Chapter 6

Roderick was on his bed listening to some music through his headphone when someone open his door and took off his headphones. He sat up and looked at who was it.

"Kate. Have you ever heard of knocking before entering someone's room?" Roderick said while looking at her.

"Believe me, I have been knocking like a million times. You do know that you can't hearanything when you wear your headphones" Kate said and he nodded

"You're right. So what are you doing here?" Roderick asked her while looking at her. She sat on the bed beside her

"Actually I got a pair of tickets to the Maroon 5 concert tomorrow night. I want to go but I have something to do tomorrow unfortunately. I thought you might be interested?" Kate asked and Roderick smiled widely

"They are awesome. How did you even got this tickets anyway?" Roderick asked her

"I bought it with my own money? I actually bought them online and I just got them today. Do you want them or not?" Kate asked as she held the tickets. Roderick took it smiling happily

"Of course I want it. Thanks a lot Kate"

"You're welcome Roderick but who will you bring tomorrow?" Kate asked him while staring at him

"I got someone in mind. She adores Maroon 5"

"Could this person that you're talking about is Jane?" Kate asked and Roderick blushed while looking down

"How did you know?"

"You seriously think that I didn't know that you like her. Why haven't you dated her yet?" Kate asked and Roderick looked away as he thought of Mason and Jane

"Firstly, she has a boyfriend. Secondly, Jane and I are only friends. Not more than that" Roderick said while Kate kept looking at him closely

"Does she know how you feel about her?" Kate asked and Roderick shook his head

"She doesn't know and it's better that way" Roderick said and that annoyed Kate a little

"And you're going to hold your feelings for her for the rest of your life? It's not like you're going to live forever"

"I know but what if she doesn't feel the same. It will be awkward and I will lose my best friend"

"You should take the risk Roderick. You'll never know what will happen. Just take a leap of faith" Kate said and Roderick could only listen to her

"I'll better deliver this ticket to her. I'll call her first" Roderick said as he took his phone and dialed her number while Kate waited patiently

"Hello? Roderick?"

"Hello Jane. Where are you?" Roderick said smiling and that made Kate smiled

"Home alone. I'm really bored actually. Why?"

"Can I come to your house? I need to give you something"

"Sure. When will you come here?"

"I'll be there in 15 minutes. See you later?"

"Ok" Jane said as she hung up. Roderick slid off his bed.

"I'm going to Jane's." Roderick said simply as he quickly prepared himself and rushed towards his car and drove to Jane's house.

"The love missile has launch" Kate said smiling hoping for the best. Then she thought of a brilliant Idea. She took her bike from Roderick's garage and quickly followed Roderick's car from behind.

After 15 minutes, Roderick arrived at Jane's house. He quickly walked towards her door and knocked it. Jane quickly opened it and hugged him as he stood there

"Come in Roderick" Jane said as she invited him in. Roderick nodded and came in. He took a seat on the sofa while looking around the house

"Want something to drink?" Jane said as she went to the kitchen

"Just a tin of soda would be fine" Roderick said and Jane took a tin of soda from the fridge. She came back and hand it to him. At the same time, Kate arrived and quickly hid behind some bushes just in front of the living room. She could hear them talk and silently hear them

"So what is this thing that you want to give me?" Jane asked and Roderick took the tickets from his pocket

"I got some tickets to a Maroon 5 concert tomorrow night and I thought you would be interested" Roderick said and Jane jumped because she was shocked and excited. She took a ticket from him with a huge smile plastered on her face

"Of course I would be interested! Where did you get these tickets?" Jane asked and Roderick looked at her while trying not to blush. Kate took a peek and her plan was working

"Actually, it was from Kate. She bought it but she couldn't make it so she gave it to me" Roderick said and Jane sighed. She was kinda annoyed that she heard him say her name

"Oh. What did Kate have tomorrow night? A TV commercial again?" Jane said in an angry and annoyed voice. Roderick was a little shocked by her reaction

"I don't know. Do you have something against Kate or something?" Roderick asked her and Jane just look at him. Kate continued to listen but shocked at the same time

"I don't have something against Kate. Why do you say that?" Jane lied as he tried not to lose control

"Because everytime I say something about Kate…."Roderick hasn't finished his words when Jane interrupted him

"PLEASE STOP SAYING THAT NAME! I HATE HER ALRIGHT. YOU GOT ME. I HATE THE WAY THAT SHE TREATED YOU WHEN SHE WERE IN THE CHOIR ROOM. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY IS SHE YOUR GIRLFRIEND" Jane snapped and both Roderick and Kate was shocked and speechless

"You don't understand, Kate is…" Roderick was about to explain that Kate was his cousin when Jane interrupted him again.

"DIDN'T I SAID DON'T SAY THAT NAME AGAIN. CAN YOU PLEASE LEAVE NOW RODERICK AND YOU CAN TAKE YOUR TICKET WITH YOU" Jane said as she threw the ticket at him. Roderick picked the ticket up and slowly walked towards the door looking down. Kate is really pissed at how things turn out

"You keep this ticket Jane. I'll put this on the table" Roderick said as he placed it under a book on the table. "You can still go to the concert alone."

"Goodbye Jane" Roderick said but Jane didn't even answered him. He continued to look down and went to his car and drove off. Kate quickly came out from the bushes pissed off. She practically banged on the door. Jane was really pissed off too

"WHAT THE HELL!" She said as she opened the door. She was shocked at finding Kate In front of her seething with anger.

"What are you doing here?" Jane asked in an angry and annoyed tone. At that moment, Kate slapped her and that startled her

"What is wrong with you? Roderick was so nice to you and you treated him like that. I'm disappointed Jane" Kate said in an angry tone

"You should have seen the way that you treated him in the choir room. You're much worse than me" Jane said as she looked pissed off

"I have been treating him like that since we were little kids. He likes it but that doesn't mean that you can treat him like that" Kate said and this annoyed Jane even more

"Why. Is it because you're his…" Jane was interrupted by Kate

"Cousin" Kate said and Jane jaw dropped to the ground

"What do you mean cousin?" Jane asked finally calming down

"Roderick and me are cousins. Did you actually think I'm his girlfriend?" Kate said and Jane closed her mouth with her hand. She was shocked

"I thought you were his girlfriend." Jane said and realized what she has done. She looked down feeling regretfull

"Well, you won't be his girlfriend looking at the current state. You don't even know that he likes you right?" Kate said and Jane slowly looked up

"Roderick likes me?"

"He really likes you. Everytime he comes home, he would talk about you the whole time" Kate said and Jane started to cry

"I don't know. I messed up really bad"

"Good thing that you know your mistake but are you happy now that you hurt my cousin's feelings tonight. He was only inviting you to the concert because he thought about you. If he become depressed. I'm blaming you for this" Kate said as she walked out from her house. Jane was utterly shocked hearing the news. She sat on the floor crying and regretting everything she said to him.

Meanwhile, Roderick arrived in his home rather depressed. He slowly entered his house and slowly entered his room locking it and went to the corner and sat there. He was thinking of a million things right now and the thing that he thought the most is Jane hates him.
