Happy holidays and a happy new year! Sorry it took me so long to update. I hope you like it. I couldn't come up with too many truth or dares, but I did try to make the chapter a little light hearted after how dark and angst filled the last chapter was. I'm not sure how good this chapter was but I hope I've kept the aspects you guys love.
I wrote a lot of this while I was tired so if it seems a little jumpy, sorry:)
Oh! On another fanfiction related note. I have written three chapters for the spin off to one of my other stories. Once I get closer to finishing this story I will start posting it! So far I really like what I have written for it and I hope you will too.
Disclaimer, I do not own Percy Jackson. All rights belong to Rick Riordan.
Annabeth felt herself desperately trying to ignore the map that was rolled up on the table. The regretted even agreeing to this game. Seaweed Brain must have rubbed off onto her. The daughter of Athena thought sadly to the wedding he was going to be forced into. She had always expected that she and Percy would be married one day. He had even mentioned that he was intending for them to have a future together.
Sweat was forming on her brow as she fought to ignore the imaginary spiders that were crawling all over her skin (by the way she really, really hates spiders). Annabeth sat on her hands to prevent her sticky fingers from wandering to the magic map. The map that would lead her to her boyfriend who was about to be ripped from her grasp permanently. It irritated her to think that the marriage was just a way for Gaea to guilt Calypso into doing anything to keep Percy safe.
Also she couldn't stand to see another person she loved be taken away forever.
Luke was like a brother to her. Annabeth could only imagine how painful it'd be to lose Percy a second, or was it a third, time? She didn't care how many times people split them apart, the agony was always the same. Never ending suffering plagued her. Shaking her head the daughter of Athena brought herself back to their game of truth of dare.
The whole thing had started out innocently enough. A few gross dares like stuffing a dirty sock in their mouths and drinking toilet water. Some of the truth questions were really personal. Leo, however, decided to take the dares up a notch or two. Annabeth watched as Hazel eyed the empty space where Frank had been sitting just moments before.
The cost of refusing to answer a question or take a dare was to high. Chuckling to herself, Annabeth looked over at a very unhappy Jason who was dressed like Prince Charming. He had refused to ride his horse backwards, he told them all it was too dangerous. Leo just laughed and called him a chicken. It was funny to see him with his hair slightly longer and brushed back, the puffy shirt he wore was so hilarious Annabeth kept smiling at the sight of him.
She was assuming that Frank rather go through with Leo's dare than end up Aphrodite's next victim. Apparently he was more afraid of the goddess of love than the son of Hades.
"Since its going to take Frankie a while to complete his dare I'll give the next one." Aphrodite smiled. "Piper truth or dare?"
Annabeth could see worry on the younger teen's face as she considered her answer, "Truth?"
"Tell me." Aphrodite began as she straitened in her seat. "Why don't you want to kiss Percy Jackson? Is he unattractive? What is it?"
"Mother!" Piper shouted as she hid her red face.
"It's a simple question, sweetie." The goddess of love smiled. "After all Annabeth kissed Jason. It's normal for my children to want revenge for someone crossing into their turf. Just look at Drew."
Annabeth bowed her head in regret. She really did feel bad about hurting both Jason and Piper. Jason had just helped her with her problem and she turned around and stabbed the two of them in the back. The truth was, she did it for a good reason, but it was a pretty high cost she had to pay. After all, Piper did try to help her feel better while they were trying to finish Argo II, they became friends during that time.
She destroyed her friend's trust to save the one person she loved the most. Annabeth even obtained a way to find him and Piper got rid of their pesky Cupid problem.
"Just answer the question." Jason advised as he shifted uncomfortably in his 'prince' clothing. "Who knows what she'll make you wear.
"Fine." Piper huffed. "First off, from what I understand Percy already has a girl kissing him against his will. And while he is cute, he's not my type. Secondly just because Annabeth hurt me doesn't mean I have to hurt her back. Despite what she's done she's still my friend. I understand why she did what she did."
Tears of relief came to Annabeth's eyes, "We're still friends."
"Of course." Piper smiled as she pulled Annabeth in for a hug. "I know that this whole ordeal has been tough on you. Even though you made me mad, I know you weren't trying to steal my boyfriend from me. You're like my sister and sister's do stupid things sometimes."
The two of them let themselves separate. The daughter of Athena turned to looked at Jason hopefully. Annabeth found herself fighting a giggle at the sight his wavy hair and how silly he looked in his costume.
"Can you forgive me?" She asked hopefully. The way he sat stiffly, Annabeth was afraid his answer was going to be 'no'.
Jason hugged her and lifted away all of her fears, "Yeah, I know you thought it was the only way to save Percy."
"OH MY GOSH!" A voice wailed. "That was so sweet!"
Everyone looked at Piper's mom she was clutching onto a blushing Leo and sobbing into his shoulder. Tears were soaking into his white shirt. Annabeth could swear he was going to pass out. She was sure he wasn't use to a girl hugging him like that. He awkwardly pat his tan hand onto her shoulder in a 'there-there' kind of way. Aphrodite pulled away and wiped a tear.
"What did I miss?" Frank asked as he walked back in. There was a empty tube of lipstick in his hand along with sparkles and pink feathers on his cheek.
"You got Coach too right?" Leo asked while trying to contain his laughter. "Lazy bum hasn't been around to yell at us in a while."
The Chinese boy blushed, "Yeah, I used three things of Nail polish on him."
"Are you sure he's not going to get in too much trouble?" Hazel asked.
"I'll take the rat for him if it ends badly." The son of Hephaestus gave the poor girl a dismissing wave.
"Frank I guess it's your turn to do truth or dare." Annabeth told him. The teen shook his head,
"Na, have someone else go." He told her. "I just hope Nico and Hedge don't wake up anytime soon."
Piper blushed knowing she'd have to choose someone. He multicolored eyes wondered around the group. After awhile she decided on Hazel. A smile came to the daughter of Aphrodite's face. Annabeth knew that her mother's mischeft was shining through.
"Hazel, truth or dare?"
The daughter of Pluto began to wring her hands together nervously. "Uh...I don't know...um...d...dare"
Annabeth admired the girl's bravery. Even choosing truth was a risky move, but after Leo had gone to the next level with his dares, it was hard to say where the game would go from there. Although Piper wasn't like Leo, there was still a chance everyone would try to out dare each other. If there was one thing you could say about demigods, it's that they're competitive.
Piper rested her finger on her chin, "I dare you to...do the cinnamon challenge."
"You do know," Frank paused and grabbed Hazel's hand nervously. "People have gotten hurt doing that?"
"Cinnamon Challenge?" Hazel asked as she stared blankly at everyone in the circle.
"Basically you have to swallow Cinnamon Powder within sixty seconds without anything to drink." Annabeth informed her. She felt slightly weary of Piper's request. It was pretty dangerous to do, especially if the seasoning was inhaled.
"You can have a glass of water if needed." Piper assured her. "Just try to swallow as much cinnamon as you can without it."
Everyone headed to the ship's kitchen. Annabeth filled a glass with water while Piper got the powder and a teaspoon. Hazel didn't seem to be as nervous as Frank. The daughter of Athena smiled at the boy's protectiveness. It reminded her of Percy. Although, Annabeth had the feeling she'd have to be the one worrying about him doing the cinnamon challenge.
"Okay Hazel." Aphrodite began. "Are you ready to do this? There is always the alternative."
With a snap of her fingers Hazel's blue jeans and purple shirt changed into a long green dress. Her wavy brown hair had been put neatly up into a bun. Frank blushed at the sight of her. He obviously thought that she looked pretty. Annabeth figured the daughter of Pluto didn't dress up much.
"Oh no!" Hazel declared franticly. The dress disappeared and she returned to her normal clothing. "I'll do the challenge!"
Everyone watched with bated breath as Hazel ate the spoonful of cinnamon. Annabeth wasn't surprise by the look of discomfort on the younger girl's face. The daughter of Pluto swallowed rapidly as she tried to force the dehydrating powder down her throat.
"Hazel, you should drink the water." Jason advised as he pushed the glass towards her.
After a moment of reluctance Hazel grabbed the glass immediately and began gulping down the water. The only person Annabeth has seen drink water faster was her boyfriend. Hazel coughed trying to get air back into her lungs. Frank was to her rescue immediately, patting her back to help force the water from her.
"Props for Haze." Leo smiled and lifted his hand for a hi-five. Hazel readily complied with his request.
Aphrodite pouted, "Man will someone, besides Jason, let me give them a makeover?"
"The game is still young." Leo told her. "Okay Hazel it's your turn to choose somebody."
Hazel filled her glass with water again and took a long drink. Annabeth didn't think that Hazel would be able to come up with a very gross dare or crazy truth question.
"Okay." Her golden eyes wondered the room. "Leo, truth of dare?"
Leo smirked, "Dare."
"Well in New Orleans some men would inhale fire." She began. "So I dare you to inhale fire."
"Wow." the fire starter whistled. "I didn't know you had it in you. I'm not sure though. That could actually kill me."
Hazel arched an eyebrow, "Are you 'chickening' out Leo?"
Annabeth watched on with interest. They all knew that Leo was fire proof on the outside, but was he on the inside? It seemed as if Leo was questioning that himself. He weighed the pros and cons of choosing to go through with the dare. In truth Annabeth hoped he didn't take the chance on getting hurt.
"I guess." Leo sighed in defeat. "Okay Aphrodite, do your worst."
The love goddess gave a squeal of delight as she snapped her fingers. Leo was surrounded with magic. After a long moment the spell lifted. In front of them was something out of a Disney movie. Leo wore a blue vest over a white shirt, his hair was brushed back neatly, and he wore brown pants.
"You are really going for that fairy tail theme." Piper pointed out. "I'm afraid of what you have in mind for the rest of us."
"At least I look awesome." Leo smiled and flexed his arms. He wriggled his eyebrows at Piper. "Right Beauty Queen."
She shoved him, "In your dreams Repair Boy."
"Okay Leo, you call the next truth or dare." Annabeth said. Out of the corner of her eye Annabeth caught sight of the map and unconsciously leaned towards it.
"Alright, Aphrodite truth or dare?" Leo asked. Aphrodite her fingers through her hair.
"Truth."
Leo scratched his chin, "Why are you going with Disney themed makeovers?"
"Cause, it's fun." She told him with a shrug. "Plus, you two look adorable!"
Jason and Leo both blushed and rubbed the back of their heads. Annabeth and the others laughed at the two boys' embarrassment. Well that was until they remembered that it was Aphrodite's turn to ask truth or dare. Annabeth gulped and tried to make herself unnoticed. Out of the corner of her eye she could see that the others were doing the same.
"Annabeth." The daughter of Athena grimaced. "Truth or dare."
The blond haired teen thought about the dangers of ageing to a truth question from Aphrodite, "Dare."
"I dare you to tell me what is the sweetest thing Percy has ever done for you?" The goddess of love told her. Annabeth's jaw dropped. She couldn't believe that Aphrodite had found a loophole, but the question wasn't as bad as she feared it would be.
"Well played." Annabeth allowed Aphrodite to win this round. "The sweetest thing? You mean besides falling into the depths Tatarus with me."
"I don't know. Do you have a story to top that?"
Annabeth closed her eyes, "There is the first time he told me 'I love you'."
Everyone leaned in closer. The he time daughter of Athena closed her eyes and imagined that night again. It was the day before he disappeared. She smiled remembering kissing him good night, she remembered how nervous he looked before he uttered those three words that made her the happiest girl on the planet. Annabeth told the group about the night. From beginning, which included Drew's attempt to take Percy from her, to the end (the bubbly never ending giddy feeling finish to the night).
"That is very sweet." Hazel sighed and leaned on her fist. A yawn escaped her lips. "Who would have thought Percy was a romantic."
"I think we should go to bed." Piper yawned too.
"We need our rest." Aphrodite agreed.
Soon everyone was mumbling and bringing themselves to their feet. Annabeth had to admit that she was feeling tired herself. Just as she was about to exit the room with everyone else she found herself grabbing the map on her way to her cabin. She didn't care if she was supposed to leave it in the kitchen, wisdom's daughter wanted to make sure she can figure out how to use the map.
Annabeth ignored everyone's calls of 'goodnight' as she shut her bedroom door behind her. She skillfully laid it out on her desk, using objects scattered on it as weights for each of the corners. In the dim light of the desk's lamp she looked at the world map. Her heart sank at first, she couldn't seem to see any point on it that caught her eye. Please she thought Just show me where he is.
Just when her hope was fading a brilliant white light appeared on the map close to California. She couldn't believe her eyes, but there it was.
"I've got you Seaweed Brain." She whispered. Annabeth let her fingers wonder over the light. "So don't go anywhere."
She didn't go to bed for a long time. The daughter of Athena sat at her desk watching the little white light. A little light that indicated where her boyfriend was. Where her heart was. Annabeth was afraid that if she looked away, the light would disappear. Eventually sleep took over and she was embraced by the darkness.
Please Read author's note: Again sorry about how slow the chapters were and how few Truth's and Dare's there were. By the way...
