plaything disappeared. It appeared several times throughout the US, its movement patterns sporadic and always with the same intent. Its defeat usually requires metahuman involvement or the deployment of advanced tactics and technology not readily available to police. It is guilty of the deaths of eight children and teenagers.

Abilities and Equipment

A disembodied telekinetic entity, it constructs a 'body' out of nearby materials, limiting its form to toys and game pieces, seemingly to lure children to it. It possesses superhuman strength and durability due to its unique form of existence and is most vulnerable to area attacks. The cohesion of its body is disrupted as its broken apart, but it can easily reconstitute its form with any materials it finds. The largest it has ever appeared is approximately the size of a two-story home.

As we've said before, a lot of this story is us developing and figuring out the voices for our villains, testing them against a preexisting framework. Regrettably, this prevents us from going into some of the deeper detail we like.
