I watch Mom pull her keys out of her pocket. I know Klaus is right behind me and his presence made me anxious. I try ro ignore the anxiety, but it's creeping up my back like a group of spiders.

Mom's hands shake as she tries to unlock the door. I grab the keys from her hand and do it for her. She frowns as I send a look towards Klaus. She goes to step inside, but a magical barrier stops her. "Are you freaking kidding me?" she mumbles.

I cautiously walk through the doorway. I laugh and look around. "This is brilliant! Whatever witch created this was smart." I look back to the doorway to see Klaus and Mom glaring at me. I roll my eyes.

"Come in, you losers." Mom smiles and walks in. "At least I'm stronger than you," she says tauntingly. I let my fangs drop and send her cowering behind Klaus. He glances over his shoulder before sending me a look of admiration. My fangs go back into my gums before I go upstairs.

I open my bedroom door while they come inside. "Does she act like that all of the time?" Klaus asks my mother. "No, she's been acting different as of recently."

I scan the room, looking around for any differences from the last three months. Nothing different at all. Good. I glance at the mirror, doing a double take when I see Elijah sitting on my bed.

His head tilts in confusion as I silently shut my door. I hold my finger to my lips. I pick a notebook off of my floor and write a message in it. I show it to him.

"No, I don't believe it was me that caused your... migraine," he answers. I give him a scolding look and hold my finger to my lips again. He rolls his eyes. "I'm daggered, Hazeline. Only you can hear me."

I look up to the ceiling as I roll my eyes. "I'm going insane."

I flinch when Mom bursts into my room. "We're heading out, you ready?" I glance at Elijah, who is still sitting on my bed and is giving my mom a scrutinizing look.

I frown before looking back at her. "Yes, let's get out of here." I follow her downstairs, where Klaus is doing something on his phone and waiting for us. "Are we done here?"

Klaus looks up, puts his phone away, and nods. We let Mom leave first before he stops me from leaving. "Have you seen him recently?"

I nod hesitantly. "When?" I turn to him. "A few seconds ago, I was talking to him. Why does it matter?"

"Because of your freak out the other day. I need you alive and responsive, not writhing on the ground," he answers. I give him a cold look before pulling my arm away from his grasp and following my mother out.

I frown as I enter the high school behind Klaus and Mom. "God, I hate this place," I mutter bitterly. Klaus sends me a look over his shoulder. I return the look.

"Just because you have the right to be bitter doesn't mean you should be," Mom advises. I roll my eyes.

"I need you two by the gym. Kindly keep your mouths shut and keep watch," Klaus commands before disappearing. I sigh.

"What an asshole," Mom mutters. I stare at her with wide eyes. She glances at me. "What?"

I shake my head. We make our way to the gym. "Do you remember when being a gymnast was your biggest dream?" Mom asks as we sit by the entrance to the gym.

"I do. I never thought I wouldn't have the chance to do that," I reply, leaning my head against the wall. "You still have a chance," Mom argues.

I shake my head. "No, I don't. Once Niklaus gets the chance, he'll turn me and I won't have to practice. I want to have to practice to feel success," I explain. She nods.

"When I learn how to feed, I want to feel that," she replies. I frown.

"He hasn't taught you?" I question. She shakes her head.

"I'm barely managing right now. It hurts to say this, but I really want to bite into your neck right now. I've never had blood from the vein before. It smells much better than blood bags," she tells me. I roll my Henley sleeve up and show her my wrist.

"I'll tell you when to stop," I mumble. She shakes her head. I send her a look.

"Alright, ladies. Time to do your work." We stand up and turn to Klaus, who is pulling... Elena?... down the hallway. We follow him into the gym.

"Seniors, you have been caught. Senior prank night is being shut down. Go home," Klaus exclaims, faking an American accent. I roll my eyes as all the teenagers leave.

After a moment, Matt and Bonnie walk into the gym. "Bonnie, no!" Elena shouts. Klaus is instantly behind Bonnie. The brunette witch turns around.

"I assume you're the reason that the precious doppelganger is still alive," Klaus states.

"Yeah, I'm the reason. So if you're going to blame anyone, blame me," Bonnie bravely responds.

"No need for blame. It's just your witchy interference has prevented me from making hybrids. And since you screwed it up, you're going to fix it," Klaus replies. Rebekah bursts into the gym with Tyler unwillingly following her.

"Get your hands off of me!" Tyler yells.

"Hush, child," Rebekah commands.

"I'd like you to meet my sister, Rebekah. She can be a little mean," Klaus smirks. Rebekah and I roll our eyes.

"Don't be an ass," she mutters.

"See, I don't think you really understand what's at stake. When I try to make a hybrid, they never really survive the transition. It's quite horrible actually," he states. He glances at Tyler, then back at me.

Suddenly, he's shoving his wrist in my mouth and I'm drinking this terrible, metallic liquid. Once I realize what it is, I push him away. Mom goes to attack him. He immediately breaks her neck and I hear some gasps before I feel my own neck break.

I sit up and struggle to breath. Immediately someone's hand is wrapped around mine and I hear several heartbeats going on around me. "Hazel, it's me."

I blink and look around. Tyler's... sleeping?... on the floor. Rebekah's smirking at me and Caroline's watching me carefully. Mom is holding my hand and gauging my reaction.

I take a deep breath. "What... I don't understand," I mumble. "You're in transition," Caroline tells me.

I realize I'm sitting on a table and lay back. I close my eyes and cover them with my arm. I hear a masculine gasp and note that Tyler's in the same boat as me.

Caroline and Rebekah explain what's going on to him. I take notice of how fast Mom's faint heartbeat is and squeeze her hand.

Randomly Klaus bursts into the room, which I've placed as the science room. I uncover my eyes as he walks towards me. I flinch away from him when he tries to grab my other hand. He frowns and wordlessly offers me a tube of blood.

I grab it from him and sniff it. It's Elena's blood. I silently debate whether I should drink it or not. I'm going to die either way, so I drink the blood in one gulp.

I let go of Mom's hand as this burning sensation shoots through my body. I grunt as my fangs unwillingly elongate. Klaus grins at me. "That's a good sign."
