Chapter 19
"Naruto you don't have to do this." Sakura said to him as he walked towards his car. Naruto was gripping onto Sakura's hand tightly. Sakura continued to avert her strength to her feet making it harder for Naruto to drag her towards his car.
"Neh- Sakura-chan, come on stop making it hard for me to get you in the car!" he shouted.
"No! I don't want to go Naruto!" she protested before biting his hand and running back towards the door to the house.
"Sakura!"
"No!"
"Sakura!" he repeated as he walked over to her.
Sakura nearly made it in, unfortunately for her she was a second too late as Naruto gripped his arms around her waist and began to pull her away from the door.
"Let go!"
"No!"
"Naruto!"
"Sakura!"
"LET GO!" they demanded in unison. Sakura refused to let go of the door beam as Naruto refused to let go of her body.
Naruto began grunting as he tried to peel her off, but Sakura's grip was tight.
"You don't have to take me Naruto!" she proclaimed. Sakura wasn't going to lie to herself, she wants to see the cherry blossom trees more than anything, but that doesn't mean its okay for Naruto to be the one to take her. Sakura finds herself always turning to him when she's in a runt; giving him trouble was the last thing Sakura wanted to do.
Even if I'm upset about Sasuke standing me up, it doesn't mean Naruto can save him from his troubles.
"No! You think that I'll be able to sit at home content knowing you were crying because Sasuke left you like that?!" he shouted back at her.
Sakura's hands were getting slippery, and it was starting to hurt her fingers from gripping onto the beam of the door.
Shit, my hand's slipping...
"It's fine! I can go another time, please go home!"
"Sakura!"
"Naruto!"
"STOP BEING SO DIFFICULT!" again, their voices screamed at each other in unison. About a minute later, Sakura's fingers finally separated from the wooden beam and Naruto let out a laugh in victory as he quickly gripped her in his arms and threw her over his shoulders.
"Haha yes! I win!"
"Let me go! I don't want to go Naruto!"
"Too late, we're going" Naruto swung the car door open and threw Sakura inside- gently of course.
He leaned against the door while Sakura protested from inside the car.
"Please Naruto, you don't have to do this!" she pleaded.
Naruto turned around and smashed the side of his cheek against the pavement of the window making Sakura smile a little.
Naruto quickly ran to the driver's seat and sat inside.
Sakura was red in the cheeks, and her arms were crossed. A slight pouty-frown was placed on her face.
Naruto turned to face her to see she pointedly turned her face away from him, still pouting.
"Sakura..."
"Hmph! this is ridiculous." she commented.
"Sakura buckle up, we're going okay?"
"I don't feel like going anymore, so why are you making things difficult for yourself?"
Naruto's expression softened when he realized what this was really about.
He mentally sighed.
She thinks she's...sigh...Sakura.
He gently smiled as his hand went under her chin and turned her face towards him.
"Sakura..." his voice was soft. It made Sakura's heart clench but she refused to break down into his hands. She truly felt bad for giving him trouble and regrets ever telling him about Sasuke.
"Look at me please?" he asked her.
Sakura's face was turning away but Naruto's hand turned her back towards his.
"Don't be feel bad okay? This isn't trouble for me...it's not a bother, I'm not mad, it's not even a big deal so please don't feel bad...stop thinking you're giving me trouble it's hurting me." Naruto's voice sounded much too vulnerable for Sakura.
She couldn't stay shut for longer, so she sighed.
"Sorry, it's just.." she paused, trying to control her emotions again, Naruto's gestures always moves her it's hard to keep calm when he does things like this for her. "I don't want to get in your way...please don't feel the need to rescue me every time he does things like this okay? It's not your job to fix his problems..." she continued.
Naruto poked her cheek with his thumb and chuckled, "you're silly Sakura-chan, anything I do for you, is for you not for Sasuke. I'm here because I want to be here, not because I have to. Hehe, I know I'm stupid sometimes but I do know how to make my own choices" he joked.
"Stop." she quickly said, "you're not stupid, don't let anyone ever tell you that, got it?"
"Eh?" Naruto looked at her with an innocent look on his face making Sakura giggle a bit.
"You're silly, I agree, but stupid? Mmm I think you're brilliant Naruto- thank you for this..."
Naruto laughed and glomped her in his arms, "haha aww see now ya got me all happy, I'm happy to do this for you Sakura-chan! Now buckle up okay?"
Naruto pulled the seat belt over her and clicked it in place. Sakura blushed when the smell of Naruto's cologne entered her nose.
Goodness, he smells great. She thought to herself as Naruto made his way back to his seat, and buckled himself in.
"Alright! Go the park we go! Ready Sakura-chan!?"
Sakura clenched her fist tightly and raised it to the roof, "let's gooooooooo!"
"Haha alright!" he cheered. Naruto started the car, and off they went to the beautiful park of Northern Konoha.
Naruto parked his car in the park's parking lot. They walked out of the car and Sakura almost immediately falls into a trance from the beautiful scenery she's witnessing before her very eyes. She's in awe, the park was indeed the most beautiful she's ever seen. There were enormous cherry blossom trees everywhere. The ground was covered in a sea of pink and white petals, leaving very little patches of green on the floor, and in the center there was a giant pond. A gorgeous fountain in the middle, people were riding little swan-shaped boats around the pond, as well as little ducks swimming near the fountain, it was so breath taking.
It's like a dream... Sakura looked around everywhere hoping to get a glimpse of everything. It wasn't until Naruto chuckled that Sakura finally fell out of her dream-like trance.
"Seems like you like this place already." he laughed as he walked over to her side. Sakura had no idea that while she was looking at the park, Naruto was staring at her to witness her reaction the whole time.
"It's beautiful" she said turning to him.
"It gets better" he told her extending his arm to her.
Sakura looked down at his arm quickly, and looked up at him.
Naruto tilts his head motioning her to lock her arms with him.
She bites on her lip and slowly locks her arms with him and Naruto laughs as he pulls her closer, making Sakura wrap her arm around his tighter.
"Wait till you see the other trees Sakura!" he says to her and Sakura's smile widens. She blushes the second she feels Naruto's arm flex, making his muscles harden a bit.
Her eyes widen a little causing her face to redden even more.
He's really strong...she thinks to herself, astonished.
Naruto looks down at her and smiles, "why are you so red?"
Sakura shakes her head and hides into his arm, as his arm moves around her body pulling her in.
I can smell his cologne again, and his arm is making my sides tickle... I want him to move but...Sakura cuddles against Naruto's body as his arm naturally tightens around her. He's so warmmmm wahhh I love this!
"And this is..." Naruto's voice was muted out by Sakura's lack of focus when she looks around to see a lot of young couples are here at the park as well. Almost every guy had his arm around the girl next to him, that's when Sakura looked to see Naruto was doing the same thing to her.
If he keeps holding me like this people are going to think him and I are...
With that thought, Sakura starts shifting away from Naruto and takes in a deep breath. It was then that she realized she was getting dizzy from Naruto's warmth, and scent. Naruto stops talking and suddenly looks at her.
"Eh? You okay Sakura-chan?"
Sakura laughs nervously as she quickly fans herself knowing her face looked like a tomato right now.
"Yeah hehe um" she paused, "it's a little hot is...all" her voice trailed off and suddenly Naruto flushed pink as he looked down to see his arm wrapped around her waist.
"Yah! Ahh! Sorry-" he starts to rub the back of his head as his arm quickly moves to his side making the two flushed a deeper red.
"It-it's fine! Erm..." think Sakura think, this is awkward.
"Let's go see the trees!" she says to him quickly as she grabs his hand and runs down the pathway towards the bigger cherry blossom trees.
"I can't believe you've never been to Northern Konoha before Sakura-chan" he says as he swings their arms back and forth. Sakura and Naruto have been walking around the park for about an hour now. She watched in amazement as Naruto showed her all the different parts of the park, from the pond- to the food stands, to the more secluded areas.
"Well...I guess I never got the chance to come here, there are a lot of places I haven't been to that I'd like to see" she replied to him as she looked around to see the number of people were getting lower, we're getting to the private areas now aren't we?
She smiled as Naruto stopped swinging their arms and placed his hand into his pocket. Sakura looked over to see the picnic basket over his shoulder.
"Oh sorry Naruto- I can carry the basket now"
"No it's a little too heavy for you Sakura" he told her as he ruffled her hair a bit.
Sakura's cheeks puffed out as she frowned at the blonde haired Uzumaki.
"It is not! I'm strong enough"
"Oh yeah?"
"Yeah!"
"Let's see those muscles then" he laughed.
Sakura paused and flexed both her arms, "look!"
Naruto laughed harder as he turned to her and pinched her dainty arms.
"Oh yeah, you're ripped."
"Pfffffft, this is gold right here" she joked.
"Yeah wish I was half as rippled as you" Naruto added as he pulled his sleeve up and flexed his arm revealing the muscles that rippled through his skin.
Sakura's eyes widened, thankfully Naruto couldn't see that.
"Pfffft, that's nothing" she cooed.
Naruto chuckled as he put his arm around her shoulder pulling her closer to his body, "oh yeah?"
"Yeah!" she argued.
"Wanna follow up on those words Sakura?" he challenged.
"Sure!" she giggled as the two walked further near the trees, the stone pavement was now gone which means they're deeper inside the forest.
"Hmm let's make it more interesting shall we?"
"Ooooh! Like what?"
"Liiiikeee, loser has to do one thing the winner says."
Sakura gasped and started to laugh.
"Are you serious Naruto?"
Naruto looked down at her and smirked, "of course"
"Ah, but..."
"What? You're not strong enough Sakura?" he asked, teasing her.
"Oh bring it on Uzumaki!"
"Haha, what a cute fighting voice." Naruto pressed his cheek against hers as the two laughed to themselves.
Sakura walked in front of him, and turned to Naruto as she began to walk backwards their hands laced together.
"Mm Sakura"
"Hm?"
"Close your eyes for a bit okay? I wanna settle at a special spot."
"Eh, why can't I look?"
"Because it's a secret!"
"Aww that's not fair!"
"Come on pleeaaaaasee Sakura-chan" he pouted and Sakura quickly gave in.
"Fine" she huffed.
"Okay, that means you have to take those glasses off."
"Wahh!? Why?"
"Because I can't tell if your eyes are open or closed with those on!"
"Ah but-"
"Nope"
"Naruto"
"Nope"
"Ah-"
"Off"
"But-"
"Now" he said and Sakura pouted as she slowly took her glasses off, the sudden refreshing air made Sakura's eyes breathe.
Sakura looked up to see Naruto's cheeks flushed a little pink, making Sakura mirror his blushed tone.
"Mm...Wha-What?"
"Damn" he whispered harshly as he placed a hand over his face.
"Wha-what.?"
"Ahh nothing" he quickly said and shook his head, before looking up and smiling at her.
"No matter how many times I see it, the feeling I get when I see you like that really gets to me"
Sakura gasped a little, the blood was rushing to her face causing her to feel a little dazed.
"Oh we need something to tie your eyes with..Hmm."
Naruto checked his pockets and Sakura patted her dress when she patted up towards her hair.
"Ahh my ribbon!" she pulled one end of it and slipped it out of her hair.
Her long pink hair complimented the cream color dress and her ivory skin beautifully.
Naruto's heart skipped a little at the sight of how her eyes just tied her whole look together.
She's so...he felt his mouth dry a little and he gulped.
Naruto shook his head and covered his face again, for some reason looking at Sakura for too long always made him feel a bit unsettling.
"Naruto are you okay?" Sakura asked concerned.
Naruto nodded his head he looked up to see her cheeks cherry red, her bangs set in place, and her big emerald eyes glowing from the sunlight rays. Sakura's skin was glowing a beautiful ivory color, it made Naruto feel rather queasy again; he immediately stared at the floor, his hand rubbing the back of his head again.
"Yo-You" he paused and let out a very nervous laugh, "you could really give someone a heart attack with that look Sakura."
Sakura tilted her head thoughtfully as she stared at him, trying to make sense of his words.
"What look?" she asked point blank.
"Uhh.." he looked to see she was serious, she had no idea just how beautiful she looks right now.
Naruto closed his eyes and smiled for a second before laughing, "Nothing, never mind, come here! Let me tie that for you."
He gently pulled her into his arms and brought the ribbon to her eyes, and slowly tied a knot. Naruto held both her shoulders and slowly turned her around.
Sakura felt his breath against her ear, and his chest pressed against her back. It was making her really nervous.
Ba-thump...Ba-thump...
"Can you see anything Sakura?" Naruto whispered into her ear.
Sakura mentally gasped, and shook her head 'no'
He chuckled into her ear as he wrapped his arms around her, "I'm going to walk you through this place, so don't be afraid okay?"
Her mouth was dry, she was at a loss for words, and her heart was pounding but Sakura still managed to nod her head at him.
His soft chuckle rumbled through her body.
"Don't be so nervous just trust me, okay?"
Sakura gave him another shaky nod and took in a deep breath, ahh where did all the air go? BREATHE Sakura BREATHE.
Naruto moved his arms away from her body and gently to her hand; he gripped it tightly and began walking her towards the sacred place.
"Sakura your hands are so cold." Naruto mentioned to her as Sakura took in a deep breath.
"I know...my hands are always cold but" she giggled, "your hands are really hot, did you know that Naruto?"
"Hahahahaha yeah, my dad's hands are like that too" Naruto told her. He held her little pale hand tighter. He liked the feeling of her cold hands against his warm ones; it felt like she was cooling him off, as well as him warming her fingers up.
He chuckled when he felt how her hands were slightly clammy.
"Neh, Sakura-chan why are you so nervous?"
Sakura gasped, "I'm no-not nervous"
"Well your hands don't seem to think so"
Sakura gasped again and tried to pull her hand away but Naruto pulled her into his arms, blind Sakura had to think twice before realizing she was tucked inside Naruto's arms again.
"Man, this sucks" she sighed.
"What sucks?"
"I came to see the trees instead I'm being walked through the forest: blind" she pouted.
"I promise, a little more okay?" Naruto laughed as he walked them through the step ways and over to his secret spot.
Sakura felt Naruto's warm form suddenly stop and walk away from her.
"Ahh- Naruto?" she asked as she moved her arms around looking for Naruto.
"We're here, but don't take the ribbon off yet!"
He moved in front of her and slowly walked her to the middle of the circle.
"Okay" he told her, "you can look now."
Excited, Sakura quickly pulled the ribbon off of her eyes and instantly she was amazed.
Her eyes grew bigger, as she gaped at the huge cherry blossom trees. They formed a circle around the empty spot she was standing on. There were mountains, literally mountains of cherry blossom petals around the perimeter of the circle.
"Oh my..." she was at a loss for words.
"It's beautiful..." she whispered.
Naruto's eyes slightly widened as he stared at her, he felt his heart squeeze just a bit as he watched Sakura closely, admiring her.
"Yeah..." he whispered more to himself, "it's really beautiful..."
"ah-hey" Sakura looked over at Naruto and caught him staring at her for a second, before he quickly turned away, making Sakura blush a bit as she watched the blonde's cheeks redden.
Naruto cleared his throat, "yeah?"
"Oh, umm..." she laughed nervously, "I was going to just ask why this place is a secret for you.."
"Oh" Naruto laughed as he took her hand again and pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly.
"Teme and I found this place when we were kids; no one ever comes here, at least what we know of."
"Wahhhhh really!?" she asked in disbelief, remembering Sasuke's words.
This is the spot he was probably talking about... it's really beautiful.
Sakura took in a deep breath and looked up to see Naruto smiling down at her.
"Hey Sakura?"
"Hm?" she tilted her head as Naruto's head lowered towards hers, pressing their foreheads together.
"I know you're probably still regretting the fact that you told me about Sasuke, but..."
Sakura bit down on her lip as she stared into his bright blue eyes, his hot breath hugged her face and neck, she wasn't breathing at all.
"But..?" she squeaked out.
Naruto's arms wrapped around her waist, he wasn't sure why but for some reason he couldn't pry his hands or arms away from her. Something kept making Naruto want to touch her, to hold her in his arms... nothing else came to mind other than wanting to feel this girl against him.
"But I'm really glad you told me... I'm really really really glad I got to share this place with you."
He chuckled as he pressed their noses together, Sakura gasped, and then smiled at him, the edges of her eyes were twinkling from happy tears she was holding back.
"I'm happy I told you Naruto! ...Now how about that arm wrestling match?"
Naruto's eyes grew bigger and suddenly, a fighting smirk formed on his face.
"Hahaha alright right then, let's go!"
Sakura giggled as she pushed away from him gently and walked over to the picnic basket.
Sakura sat down as Naruto plopped next to her.
"I brought a picnic blanket as well as a regular one just in case it got chilly, some snacks, lunch, drinks, some medicine, napkins, cups, extra chopsticks, backup snacks, in case we get hungry again, some extra money, in case we don't have enough for anything like gas, and some sun screen." she quickly said as she took some of the stuff out to pull the blanket out from the bottom of the basket.
Naruto stared at her in awe; she was really ready to go. Sakura took out the blanket and began to spread it out.
"I'll set up," she told him.
"Ah let me help" he said as he got up after her, only to have her run over and push him to sit back on the floor.
"No sit!" she told him, she sat on her knees before him and puffed out her cheeks, "just sit here, and let me do this, Naruto"
"But I can help" he told her, trying not to laugh; Sakura's angry face was much too cute.
"No, you carried the basket all the way here, the least I can do is set up, this'll take a few minutes, just sit here and rest okay?" She tilted her head to the right and smiled at him. Naruto bit down on his lips and cupped her face with his hands, "okay but if I see you struggle I'm going to help you, whether you like it or not."
Sakura stuck her tongue out at him and got up to spread the blanket out on the floor.
Naruto watched her, and began to ponder in his own thoughts, hm, she prepared so much in one basket haha, she was probably really looking forward to coming here...ehh, if I hadn't called her then she would've been sitting at home with all that packing gone to waste...Damn you Teme, where are you and what are you doing that's so important that you just had to ditch her like that?
Naruto was growing angry, he knew Sasuke didn't like Sakura, but breaking a promise with her like that, a promise that she obviously took to heart was crossing the line.
He watched her pat the blanket down then set out all the food one by one, carefully placing them in her own formation.
He was amused; he noticed that Sakura tends to talk to herself from time to time.
Hehe, I wonder if she knows I'm watching her right now, if it was any other person they'd probably think she's crazy.
He watched her smile to herself, as she looked down at the stuff she prepared, her bangs were still clipped to the side, but her hair naturally fell to her curves hugging her body. Naruto thought she was adorable with her glasses on, but without them Sakura was even more beautiful.
His smile grew bigger when he realized how comfortable she must be with him to be able to let her guard down like that.
"Okay it's reaaaadddddy" she sang as she ran over to Naruto and pulled him by his hand.
She pulled him over to the blanket.
"Well? I did a good job didn't I" she told him
Naruto laughed as they sat down. The smell of her food was dancing around his nose.
"Wwooooooooowwwwww" his eyes were sparkling and he felt his mouth water.
"This looks so good Sakura! I'm getting hungry just by looking at it!" his rubbed his belly and took in a big whiff; he could almost taste the delicious food she's cooked.
"We'll eat after resting a little okay?"
"Haha alright! First things first" Naruto laid down on his stomach, pulled up his sleeve and positioned his arm for her, "you ready Sakura-chan?"
Sakura laughed as she rolled up the sleeve of her cardigan and laid down her stomach, clasping her hand with his, "ready!" she claimed.
Damn it, his grip is tight, I'm gonna lose. She thought to herself as she watched an evil smile wipe across Naruto's face.
"Haha ready...1..." Their hands tightened.
"2..." their elbows positioned correctly.
"3..." Sakura squeezed her eyes shut.
"Go!" they called out together, and the arm wrestling began.
I'm gonna lose, I'm gonna lose, I'm gonna lose, she chanted in her mind, when she heard Naruto moan, "aww hey why's this harder than I expected?"
Sakura peeped one eye open to see her arm wasn't down yet.
"Eh? I'm actually" her smile widened, "I didn't lose yet!" she squealed.
"Haha yeah well not for long"
Sakura gasped, then she smiled as she put her game face on, and poised her strength to her arm.
I actually have a chance.
"Naruto are-are you letting me win?" she asked him.
Naruto pouted, "I wish I can say I was, but ehhhh why are you so strong?!" he growled out, as his arm began to dominate hers.
Sakura grunted as she pushed her arm up, a little, she kept her eyes on Naruto who suddenly looked up at her and grinned at her.
Eep! Her cheeks flushed immediately, and bam! Her arm went slamming to the floor..
"Haha Alright! I won!" he cheered and Sakura crossed her arms.
"No-Not fair!"
"Haha- you lost Sakura-chan!" he claimed pointing a finger at her.
Sakura's emerald eyes narrowed at him, "I want a rematch!"
"Fine!"
Naruto went back down and the two were at it again, this time, Sakura kept her eyes down at their hands, every time he smiles at me, my whole insides melt into a puddle, I gotta keep my focus on my hand instead.
Naruto glanced up to see Sakura's eyes directly at their hands, he grinned again.
She's avoiding my eyes. His grin widened, as he watched her closely, his eyes danced from her long thick eyelashes, to her pale pink lips that were slightly frowning now. Before Naruto realized it, his eyes wandered down to her neck then slowly to her chest to see..
His eyes widened, and his face immediately flushed red when he realized Sakura's cleavage was poking out from her dress...her pink and black laced bra was peeking from the neckline of as her breasts were pressed together emphasizing the lining of her cleavage. Naruto quickly looked down and suddenly the felt dewy- soft petals touch the back of his hand.
His head shot up from Sakura's roaring victory.
"Yay! I won!"
"Ha?!" he looked to see his hand was on the floor, "hey! Wait! ahh-!" he didn't know what to say...
"Haha who's the loser now Uzumaki?!" she proclaimed, pointing at him.
Naruto growled out, "One last match, winner takes all!"
Sakura clapped her hands and cheered as the two went back down.
They clasped hands again.
Naruto mentally beat himself for looking down at her like that and kept his eyes glued to her face, Must. Not. Look.
They began again, and Sakura's eyes were back on their hands, when she felt Naruto staring at her again.
Oh man, he's watching me again, it's making me nervous...just ignore it Sakura. Sakura suddenly felt more strength come from Naruto's hand again and she quickly glanced up to see him resting his face on his hand. She gasped, "Hey!"
"Hey what?" he laughed.
"Ah- you- grrrrrr!" She tried to munch up all her strength to her arm, but it wasn't helping as Naruto's grip was getting stronger.
She mentally gasped, was he holding back on the first match? Sakura looked up to see Naruto grinning at her.
Their eyes locked as Naruto stuck his little red tongue at her.
Sakura's eyes narrowed as she stuck her tongue back out at him.
"You're going to lose Naruto!"
"Sure, sure."
"Grrrr!" she growled out, as she kept their eyes locked.
Naruto's smile softened, and Sakura's frown was gone, her lips were shut tightly as she held back a smile.
Naruto chuckled and sighed, and she pouted her lips making him chuckle again.
"You can give up if you want Sakura."
"No way!" she was determined to win, but Naruto played along.
"Hey" he called out and Sakura looked up to see him smiling at her, the kind of smile that made Sakura's eye twitch.
Her heart was racing, as she watched Naruto's look soften up, making Sakura blush. He was giving her the same look he gave her earlier..a look that Sakura was really unfamiliar with, but it drove her really crazy inside.
Just...look..away..Sakura. She commanded herself, but she couldn't move from his gaze...no she could move, but she didn't want to. She didn't know what that look meant, but she really, really liked it...
Her cheeks were warming up as the two stared at each other, neither of them exchanging a word, when suddenly Sakura's hand went down again.
Ah! I lost. She glanced down at their hands and up at Naruto again to see him still looking at her.
She laughed a little, trying to change the fluffy atmosphere that was forming around them. When suddenly she saw Naruto get up on all fours as he tangled their fingers together and gently yanked her over to him. Naruto crawled over her a little as Sakura glued herself against the floor.
"Uhm..."
Ba-thump...Ba-thump...Why is he...
"I won..." he whispered into her ear as Naruto leaned over her body. Sakura's eyes widened at the feel of his hot breath against her neck and ear.
She was currently under Naruto's form, as his other hand was placed on the other side of Sakura, leaving her trapped underneath him.
"Ah..." she couldn't make out of what to say, the sound of her rapidly beating heart was making it harder for her to think.
Sakura took in a sharp breath when she heard Naruto softly laugh into her ear, "that means you have to do one thing I say, isn't that right, Sa-ku-ra-chan" his voice was low, and husky, it made Sakura's insides twist and turn, she couldn't breathe.
"Ah- well..."
He lowered his face towards her and Sakura squeezed her eyes shut as Naruto pressed their foreheads together, she felt his chest linger over hers in a teasing way. He was literally 3 inches away from touching her body with his.
He grinned at her as he bit down on his lip, as she began to shake underneath him...how...how did this happen? She wondered to herself, as she watched Naruto's blue eyes stare down at her lips when Sakura mentally gasped.
"Do you know what I want from you Sakura-chan?" he asked..
Sakura awkwardly shook her head and he let out a laugh, "I want you to..."
He faced down making their noses kiss, and Sakura's mind was completely blank. Her eyes were shut, and her heart was ready to jump out of her chest, Naruto's low breath was heating up her face and neck. The closeness was making her dizzy, but Sakura mentally kicked herself, she didn't want to pass out right now, not when Naruto was about to...
Naruto closed his eyes as they moved a little closer; they tilted their heads just seconds from kissing when suddenly... both Naruto and Sakura paused.
Her eyes shot open, as did Naruto's and they stared at each other in realization.
"Um..." she squeaked, and Naruto's eyes grew bigger.
"ah-" he quickly jumped off of her and Sakura sat up. The two turned their backs to each other, blushing a deep red.
"Ah...so-"
"Sorry" they managed to say to each other.
Damn it, this is awkward... She thought to herself, as she quickly fanned herself.
"Let me get our bentos ready" she said shooting up from the floor and walked over to the basket.
"Mm, okay" he said as he grabbed the back of his head. Naruto slapped a hand over his face, man I almost...Sakura and I were so close to...he touched his lips. The same lips that were close to touching Sakura's...
Damn it Naruto! I'm an idiot, IDIOT! Why did I do that?! I have Hinata and Sakura is...
"Naruto come eat" Sakura called out.
Naruto turned around to see Sakura open a bottle of apple juice for them
Sakura is...he began to think, she's my best friend, and I love her...he paused and shook his head. ...I love her as a best friend, she's Teme's wife! What was I thinking!?
He punched the side of his head over and over till flashes of Sakura left his mind.
"Naruto come eat before the food gets cold!"
"Ahh coming!" he replied and got to his feet.
Oh man, I'm going crazy... He shook his head as he sat down near her.
Sakura looked over at Naruto as she watched him washed his hands with the bottle of water she had placed for him.
Holy smokes he almost...eeeeeeeeeep! She was jumping up and down in her mind. Her heart was still racing, if she wasn't so shock right now, Sakura would've been jumping up and down by now. Gah, I still feel a little awkward, but a little lunch will fix that right up! Sakura's mood just did a full 360 turn as thoughts of their 2nd- almost kiss flashed in her mind making Sakura's inner being jump for joy.
She opens the bento for Naruto and hands it over to him.
"Here you go Naruto, enjoy!" She handed him the bento and Naruto's eyes began to glitter. "Wahhhhh! Haha thanks!"
She took her own bento and they quickly separated their chopsticks, "Itadakimasu!" they cheered and immediately began to scarf down the delicious warm, home cooked food.
Sakura opens up the other dishes she prepared, she puts a little of everything with her rice and roughly mixes it all with her chopsticks and takes a big bite.
"Mmmmm! This came out so good!" she thought out loud when she looked up to see Naruto looking at her. He looked down at his bento then up at hers and pouts.
Sakura laughs as she scoots over to him and offers her bento, "Here try it."
Naruto tilts his head to the side for reassurances and Sakura smiles, "mhm, try it."
Naruto smiles widely and begins digging into her bento.
"Wahhhhhhhh! It's soooooooooo much better than mine!"
Sakura laughs as she tells him it's the same bento, she just adjusted it a little, "you can have mine Naruto, I'll just prepare another one for me"
"Wah, really?!"
She gives him a reassuring nod and takes his bento from him, the two enjoy their food whilst eating and chatting away. After the two were done Sakura started to put the empty canisters back in the basket, when Naruto spoke up again.
"Hey Sakura-chan, you know I did win that match."
Sakura blushed remembering the whole scenario again, "Y-yeah, and...?"
"I believe the prize was loser has to do one thing for the winner right?"
"R-Right so..."
"So...come here!" he yanked her over to his side and cuddled her in his arms.
"Ahhh! Naruto!"
"Shhhhh!" He placed a finger over her mouth and positioned her in front of him and took her hands into his.
"I know what I want from you."
Sakura's eyes widened and she gulped the knot that was stuck in her throat.
"I want you..." he paused and suddenly his face had a very serious tone to it, "I want you to tell me why you're so afraid..."
Sakura's eyes widened, her mouth went dry."Wha-What?"
"Tell me Sakura, what happened to you that made you this way? Why did you leave Konoha...why didn't you tell me? Who did this to you Sakura? Why...?" he lowered his head when he felt his heart clench. His voice was barely a whisper, "why did you leave me without saying goodbye..."
Sakura gasped, as an explosion of tears sat at the edge of her eyes "I..." she choked and gulped again, "I can't tell you Naruto..."
He looked up at her, his blue eyes narrowed, "why..? Don't you trust me?"
Sakura quickly shook her head, "that's not why..."
Naruto scowled as he pulled her in between his legs, and tilted her chin up, he saw her body start to shiver a little.
"Then what's the reason, what are you hiding?"
Sakura stared into his eyes; he had all kinds of feelings swimming on those blue pearls of his, anger, concern, anxiety, fear... and hurt.
"I..." she couldn't say it. "I can't tell you" she whispered
Naruto clenched her shoulders, "why? Look Sakura I won't judge you, I never have, I never will, it's just the two of us here...whatever it is Sakura trust me, I'll fix it so please..."
Sakura blinked quickly to get rid of the falling tears and smiled at him, "I want to tell you, believe me..it's just...it's really hard" she took in a deep, sharp breath, "it's different for someone who's doing all the asking, people say it's easy to just say it, when it's not, trust me, it's hard...it's so freakin hard...but I want to" she looked at him and hesitantly touched the side of his cheek...his warm, firm cheek, "I will...I'll tell you everything...one day." when I'm free from this problem Naruto, I'll tell you everything there is about me...who I am, who I was, who I want to be, I'll tell you my thoughts, my dreams my hopes, my..feelings, I'll tell you how I feel about you Naruto...I'll tell you how you saved me so many times growing up, how I thought about you since the day I left this prison of a town...how I fell in love with you...
Sakura bit down on her lip, she didn't want to say it yet, it wasn't time to tell him anything just yet.
"So when will you tell me?" he asked her as he stared into her watery, green eyes, as if they held the answers to his questions.
"I will...when I feel like it's the right time for you to listen...I will, but before I do I'll warn you now...it's...It's not a pretty story..."
Naruto frowned, his heart saddened when he saw the painful smile Sakura gave him, who hurt you Sakura...who broke you down to what you are right now and why is it so hard for you tell me?
His thumb moved over her cheek as she looked away from him and laughed, "you're hands are really warm Naruto, ahh-stupid me I always end up crying."
"Ah hey- don't hold back Sakura." he smiled at her as he tilted her chin back up to face him "you can cry all you want when you're with me."
Sakura gently pushed his shoulder as she let out a laugh. She moved her knees to her chest and hugged herself tightly while sitting between Naruto's legs. She smiled at him as she tilted her head thoughtfully, when suddenly...something came to mind.
"Hey Naruto..."
"Hm?" he looked at as she moved her chin against her forearm"
"Why are you so nice to me?" she suddenly asked him.
Naruto's eyes widened but then he quickly smiled at her, "do you remember the first day we met Sakura?"
Sakura gasped as she tried to refer back to when she met Naruto the first time, "mmmmmmmmmmm it was in Iruka sensei's class in pre-school right?"
He laughed, "Haha right, do you remember what happened when we were in preschool?" Sakura shook her head and smiled at him, "to be honest Naruto, I don't remember much of my childhood, every time I try to remember some stuff my head starts to hurt, as if my mind's telling me not to remember."
"Oh..." he grew quiet; another slam at his heart...Naruto shook his head and looked up at her, that sad smile back on her face. He pouted his lips when he suddenly took her hand and yanked her to his body, and he laid them back onto the floor.
"kyaaaa!-ahh hey Naruto!" Sakura tried to get up but Naruto yanked her back down, making her lay her head on his arm.
"Stay" he demanded. Sakura's eyes widened but easily mellowed out when she felt his hand touch the side of her face again.
"Okay.." she whispered and Naruto smiled at her, as he bit down on his lip.
"Hmm, I might as well tell you since you don't remember, but where do I begin...? He asked himself, then he snapped his fingers and laughed.
Sakura shot him an eyebrow as she watched him close his eyes for a minute then look at her again, "when we're really little, I was always hated by the other kids."
Sakura said nothing, her eyes just widened at his words as Naruto continued, "no one liked me, and back then Teme and I hated each other, he wouldn't even talk to me, everyone was mean well everyone except for a few people, Hinata, Shikamaru, Kiba, and little pink haired girl named Sakura" he said as he poked her nose. Sakura gasped as she suddenly remembered the first time she seen Naruto...
"Hi! Is this yours?" a voice called out, as little Sakura looked up to see a blonde haired, blue-eyed boy smile down at her with her stethoscope in his hand. Sakura slowly nodded at him as he handed it over to her.
"I saw those kids playing with it, one of em said he stole it from you, so I beat him up and took it back."
Sakura gasped as she quickly hugged her stethoscope.
"Than-Thank you" Naruto gave her a big teethy smile and flashed the peace sign with his fingers.
"Ah...wanna play together?"
Naruto's eyes sparkled as he quickly sat next to her, "really!?"
"Yeah" Sakura laughed as she handed him her doctor bag, "let's play doctor okay?"
"Alright! Hahahahahaha" Naruto opened the bag and took out one of the items from the bag, "Hey what does-"
"Ahh that's-"
"Ahhhhh!" something squirted into the boy's eye and he screamed out in pain as he rubbed down his eye.
Sakura started laughing as she moved his hand away, "hahahhaha are you okay?"
Naruto smiled as his eye began to twitch rapidly making Sakura laugh again "pbbbbt..Pbbbbbbtttttttttt HAHAHAHAHAHAAA!" she fell to the floor and started rolling around as Naruto poked her sides, "hey what's so funny?" She laughed for a long time as she sat up and started to wipe the gunk away from his eye, "hahahhahahhahahaha you're really silly, hahah" she giggled as Naruto's cheeks flushed, "what's your name?" she suddenly asked him.
"Ah- Naruto! My name's Naruto Uzumaki!"
"Nice to meet you! I'm Sakura- Sakura Haruno" She let out a hand for him to shake but Naruto hugged her instead, "you're pretty! I like you!" he suddenly claimed as he held her tightly. Sakura's eyes widened, she blushed as she gently pushed him away and saw Naruto flushed red. "Huh?"
"When I grow up, let's get married Sakura!"
Sakura stared back at him, blushing like mad, Naruto smiled and gave her a thumbs up, "I'll be a great husband! Believe it!"
"Ahh but-"
Sakura shook her head and started laughing again, "okay, but you have to let me be a doctor-wife okay?" Naruto gave her a strong nod, "of course, my wife has to be number one!" Sakura started laughing at the boy's silly words, it was no use to try to convince him otherwise, plus his words made Sakura really happy. 'Wait till I tell Ino I'm getting married!' she thought as Naruto and Sakura began to play. Since then, Naruto and Sakura played together every day until he slowly became best friends with Sasuke in kindergarten, but even then Naruto would stop by to play with her every now and then.
Sakura wiped away her tears as she quickly smiled at Naruto was knowingly smiling back at her.
"Do you remember Sakura?"
Sakura let out a soft laugh, "you were so silly Naruto, hahahhahaha, you wanted to marry me hahahahahaha" that thought actually made Sakura melt if they were only 3 years old, he was very bold to say something like that to her...Sakura couldn't believe she actually forgot something as important as that..Sigh...if only we were 3 years old again..It's funny how I want to be his wife now... God the irony...
Naruto blushed as he rubbed the back of his neck, letting out a very nervous laugh, "ahaha yeah...I even told my dad that night that I was going to give him a grandson soon and my parents choked on their food, I remember my uncle Jiraiya had to give my dad a good slap on the back to get him to breathe again."
Sakura gasped loudly as the two started to laugh, "hahahahahahahahaha you what!? Oh my- what did they say!?"
"My mom just freaked out and started blaming my uncle Jiraiya for my antics, while my dad gave me a thumbs up while they were choking, my big brother just laughed it was the best day of my life" The two started laughing even louder, they sighed as Naruto looked at her again, "ever since that day Sakura, I didn't care about other people...I only cared about you, and when I will see you again. I cared about when we could play together again, it was because of you that Teme and I became best friends."
Sakura's eyes widened... "M-Me? How...I..."
Naruto chuckled as he pulled her closer to him, "ahh I don't remember why, but Teme seemed to hate me even more after we became friends, I wish I remembered why were fighting but I do know it had something to do with you. Teme was mad for some reason, and he pushed me to the floor, soon after he said something that pissed me off. Next thing I knew, we were both trying to kill each other. I remember Iruka sensei running to us and they couldn't control us, Teme and I had our first big fight that day, and while we were at the nurse's office to patch up, we started talking and we became best friends. So yeah, if it wasn't for you my best friend wouldn't have been my best friend right now, so thanks..."
Sakura's eyes widened as she covered her mouth slowly.
"I didn't know..."
"Hm...And there was another reason as to why I was, and still am nice to you Sakura."
"And why's that?"
Naruto moved his arm around her waist and pulled her even closer to him, "that...is something I can't tell you."
Sakura pushed back and looked at him, she pouted her lip, "why?!"
Naruto chuckled as he pulled her in again, his hand rested around her small frame, "I'll tell you when you tell me your secret okay?"
"Ah but that's! ...Grrr...hmph, fine, you promise you'll tell me?"
Naruto chuckle again, "I promise..."
He looked down at her to see she was shivering a little. "Hey, Sakura get up for a second."
Sakura moved up, and rested on her elbows, as she watched Naruto take off his sweater and lay back down. He pulled her into his arms and moved the sweater over her body, "there, mmm you seemed a little cold."
"Ahh" she blushed instantly at the scent of the sweater, it smelled so much like him it was intoxicating..."Th-Thank you."
Sakura looked at Naruto as he moved in closer to her, he wrapped his arm around her again and pulled her even closer, "hey Sakura..." he whispered.
"Yes Naruto?"
"Do you remember what happened the last time we seen each other before you left?"
Sakura moved even closer to him, "yes..." she replied back, remembering the time she called Naruto out to say goodbye, without actually telling him goodbye...
"You said bye Sakura...but you never told me that was going to be the last time I would see you again..."
"Ah, I'm...sorry..."
Naruto tilted her chin up and inched closer, as they two closed their eyes. "Do you remember what happened right after you said goodbye?..." She blushed a deeper red, as her eyes widened...
"We...Almost..."
"Kissed..." Naruto whispered, he was a second away from pressing his lips against hers... when suddenly a ruffling sound came from one of the bushes causing the two to suddenly break free from each other.
Sakura and Naruto both gasped as they shot up and looked over at the bush to see a bunny quickly hop passed them.
They were breathing heavily as Sakura placed a hand over her heart, "oh my God ..." she breathed out, "That gave me a heart attack..."
"Yeah..."
Eh? Why does he sound so close...Sakura turned around to see her back pressed against Naruto's chest as both his arms wrapped around her body tightly. Ehhhhh!? Sakura blushed a deep red and quickly moved away, with Naruto blushing just after.
"S-S...SORRY!" they said to each other before turning away from each other.
"Ahh he-Hey Sakura" Naruto began as he cleared his throat, "let's get s-some ice cream, what do you say? Hm? My treat"
"Mm...Mm! okay, sounds good, it's a little...um"
"Hot" he said finishing her sentence, Sakura let out a nervous laugh as she quickly fanned herself, "y-yeah hot."
Sakura put her hair back up to a bun and looked her for her glasses when she realized something, "he-hey Naruto am I going to have to cover my eyes again?"
Naruto suddenly laughed as he flashed a peace sign at her, "nah, I just did that to tease you Sakura-chan, truth is, I was going to end up showing you the path anyway hehe."
Sakura gaped at his words, her mouth hung open as she narrowed her eyes, "HEY!!" Naruto started laughing as Naruto got up and started running off.
"That's not funny!" she called out as Naruto laughed louder, Sakura put on her glasses as she started to chase after the silly boy.
They laughed as they ran out towards the pond again.
"You're so mean Naruto!"
"Hahahahaha sorry Sakura!" Naruto wrapped his arms from behind her and spun her around making Sakura squeal with delight. They laughed as he set her down on the bench, he knelt down in front of her and took her hand and pressed it against his cheek, "Don't be mad okay?"
Sakura pointedly looked away as she crossed her arms, when she felt Naruto cuddle against her stomach as he wrapped his arms around her tickling Sakura's tummy with his spiky.
Sakura giggled and gave into him, "hahahahaha okay okay, I'm not mad." she cupped his face into her hands, "if you promise to get me a chocolate and vanilla ice cream!"
Naruto smiled as he pressed their noses together once more, "deal"
"Hehe" she giggled, as Naruto slowly got up.
"You sit tight, and I'll be back okay?"
Sakura nodded her head as Naruto ran off to go buy ice cream for them leaving Sakura to ponder in her own thoughts. Today turned out of be one of the best days of her life...
Sakura smiled as she looked around the park, everyone was smiling and laughing together, the atmosphere was something Sakura has never seen before. She continued to look around when something very...interesting catches her eye...
Sakura gasps as her eyes widened at the sight before her eyes...
There he was...Sasuke cuddling with Karin locked between his arms...
Sakura held in her breath as she watched the two begin to walk towards her direction. Sakura then remembers what Shikamaru told her over the phone and then realized... He lied to me...
But why...?
Alright I've had enough of this bullshit... Sasuke angrily turns to Karin who was currently glued to his arm and tells her he's going to drop her off. "You're going home now Karin."
"Oh Sasuke" she giggled, "Why are you so mad, we got the pictures back didn't we?"
"Yeah, you're so fucking lucky I bought that bracelet Karin, do you have any idea what would've happened if-" Sasuke paused midway from his speech when he felt someone's eyes on him. Sasuke searched the perimeter of the park slowly, analyzing the scene when suddenly his eyes lock with someone much unexpected.
Gasp...Sa...Sakura...what is...
Sasuke furrows his brows when he suddenly realizes his surroundings.
He remembered what he promised her, what today was, what he told Shikamaru...and what his situation looks like right now. But how did she...Shit this is bad.
Sasuke began walking her way, but Sakura gets up and she's just about to walk off when suddenly he hears someone call him out...and not just anyone but...
"Teme?" Naruto paused, "wha...what are you doing here?"
Sasuke looks to his right to see Naruto holding two ice cream cones in his hands.
Sasuke feels the vein on his forehead begin to throb, confused, Sasuke manages to find his voice and ask his friend just the same thing, "what am I doing here? Dobe, what are you doing here?" Naruto stares back at Sakura who's looking down at the floor. Sakura's fists tighten as she grabs Naruto by his wrist, "come on Naruto...let's go."
Sasuke suddenly gets angry when he sees how casually Sakura touches Naruto and pulls her hand away from his, "Sakura why are you here with Naruto?"
"Why am I here with Naruto? Really Sasuke?! You lied to me about being busy and yet you're asking me what I'm doing here?"
Sasuke couldn't control the sudden anger he had built inside of him, but before he manages to say anything Karin runs over and grabs Sasuke by the arm when Naruto glances at Karin and then back to Sasuke, then once more to Karin before narrowing his eyes at his best friend. Sasuke knew what Naruto was going to ask, but before Naruto had the chance to even open his mouth Karin opened hers.
Karin gasped as she glared at Naruto, clearly disgusted, "Naruto!? Why are you with Sakura when Hinata has been going crazy looking for you toda-Oh my god" Karin covered her mouth and her glare in tensed, "are you two on a...a date?!"
"What? No Kari-" Naruto tried to explain but Karin seemed far too pissed to listen to him,
"Oh. My. God. I am so telling Hinata!"
"Hi-Hinata?" everyone turned to Sakura who suddenly looked confused.
"Yes Hinata- his girlfriend Hinata, God, don't you know even that much?"
Sakura turned to Naruto who angrily stared back at Karin when Sasuke watched Naruto's head turn to her.
"Na..ru.."
"Ah Sakura."
Sakura covers her mouth as she looks from Naruto to Sasuke... Sasuke watches a stream of tears slowly stream down her cheek before she quickly runs off.
