Saturday (January 14th); Fluttershy's POV

It had been almost two months since Light had slipped into a coma, and about three seconds since he came out of it.

Light had been dealt a sickening shock to his heart. The death of his sister, and the way it was revealed to him, through a casual letter sent by her place of work, was far too much. His heart had given out on him. The doctors managed to bring him back, but he had been weak. I had not left his side since.

He had been dealt blow after blow after blow, all in the course of a few months. After I had explained what had been happening, they had seen the scars, they told me it was a miracle his mind hadn't given up on him before his heart hit him.

Many times, he had started mumbling sister over and over again. And when he did, I could see the tears crawl down his face.

The doctors kept telling me to let him go, that it was unlikely that he would come out of it. They kept telling me that not only had his physical heart given out on him, but his emotional one probably had too.

However, I was determined to get him back. I would hold the pony I loved in my arms if it was the last thing I did. To help him through it, and to calm his nightmares, I sang to him. Everyday.

I hadn't been sure he would be able to pull through. I may have loved him, but I had to be rational a little bit.

I also suspected he blamed himself for coming between Dash and I. He looked sadder than I had ever seen him outside of his emotional coma from Rain. And the way he ran off pointed to it. It made me think that he thought he wasn't good enough for me. The same way I thought I wasn't good enough for him.

As the days had passed. My resolve had been slowly chipped away by the thought that we shouldn't be together.

Both of us had been hurt more than the rest of our lives combined since meeting each other. Light more so than me. It was like the longer we knew each other, the worse the things that happened to us were.

"Fluttershy?" He asked. He sounded weak.

I looked over to him, not expecting him to look back. He had said my name more than a few times while in his coma.

"Light? Oh Celestia!" I rose out of my chair and rushed to him. I basically flung myself down onto him, giving him a deep kiss. I felt his arms wrap around me.

I kept up the kiss as long as I dared. When I pulled away, he had a confused expression.

"Why am I in a hospital?" He asked me.

"What do you remember?" I had to approach this carefully. He was in no condition to hear of his sister's death a second time. I suspected he didn't remember.

"I remember... watching Dash fly. Then nothing." He said.

"But, I feel that something is wrong. Something is missing." He told me with a frown.

"Everything's fine, Light." I put my hand on his cheek and he smiled.

"I'm going to go get a nurse, alright?" I asked him. He nodded.

I stood up straight and went down to the front desk. I talked to the nurse there and she said she would send somepony up.

I went back to Light's room and waited outside the door for the nurse. When she arrived, I pulled her to the side.

"He... doesn't remember anything bad that happened, so please, don't mention any of it." I told her. She nodded.

We walked in the room and she performed a check up for Light. He would have to stay in the hospital for a few more days until he could leave.

About half an hour later, the nurse left. I sat down in a chair next to Light's bed.

"What happened while I have been in here?" He asked.

"Nothing much. Aloe and Lotus finished that room that you and Aloe started. But, you've been out for almost two months, so, they had to let you go." I needed to see if he could handle this, if he couldn't, there was no way I could tell him about his sister.

He just nodded. "That is fair. But why am I in here?" He asked.

I had to think. "What happened was... Rainbow was doing a new trick and she... landed, on you. Really hard." I managed to get out. He looked like he didn't buy it at all, but he didn't say anything.

We stayed silent for awhile. Eventually, the girls arrived.

"How are you doing, Light?" Twilight asked.

I gave her a look that told her to drop it. She did. The other girls got the message as well.

Light still answered though. "I feel like something is missing. And it hurts. But I do not know what." He told them. His expression was one of pain.

Rainbow looked like she was having a hard time with this.

"Did you perfect your new trick?" Light asked her.

I felt my eyes go wide. Rainbow looked taken aback.

I sent her a look and she nodded.

"Uh...great." She said.

"That is good. I am sorry I got in the way at the party." He said. Rainbow's eyes gained a look of comprehension.

"You didn't get in the way, I just messed it up." She told him. Rainbow never admitted defeat unless it was to us. Maybe she cared for Light more than I had thought.

"Can I talk to all of you in the hallway?" I asked them. I gave them a look and they all nodded.

We filed out of the room. Rarity closed the door behind her.

"What's going on, Shy?" Rainbow asked.

"He doesn't remember anything after seeing some of your tricks. And I'd like to keep it that way. We don't mention anything about his sister or our fight. He can't take another blow so soon. It'd probably kill him." I looked into the room with a frown, worried for him.

"What, you think I'm going to spill the beans?" She asked, angry.

"Rainbow, ya need to calm down." Applejack told her.

"You're not the one being accused here." She snapped.

"I'm not accusing you, Rainbow Dash. I'm saying I don't want him to know right now. When I think it's the right time, I will tell him. I'm just explaining to you all what the situation is." I explained to her.

She crossed her arms and looked away.

"So, what happenes now?" Rarity asked me.

"In a few days, I'll take him home. Then, I'll see what happens." I told her.

"Is there anything we can do to help?" Pinkie Pie asked.

"No, I don't think so. I'm not sure what he needs right now." I replied.

"At least he's awake, we can be thankful for that, right?" Applejack asked.

I nodded.

I looked through the window again. He was getting antsy. "We should go back inside." I told them.

I opened the door and stepped in. The girls followed, but I didn't see Rainbow Dash.

"Where is Dash?" He asked.

"She had to leave." Rarity answered.

For the rest of the day, we just talked about random things. Rainbow Dash didn't come back.

Wednesday (January 18th)

"Come on, Light. You can do it." I assured him. We were currently trying to get up the stairs at home.

His heart had not fully healed, but he had been able to make the trip home. As a little boost, the doctor had given him a cane to use if he needed it.

"I can not." He said, halfway up the steps. He collapsed onto the step he was on and put his head in his hands.

I was on the step above him and sat down as well.

I extended my wing and wrapped it around him along with my arm.

"You can do it, Light. I believe in you. All you have to do is try." I reassured him. I wanted to keep pushing him, to help him get better. The doctors said the best thing for his heart, was to put it through the works. There was little chance it would give out again from physical trauma since the attack had been mostly mentally induced. So, putting it through its paces was a good thing.

Light's muscles were a little atrophied as well, so we needed to work on that too.

I helped him stand and we started again. We made it to the top step before he collapsed.

"I am sorry I am so weak." He said.

"It's just a side affect from being stuck in a bed for two months. You will be better in no time." I told him.

He nodded. Once again, I helped him up. We hobbled down the hallway to the bathroom. Light had wanted to take a shower before we went to bed.

I helped him in the bathroom. He sat down on the toilet while I went to get some new clothes.

I came back and he was already undressed and had started the water. He was leaning against the wall and he looked exhausted. I wasn't sure how he was going to be able to take a shower without collapsing.

"Are you sure you want to take a shower? What about a bath? That would be easier." I suggested. He shook his head.

"Do you want me to get in with you?" I asked. He shook his head once more.

"Alright." I said, a little sad. Ever since he woke up, he seemed to be distancing himself from me and the girls. It didn't bode well for when he found out about his sister.

"I'll be in bed if you need me." I told him.

I left the bathroom and went to our bedroom. I undressed and put on my pajamas. A standard pajama bottom and tank top. I climbed into the bed and waited for him.

I listened to him take a shower. Eventually, the water turned off. I waited another ten minutes then heard his hoofsteps, slowly, walk along the hallway. I heard him open the door and close it, then climb into bed.

I expected him to go straight to sleep; but, I felt his arms grab me and wrap me in them, holding me tightly to his body. I wriggled my wing out and wrapped it around him while intertwining our legs. It was the same position we would sometimes sleep in after we mated, so we could feel closer to each other. Know the other was there.

He apparently did need me afterall. I was happy for that, but distressed at the same time. If he needed me, that means there was something still wrong. I worried that he knew about his sister, but I wasn't going to try and find out. If he didn't know, I might accidentally tell him while confronting him.

I sighed into the embrace, letting sleep take me for another night. I dreamed about what the next few weeks held for us.
