THIRD GYM WOOOOOOOOOO!
The city was big and it took us about twenty minutes to get to the Cyrst City Gym was huge. It was had a light blue roof and had snowflake designs on the walls of the building. I read the sign next the gym doors. It read "Cryst City Gym. Gym Leader: Rin, Ice Type Pokemon are used here. Can only use three Pokemon from your party to battle. Gym Hours: 7:00 am-7:00 pm." I checked the time on my PokeDex. I was happy because it was 8:24 am. We all walked inside the gym and took some seats in the bleachers. The gym was packed with people. The gym looked like an ice rink. The bleachers made a circle, but stopped at the entrance of battlefield. There was plexiglass in front of the bleacher seats that reached all the way up to the normal ceiling. There was an literal ice rink in the middle with icicles hanging from the ceiling. It was also a little bit cold.
I looked at the ice rink and saw Xavier battling a girl who had dark brown hair tightly in a bun, she had dark brown eyes, slightly pale skin, was wearing a blue spandex leotard, and had on white skates. I'm guessing she was Rin. I saw Xavier battling with a Pokemon that was a bipedal, fox-like pokemon. While the majority of its fur is yellow, it has black legs, white arms, face and neck, and a dark orange tail tip. The fur on its cheeks is longer, and a small mane of white fur covers its shoulders and chest. Long, wavy tufts of dark orange fur grow out of its large ears, and its eyes and small nose match this fur in color. Above its legs, the fur sweeps out to either side. When its mouth is open, two pointed teeth can be seen on its upper jaw. It had a stick in its tail. Rin was batting Xavier with a Pokemon that resembles a shiny, blue hexagonal snowflake. Its facial expression is frozen, which leaves it with a still, aggressive-looking face. Two cracks run through its face, the upper opening contains its eyes and the lower serves as a mouth. It has two glowing eyes and its large mouth contains an extendable chain of ice. It was also floating.
"Whoa never seen those Pokemon before." I said in awe.
"Yeah me neither." Rey added. We both pulled out our PokeDexes and scanned the Xavier's Pokemon first.
"Braixen the Fox Pokemon. It evolves from Fennekin. It is 3'3.4" and 31.97 lbs. It is a Fire Type. When the twig is plucked from its tail, friction sets the twig alight. The flame is used to send signals to its allies." Then I scanned Rin's Pokemon next.
"Cryogonal the Crystallizing Pokemon. It is 3'7.3" and 326.29 lbs. It is an Ice Type. They are composed of ice crystals. They capture prey with chains of ice, freezing the prey at -148 degrees Fahrenheit. We both put our PokeDexes away.
"I can't believe his Fennekin evolved into that." Rey said.
"I wonder when Azure is going to evolve?" I asked.
"I don't know man, but let's watch the battle. Rey said as we turned back our attention to the battle.
"Braxien use Psybeam!" Xavier shouted.
"Brai!" the Braixen nodded. He then pulled out his twig from his tail and then began spiraling his arm around. After three seconds of that he fired a spiraling multicolored beam from the twig at Cryogonal.
"Use Ice Beam!" Rin shouted. Then Cryogonal had a light blue orb form at its mouth and fired multiple beams of the same color at the Psybeam. Both of them collided and caused an explosion. There was grey smoke every where and the iceicles from the ceiling started dropping on the battlefield. Then we saw a red glowing light in the smoke. The all the smoke got wisped away. Everyone saw Braixen on fire charging at Cryogonal while dodging the falling icicles. Rin tried to tell her Pokemon to move, but is was too late and the Pokemon crashed to the ground. The crowd was cheering.
"Cryogonal return." Rin said.
"Braixen come on back."
"That was a good battle Cryogonal." Rin said to the pokeball.
"Can I have the badge now?" Xavier asked impatiently.
"Ugh fine." Rin said as she reached into her bun and handed Xavier the badge. It was to small for me to see what it looked like. Xavier put in his badge case and caught eye contact with me and glared. I glared back. He then walked out of the gym.
"Hey Rey I'm going first alright?" I said.
"Okay." Rey said. I soon got out of the bleachers and rushed on to the battlefield, but slipped when I got in. Everyone in the crowd started laughing. I honestly thought it was just a ice looking floor, but it was actual ice. I got slowly and slide to Rin.
"Hi I'm Armin Grau and I want to challenge you."
"Hey Armin. I'm Rin and I'll battle you after I heal my Pokemon." She said as she slid across the ice rink and went to a door which probably the room where she healed her pokemon. Then a group of ice came on to the rink and swept up the fallen icicles. Rin came back out and the janitors finished up.
"Alright you people ready for a battle!" Rin shouted. Everyone in the crowd cheered.
"This Armin Grau and he wants to challenge me. Do you think he has what it takes to beat me!?" she shouted. There were some cheering and booing in the crowd.
"Well are you ready?" she looked at me.
"Yeah." I said with a determined smile.
"Well then go to your spot." she said. I went to the spot across from her.
"Go! Snorunt!" she threw her pokeball and a pokemon that was a small, black Pokémon with an ovoid body. It has circular, light blue eyes, wide teeth, and spherical hands and feet that lack digits. It is covered with a yellow cloak that gives it a triangular outline. The coat is rimmed with an orange stripe and has three orange diamond markings on the back.
"Snooooooo!" her pokemon said.
"Go! Flytrap!" I shouted.
"Bell!" Flytrap sounded ready, but kind of slid on the ice. Rin and I waited a minute to see who was gonna make the first.
"Snorunt use Ice Shard!" Rin shouted.
"Runt!" Snorunt became outlined in blue and made light-blue orb then a glow of bright white above its head. The glow faded and the orb turned into a shard of ice. The pokemon fired it.
"Flytrap use your vines to grab it and throw it back." Flytrap nodded and had vines come from his back and grabbed the shard and threw back. The Snorunt sidestepped to the right and Rin ducked.
"Wow looks like this will be good battle." Rin said as she stood back up.
"Runt Runt." Snorunt shouted at Rin.
"Right I gotta concentrate. Snorunt use Crunch!" Rin commanded. Snorunt skated across the ice towards Flytrap. As it got closer its teeth glowed white and it opened its mouth.
"Flytrap use Vine Whip!" I shouted. Flytrap slapped Snorunt with his vines and sent Snorunt sliding across the ice.
"Ruuuuunt." It screamed in pain as it slid. It stopped at Rin's feet.
"Ya know what I just realized?" She said.
"What?" I asked.
"Your pokemon has barely moved an inch since we've been battling."
"So?" I sounded surprised.
"Then means your strategy is using long range attacks because your afraid if your pokemon move they might fall on the ice which would give my pokemon the perfect opportunity to take out your pokemon." she said.
"Dammit well I guess you figured out my strategy." I said.
She smiled smugly "Snorunt use Double Team!" Snorunt got up and made eight copies of itself. Snorunts and its clones started skating in every direction as to make it harder to the real one. Flytrap looked worried.
"Flytrap ready yourself." We both got into a battle stance. They kept skating around Flytrap. "Snorunt use Ice Fang!" the Snorunts did as she said and their teeth glowed a light-blue then became encased in ice. They charged at Flytrap. It was chomp after chomp and Flytrap squealed in pain. It was so fast Flytrap and I had no time to react. The Snorunt copies dissappeared after Flytrap fell to the ground.
"Flytrap return and good job!" I said with my head down. He returned to his pokeball. I picked my next pokemon.
"Wow that was easy." Rin taunted.
"Go! Zephyr!" I shouted.
"Nooooooi!" she shouted.
"Smart using a flying type, but you know they are weak to ice types."
"Yeah I know." I said.
"Snorunt use Double Team." she said. Snorunt made copies of itself again. They started skating around again.
"Zephyr use Supersonic on all of them." I commanded. Zephyr flew up higher and had rippling soundwaves come from hers as she flew around and got rid of the copies.
"Looks you can't use Double Team anymore." I said with a smug smile. Rin looked surprised because it looked like her little strategy won't work anymore.
"Snorunt use Ice Shard." Rin commanded. Snorunt created the ice shard an shot at Zephyr.
"Zephyr dodge!" I shouted. Zephyr dipped under the ice shard.
"Snorunt again!" Rin looked angry now.
"Zephyr use Gust!"
"Noi." she nodded as she flapped her wings creating a strong wind gust. The gust shot the ice shard back to Snorunt and smashed it in its face. Then to add insult to injury the gust made Snorunt fly into the glass. The crowd in that section jumped a little bit. Snorunt got up slowly.
"Grrrrrrrrrrr!" Rin growled.
"This is how pokemon battles work." I said smugly.
"Don't get overzealous!" Rin shouted.
"Zephyr finish Snorunt off the Gust!" I yelled. Noibat nodded and began flapping her wings and the wind hit Snorunt and knocked it out.
"Good battle Snorunt!" she said as her pokemon returned to its pokeball. She grabbed another one and threw it.
"Bergmite come on out!" she shouted and then a small, quadruped pokemon resembling a small, round ice chunk. Its upper half is slightly transparent, while its lower half is a solid white. It has yellow eyes, lined in purple, and two horn-like protrusion on its scalp. There is another smaller protrusion on its back end, which resembles a tail. It has four stubby, conical legs.
"Bergmite jump up and use Take Down!" Rin yelled. The Bergmite then jumped in the air charging at Zephyr with great force. Zephyr got knocked down and slid across the ice.
"Zephyr get up and use Leech Life!" I yelled. Zephyr got up slowly as she started glowing red. She then flew at Bergmite.
"Bergmite dodge and use Rapid Spin!" Rin shouted. Bergmite then began to spin itself. Zephyr ran into Bergmite and got knocked back with tremendous force I positioned myself and caught her. I fell onto my back with Zephyr in my arms. I looked up at her and I smiled.
"Noibat!" she smiled back.
"Alright use now pretend like your going to use Bite, but use Gust to get Bermite into the air, and then use Leech Life. Alright Zephyr?" I said as I let her go. She nodded and charged at Bergmite barred her fangs at it.
"Really Armin? Hahahahaha how stupid! Bergmite use Rapid Spin again!" Bergmite began to spin itself again. Zephyr got closer then stopped and started flapping her wings making the wind pick up Bermite into the air stopping its spinning, it got launched into the glass, and ricocheted off it and flew towards Zephyr. She glowed red and dashed at Bergmite before it fell to the ground. She bit Bergmite in the back and Bergmite started to glow green.
"Beeeeeeeeerg!" it screamed in pain as it fell to the ground with Zephyr still on its back.
"Bergmite use Rapid Spin and then Ice Ball as flies into the air!"
"Berg Berg Berg!" it cried out.
"Come on I know you can power through it."
"Berg." it said with a determined look in its eye. It began spinning with Zephyr still on it. Zephyr and Bergmite kept spinning faste and faster. Zephyr lost her grip and flew into the air. Bergmite then opened its mouth and created a ball of ice and launched at Zephyr hitting her.
"Noooooooooii!" she screamed in pain.
"Zephyr!" I screamed.
"What are you gonna cry?" Rin said.
"Hell no, but I will whoop your ass! Zephyr use Gust!" I shouted.
"Bergmite, Icy Wind!" Rin shouted. Zephyr flapped her wings creating a strong gust of wind and Bergmite blew our sparkling blue wind. The opposing forces clashed and exploded.
"Zephyr good job!" I said she returned to her pokeball.
"Bergmite the was an excellent battle." Rin said as her pokemon returned to its pokeball.
We both grabbed our pokeballs and glared at each other as we knew that the last battle would determine the victor. Then we threw our pokeballs.
"Go! Cryogonal!" Rin shouted.
"Go! Azure!" I shouted. Azure came out in usual crouched position with one hand on the ground and the other out to his side.
"Cryogonal use Ice Beam!" Rin ordered.
"Cryo." it nodded. Then Cryogonal had a light blue orb form at its mouth and fired multiple beams of the same color towards Azure. Azure dodged every one of them.
"Azure use Quick Attack!" I shouted.
"Froa!" he nodded and began to glow white and the charged towards Cryogonal and smashing into him. Azure hopped four feet back.
"Now use Water Pulse, Azure!" I shouted. He than began to create a water ball in his right palm and launched it.
"Cryogonal use Aurora Beam!" Rin shouted. Crygonal released a multicolor beam at the Water Pulse. Both of the attack cancelled each other out. Both of the pokemon stared at each other.
"Use Aurora Beam again!" she shouted. Cryogonal fired another multicolored beam at Azure.
"Azure dodge!" I shouted. He dodged, but the beam hit me. I flew back on to my back. The crowd stopped cheering and became dead silent.
"H-H-Hey are you alright Armin?" Rin said. I laid there for a few more seconds and then got up. The crowd started cheering.
"Let's get right back to battling!" I yelled.
"Hmph right!" She said with a smile.
"Use Bubble!" I shouted.
"Froakie!" Azure nodded and opened his mouth and shot out six bubbles at Cryogonal.
"Cryogonal, Ice Beam now!" she commanded. Cryogonal shot multiple beams out its mouth and hit Azure sending sliding across the ice. He finally stopped about five feet from me.
"Azure come on get up!" I cried.
"Cryogonal use Flash Cannon on the ceiling to crush his Froakie!" Rin shouted.
"Cryo!' it nodded and fired a silver beam from its mouth and hit the ice hanging on the ceiling causing to fall on Azure.
"AZUUUUUURE!" I started to cry.
"Well it looks like you lo-" She was caught off guard and I was to. There was a blue light shining through the ice and then it explouded. Then a a dark blue frog-like Pokémon with a light blue underside. His eyes have yellow sclera, and he had a white bubble scarf. He has dark blue hands and toes, and white circular fingers had his head up to the ceiling and had arms that were slightly bent upwards as if he was gaining new power.
"Frooooooogadier!" He shouted as he took a crouched position with one hand on the ground and the other out to his side. The crowd started roaring. I got a notification on my PokeDex. I pulled it out of my pocket.
"Your Froakie has evolved into Frogadier !" I scanned Azure for his PokeDex entry.
"Frogadier the Bubble Frog Pokemon. It evolves from Froakie. It is 1'11.6" and 24.03 lbs. It is a Water Type. Its swiftness is unparalleled. It can scale a tower of more than 2,000 feet in a minute's time. He knows the moves Tackle, Bubble, Quick Attack, and Water Pulse."
"W-W-What impossible! Your pokemon was supposed to be knocked out!" Rin was furious.
"Well sorry to dissapoint you!" I looked up at her with a smug smile as I put away my PokeDex.
"Cryogonal use Aurora Beam!" she shouted.
"Azure dodge and use Quick Attack!" I shouted.
"Froga." Azure smiled, he dodged the beam, and glowed white then charged at Cryogonal. He smashed into Cryogonal causing it to fall to the ground. It looked like it was about to faint.
"Cryogonal use Explosion!" Rin shouted.
"Cr?" Cryogonal looked up at its trainer.
"Yes! I'm sure!"
"Cry!" then the Cryogonal started to glow yellow and storing energy.
"Azure guard yourself with your frubbles!"
"Frogadier!" He then expanded the white bubbles on his neck and surrounded himself with them making look like a piece fluffy stuffing in teddy bears.
"It's no use your going to lose." Rin said.
"We're both gonna draw."
"To me this counts as a win."
"Cryo Go Naaaaaaaaaaaal" then it blinding light he exploded. Their was grey smoke everywhere. I was holding my breath because of the outcome. The smoke finally cleared. Cryogonal was on the ground knocked out. I saw Azure's frubble ball.
"Azure are you alright!?" I shouted. there was no response.
"I told you. You lost." she said returning her battered pokemon.
I ran up to his frubble ball "Azure! Azure! Azure! Azzzzuuuuure!" I yelled at that top of my lungs. Then a blue head peaked out.
"Froga?" he said with smile as he absorbed his frubbles back into a scarf. The crowd starting roaring and I hugged Azure.
"Whaaaat!? No no no! Impossible!" Rin started having a temper tantrum.
"Hey can I have my badge now?" I said as I returned Azure.
"Here have it! The stupid Floe Badge!" she reached into her hair bun and threw the badge at me. I caught it, but it stung a little. The badge was a fluffy cloud with three tiny snow flakes and had a gold border around the badge. I put the badge on the inside of my jacket under the Platonic Badge.
I walked back into the bleachers. Everyone was cheering my name. It felt great.
"Holy shit awesome battle!" Rey yelled.
"Yeah that was entertaining." Sasha said.
"Wow that was fantastic!" Momoko screamed.
"Thanks guys." I said.
"My favorite was when Azure just fucking evolved!" Rey exclaimed.
"Thanks again, but shouldn't you be facing her in a little bit." I said.
"Oh yeah right." He said with a smile as slid onto the ice rink.
He went to Rin and asked to battle her and she went to go heal her pokemon. The crowd was murmuring about my battle. People even asked to sign a few autographs. Rin came out a few seconds later. They faced each other.
"Go! Snorunt!" Rin shouted.
"Let's get it Asura!"
"Snorunt use Double Team!" Rin yelled.
"Ruuuunt!" the pokemon made copies of itself.
"Asura use Odor Sleuth!" Rey shouted. Asura nodded and put his snout into the air and immediatley snapped its down and looked at the real Snorunt.
"Snorunt use Ice Shard!" Rin commanded. Snorunt created the ice shard and launched at Asura.
"Asura use Flame Charge!"
"Tep!" He burst himself into flames and melted the ice in battlefield revealing a blue metallic floor. He then ran at Snorunt. He melted the ice shard that was coming towards him and slammed into it. Sending Snorunt crashing into the ground.
"Snorunt return! You melted my ice rink!" she said furiously.
"Hehehe sorry." Rey said with a nervous smile and his left hand on the back of his neck.
"I'll make you pay for that! Go Bergmite!"
"Bergmiiiite!" it screamed.
"Use Ice Ball!" Rin shouted. Bergmite opened its mouth created a ball of ice and shot it at Asura.
"Asura Flame Charge again!" Rey commanded. Asura burst into flames again began running and melted the ice ball.
"Bergmite dodge!" she yelled.
"Bergmite." it nodded and dodged to the right.
"Now use Icy Wind." Bergmite then shot out sparkling blue wind at Asura sending him flying into the glass of the rink.
"Ice Ball again!" Rin screamed.
"Dodge and use Ember, Asura!" Rey shouted. Asura got and dodged the ice ball just in time. Asura the let loose a wave embers and it hit Bergmite. Bergmite could barely get up.
"Asura Flame Charge again." He shouted. Asura burst into flames and crashed into Bergmite.
"Bergmite return! Go Cryogonal!" she then switched out her pokeballs.
"Cryogonal!"
"Asura use Flame Charge!" Asura ran at Cryogonal while he was on fire.
"Cryogonal use Flash Cannon!" Rin shouted. Cryogonal let loose a silver beam. Asura ran to the right and then crashed into to it.
"Dammit Cryogonal use Aurora Beam!" she yelled. Cryogonal launched a multicolored beam from its mouth hitting Asura.
"Now use Flash Cannon!"
"Asura get up!" Rey cried. Asura got up slowly, but it too slow.
"Looks like I beat the pesky fire type."
"Shut up you petty bitch! Go Rook!" Rey threw his pokeball and Rook popped out.
"Grrrrrrr! Cryogonal use Ice Beam." she shouted obviously angered by Rey's insult. Cryogonal launched multiple light-blue beams at Rook, but he dodged all of them.
"Alright Rook use your new move!" Rey shouted.
"Quill!?" Rook was confused.
"Pin Missile. Rook. Pin Missile." Rey face palmed himself.
"Qu Quill." Rook chuckled nervously. His spines that jutted out like ears started to glow white, he then started to let out a barrage of white orbs trailed by green light.
"Use Ice Beam!" she shouted. The pin missiles and the ice beams hit each other causing a mini explosions. There was a little bit of smoke.
"Rook use Rollout! Rey shouted. Rook then curled up into a ball and dashed at Cryogonal hitting it. Rook uncurled an hopped back to its original place.
"Cryogonal use Aurora Beam!"
"Dodge and use Pin Missilie!" Rey shouted. Rook dodged the multicolored beam and shot out white orbs trailed by green light.
"Cryogonal raise your body temperature!"
"Cry!" it nodded. It stayed in place and it started to steam. After that steam he disappeared. Rook and Rey were surprised.
"What the hell just happened!?" Rey shouted.
"Cryogonal can raise their body temperature and they do they can become invisible, but only for a short amount of time."
"Dammit. Rook keep your guard up okay?" Rey ordered.
"Quill!" Rook had more alertness now.
"Cryogonal use Ice Beam!" Rin shouted. The Cryogonal appeared above Rook looking down at him and then blasting multiple light-blue beamed down at Rook. Rook countered with Pin Missile. Then Cryogonal became invisible again. Rook started to look around again confused.
"Rook use Rollout and ricochet of the the glass and walls!" Rey yelled. Rook curled up into a ball and dashed towards the wall and began ricocheting of the walls and glass. Rey and Rin layed down flat on the floor. Rook hit something in the middle of the air.
"Cryyyyyyyyyy!" Cryogonal cried in pain as Rook smashed into him.
"Use Pin Missile!" Rey got up and screamed. Rook uncurled while in the air and let loose a barrage of white orbs trailed by green light. Crygonal fell into ground and was laying while being hit by the pin missiles. Rook landed on his feet.
"Cryogonal good battle." Rin said returning her pokemon.
"Come on back Rook." Rey said returning his pokemon.
Rin reached into her bun and handed Rey the Floe Badge. He took out his badge case and put his new badge in there. He put the badge case back into his backpack. We congratulated Rey and walked to Sasha's contest. I checked the time on my PokeDex it was 9:58 am. The Contest Hall looked the same as it did in Aaron Town. The same judges were there too. The three contestants and their partners Sasha had to face were Morty and his Weepy which was a Weepinbell, Candace and her Cutie which was a Cinccino, and Samatha and her Sir Splashy which was a Squirtle. Sasha got her second ribbon that day, Tinkerbell evolved into Sylveon, and Tinkerbell learned Draining Kiss. Sasha was bragging about it all the way to the Cryst Suites. We checked in and hung out in the lobby before we went to our rooms. Momoko checked my map. I realized she uses the map more than me, so I gave it to her to keep. She said we have to go through Route 8 and then will be in Digons City. I asked them if we could have a break tomorrow and explore Cryst City. They agreed with me. We all then hung out in the hotel the rest of the day playing video games and eating. We went to bed at around 11:00 pm. I laid in my bed just in awe about my gym battle. I then fell asleep.
