Chapter 5

Early next day, Roderick was still asleep in his bed when he was woken up by noises downstairs. He put on his glasses and slowly walked down to check it out. The moment he got downstairs. He received a hug from someone blond and slim. He knew who it was. It was his cousin Kate. She is at the same age as him. He and Kate are really close since they were little. Kate is beautiful kinda like Quinn but has the same skin as Roderick. She has a long black hair with some curls at the tip of her hair and beautiful dark eyes that could read your thoughts

"Roderick! I missed you. How have you been?" Kate said as she jumped to hug him. Roderick just smiled. They haven't seen each other like forever

"I'm fine. A little sleepy though. I could tell it was you from upstairs" He said as he took Kate in his arms hugging her

"Really? How?" Kate asked him curiously

"You can be kinda loud sometimes" Roderick teased her and released her from his hug

"What's that supposed to mean?" Kate said as she playfully punch his arm

"Just joking. What are you doing here?" Roderick said as he look at her

"Can't I visit my favorite cousin once in a while?" Kate said as she tried to look angry at him.

"I'll be staying here for a week. I need some time off from school"

"Is that even possible? How can you skip school?" Roderick asked as he raised his brow looking at her

"Well, I helped the school win the Inter-school singing competition so they owe me. Don't worry, I can catch up easily" Kate said as she looked him in the eye

"Well I'm going back to sleep. See you later" Roderick said as he began going up the stairs when he heard his mom calling him

"Roderick? Aren't you going to Glee Club today?" She said and Roderick cursed under his breathe

"Oh, I forgot about it. I gotta get ready" Roderick said as he raced up the stairs almost tripping on one. He took a quick bath and changed into his usual attire. He took a piece of bread from the table and raced to the door.

"Can I follow you Roderick?" Kate asked as he was heading towards the door

"Why do you want to do that?" Roderick ask her curiously

"I just want to see McKinley High. Please Roderick." She said looking at him with her best puppy dog eyes

"I don't know Kate" Roderick said as he tried not to look at her

"Please Roderick" She said as she came even closer to him. Roderick kept moving backward keeping his distance

"Alright. You can come" Roderick said as he gave up. He just couldn't say no to her.

"Yay! Thank you!" Kate said as she gave him a brief hug before rushing to her room. She grabbed a small bag and quickly followed him

After 10 minutes, they arrived at McKinley. Roderick rushed towards the choir room. He totally forgot about Kate as he raced towards the choir room. He didn't heard Kate's voice as he ran. He reached the room huffing for air but he managed to calm himself before coming in. As soon as he came in, he saw all of them talking to each other.

"Hey Roderick" Jane said as she waved at him. He waved back and sat beside her.

"I almost forgot that we have a meeting today" Roderick said and Jane looked at him

"Well it is not actually a meeting. It's the same as the other days. So we have to sing our solo's today or tomorrow" Jane said to him

"Where's Ms. Berry?" Roderick asked as he looked around

"She hasn't arrived yet" Jane said to him. The moment they were talking about Rachel. There she was walking in with Kate. Roderick gasped as he forgot about her

"Look who I found" Rachel said as Kate looked around and noticed Roderick.

"Roderick! Why did you left me at your car?" Kate said as she stood in front of him. Jane was shocked and wondered who she was

"I'm sorry Kate. I was in a rush. I thought you already familiar with this school" Roderick blushed as Kate stared at him and then patted his head lightly.

"Luckily I found Ms. Berry. You didn't told me that she was your teacher"

"Why should I? You didn't even ask" Roderick said as Kate started to look away

"Well you could have told me. I am a big fan of hers"

"How should I know?"

"We've been together for so long but you still don't know much about me" Kate said and Jane finally interrupted her

"Excuse me but who are you? Why are you talking to Roderick like that?" Jane asked as she defended Roderick. She was really curious on what did she meant by they've been together for so long.

"Who's asking?" Kate asked as she turned her attention on Jane. Roderick wanted to run from there.

"My name is Jane Hayward. Could you tell me who you are?" Jane asked her as she calmed herself so that she will not slap her

"My name is Kate Murray. So you're Jane" Kate said as she looked at her up and down

"What do you mean by that?" Jane asked her. Kate was about to answer her when Roderick interrupted

"Kate, please stop showing your acting skills here. There are other ways to get to know people you know" Roderick said and Kate smiled.

"Thought you never asked. I was tired of playing the bad girl here. Sorry if you're angry Jane" Kate said as she smiled at her

"All of that was an act?" Jane asked her while looking at her while the others looked shocked

"Kate is the best actress in her school. She have been in a couple of commercials. She had to pick today to show her skills on being a bad girl"

"I thought you liked it. I won't do it again. Please don't tell my mom Roderick" Kate said and Roderick just nodded.

"That was really entertaining. Now let's get to some singing shall we?" Rachel said and Kate raised her hands.

"Yes Kate?" Kate stood up and went in front of her

"Can I sing a song Ms. Berry?" She asked and Rachel quickly nodded.

"Take the stage Kate" Rachel said as she took a seat

"I'll be singing Good Girl by Carrie Underwood. Hope you guys will enjoy it" Kate took the center and the music started singing

Jane looked shocked. Kate was really good like Rachel berry good. She started to get jealous of her

The song finished and everyone was up on their feet clapping their hands hard except for Jane. Kate was exhausted after she finished singing it. She put the mic down and bow her head. Not long after that, the day ended. All of them started to go back.

"We'll be going back now. Goodbye everyone!" Kate said enthusiastically as she held Roderick's hand. Jane was jealous looking at them as they walked off.
