Here's my next chapter. I hope I'm keeping up the intensity. And if I don't answer some of your questions I want you guys to know I'm not ignoring you! I'm kind of forgetful sometimes. I can remember almost every aspect of any story I write, but I'm forgetful of other things. My friends find it funny of how I can give word for word reference to anything I read or write. But anyway please keep commenting!
Disclaimer, as always I don't own Percy Jackson all rights belong to Rick Riordan!
Calypso watched the world through a white vale. Her heart was pounding loudly in her ears. The flowers in her hands weren't exactly made of metal, but she felt as if she was reliving her dream. She took in a deep breath of air as she tried to imagine what it would be like seeing Percy waiting for her at the end of her journey to no longer being alone. Calypso smiled as she thought about what it'd be like to kiss him and make their union official.
The birds of the island seemed to be chirping louder. Bees buzzed happily around her, seemingly skipping as she flew. She felt as if she must have been dreaming. Soon everything would be as it was meant to. Her and Percy could be together forever.
Thinking about how happy she was going to be, Calypso was forgetting about the spell and all of the affects it had on the son of Poseidon. Her view ceremony was blocked by trees, but she was content in knowing that he would be waiting for her. She closed her eyes and imagined his black hair being teased by the wind. Her heart continued to thud loudly in her chest.
"You're enjoying yourself I take it?" A voice asked.
It couldn't have been, he's dead.
Calypso opened her eyes. Sure enough the son of Hephaestus was standing in front of her. He looked the same as when she had last seen him. His brown eyes seemed to reflect the pain of rejection she was use to seeing. Maybe that was what was made him so hard for her to be around. Leo seemed to reflect her.
"What are you...?" She swallowed. "How are you alive?"
His left eye twitched, "Well you see Beth and I busted out before Gaea even got around to the whole 'killing' thing."
"She told me..." Calypso began and looked away from him. "She said."
Leo came in front of her and grabbed her chin. She flinched as he forced her to look at him. Calypso's guilt was now staring her right in the face. A single tear rolled down her face. Her mouth couldn't seem to from anymore words.
"She told you what you wanted to hear."
Calypso recoiled from his grasp, "No! I never wanted you dead Leo, nor did I want that girl dead."
The thin teen turned away from her. His shoulders were stiff and his curly hair seemed to be messier than she remembered. A part of her ached to apologize to him, beg for forgiveness. Why was it she rejected the one boy who actually loved her? How could she have changed so dramatically?
Percy Jackson.
He was the ideal boy for someone like her. Strong, good willed, and loyal. Whenever she looked at the son of Poseidon she could see the boy she had cared for on her island for a long time. Compared to him many other boys seemed to pale. She held onto Percy for so long which meant she could never love again. Or so she thought, Leo seemed to bring an emotion within her that she was not familiar with.
"So you're marrying him?" Leo asked without turning around. "Even though you know it isn't what he wants."
Calypso felt her cheeks go hot, "I love him."
The teen spun around on his heel, "Do you? You love him so much you're going to force him to love you?"
"I...I..."
"You know nothing about what it is to love!" Leo shouted. "I may not be into the gooey stuff all of the time, but I do know that you don't love Percy Jackson."
"I'm older than you Leo." She scowled at him. "I think I know..."
"But that's the thing." He interjected. "You don't."
Silence surrounded them. The birds around her stopped their songs and the buzzing bees seemed to have left to take refuge in their hives. Leo was looking at her with the face that both infuriated and infatuated her. His tan skin seemed to be lighter than it had when she'd last seen him, his brown eyes bore into her soul, and the worst part was the nagging voice at the back of her head. It was telling her he was right.
"If you're so confident than you tell me how to prove I love him." Calypso demanded with a wave of her hand.
"You have to let him go." Leo told her. The daughter of Atlas's heart sank. "Even if it means that you'll never be truly happy. You want him to be happy. Percy's never going to be happy with you. Besides your wedding wont last long anyway."
Calypso blinked, "What do you mean?"
The fire starter let out a very bitter laugh, "She's going to trick you into freeing your father to keep Percy 'safe'. In reality she's going to trap you and erase your husband's memory. The wedding is just to make you feel obligated to protect him from harm."
"That's ridicules. All of it." She accused. "You're lying."
In the distance Calypso could hear the wedding music. Her heart began to beat faster with anticipation. She almost took a step forward, but paused to look at Leo. His frown remained as he watched her.
"Are you going to stop me?" the nymph demanded.
He shook his head and stepped aside, "No."
A small part of her felt disappointed. Did he really come all of this way to not be the hero? She gave him one last glance as she began her walk down the isle. The music seemed to infest her ears as she grew closer to her future. A smile curled onto her face when she saw Percy standing patiently at the end of the isle, but he had no reaction when seeing her.
"Don't do this!" A familiar voice shouted.
Calypso turned her head slightly and saw the other demigods and mortals tied to chairs. Sally looked worse for wear and Paul continued to glare at her as if he was plotting her murder. Annabeth was thrashing and kicking and screaming in her seat. Her curly blond hair was flying wildly around her head. The other demigods she didn't recognize, but it seemed like a small matter.
Annabeth shouted again, "You aren't any better than the gods who trapped you here!"
The sea nymph looked back at Percy who still gazed, almost drunkenly, at her. She bit her lips as she hastened her pace towards the alter. Gaea formed right next to Percy. She smiled darkly and outreached her hand, beckoning Calypso closer. Calypso gave a weary smile as she stepped right next to Percy.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today..."
Calypso tuned out what Gaea was saying as she studied Percy's face. His skin was tan and she could see faint freckles on his noes and cheeks. How did she not notice them before? They were yet another thing about him that she adored. She resisted the urge to caress his face.
"If any one objects speak now or forever hold your piece." When the sea nymph looked at the crowed she saw that the group was gaged with tree vines. "No? Well Percy Jackson do you take Calypso the daughter of Atlas as your lawfully wedded wife? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?"
"I...I..." A pained look crossed Percy's face. Cupid appeared behind him and held his shoulder, making the demigod's red eyes flash. "I do."
Gaea smiled, "And do you Calypso daughter of Atlas take Percy Jackson as your lawfully wedded husband? To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, till death do you part?"
Muffled screams reached her ears. Calypso looked at the teary faced daughter of Athena. Annabeth was causing herself pain pulling against the vines that held her, but she didn't seem to care. Was Calypso doing the right thing? Her eyes wandered back to Percy whose eyes still seemed to glow. Every so often he twitched painfully.
Leo's voice seemed to echo in her head, "You have to let him go."
"I don't." She whispered as she looked to her feet. "I thought that everything would be perfect. Marrying you Percy, but I know that you don't love me how I thought I loved you. The wedding's off."
Calypso looked up at Percy who still remained stoic in his expression. A tear rolled down her face as she realized what she had just said. Slowly she got up onto her toes and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. As long as he could be happy she would be. She whispered in his ear, "Go to her."
In her rage Gaea released her prisoners, "NO!"
The sea nymph watched as Annabeth scrambled from her chair and up the isle.
"Percy!" She shouted. Her relay towards them was cut short when she was ensnared by some kind of net. "Ahhh!
Calypso followed the line from the net. Phorcys stood smugly off to the side as he released the rope. He pulled his bag from around his shoulder and dug through it. Percy was standing next to Calypso massaging his painful temples. The sea nymph was still too stunned to say anything.
"About time you showed up." Gaea muttered.
Phorcys rolled his eyes, "Well I was a little tied up."
"Just kill the girl already."
The sea god pulled a harpoon gun from his fishing bag and began to aim it. "Just one moment."
FASWOOSH
Calypso let out a scream and covered her eyes. She had changed her mind too late. This was all her fault.
