Mako smiled as she stepped out of her room in the Shiba Mansion. She had just returned to Japan just yesterday night. She had slept in late into the morning, but the others didn't mind and let her sleep in.
"Good morning Kotoha!" Smiled Mako, stepping into the dining room and seeing Kotoha drinking some tea.
"Good morning, Mako-san." Smiled Kotoha, placing her cup down.
"Where is everyone?" Asked Mako?
"Chiaki went out with Gen-chan, Ryunosuke and Tono-sama to get some stuff. Hime-sama is in her room." Replied Kotoha.
Mako smiled as the Kuroko served her brunch. The Kuroko cleared away Kotoha's breakfast dishes and refilled her tea.
"I brought clothes for the rest of the team, at the request of my parents." Said Mako.
Kotoha smiled slightly, "Chiaki and Genta planned a party for Tono-sama's birthday at Kyoto Hall. They are planning to send out the invitations by tomorrow and we're hoping that we could help decorate and write the invitations."
"Who are we inviting exactly?" Asked Mako?
"They were planning to invite the Go-Ongers, and their engines. I'm not sure about any others." Replied Kotoha.
"We're back!" Shouted Chiaki, entering the dining room.
The four male Shinkengers entered the room with Ryunosuke holding a cake box and the others holding several bags.
"Tono ordered this cake for tonight's barbecue." Said Ryunosuke.
Kaoru had planned a barbecue party where Chiaki and Genta offered to cook on the grill. The Kuroko went shopping to get the ingredients for tonight's barbecue earlier this morning. Ryunosuke handed the cake box to the Kuroko to keep in the fridge.
"Shall get started on decorating the garden for the party?" Asked Genta, holding up the bags.
"We'll get started first, and let Mako finish her breakfast first." Said Ryunosuke.
"I'll get the hime, so we can get her opinion on what decorations to use." Said Chiaki.
The others nodded and the left the room, except Mako who continued eating her breakfast. Chiaki headed to Kaoru's room and called her out to help with the decorations. Kaoru and Chiaki walked to the garden, where Kotoha and Genta were hanging up lanterns, Ryunosuke and Takeru were unpacking the steamers. Chiaki picked up a lantern and helped Kotoha and Genta in hanging up the lanterns. Kaoru helped Ryunosuke and Takeru with the steamers. Mako appeared with tablecloths while the Kuroko brought out tables and chairs. Mako set up the tablecloths so that the others could place their things on the table.
"Anyone up for some lunch? We can have an early barbecue dinner." Said Jii, coming into the garden.
"I'm not hungry though." Laughed Mako.
"I could use some light food, I'm sure that we'll be eating quite a lot during dinner." Said Genta.
"I'll get the Kuroko to prepare some sushi rolls." Said Jii, before leaving for the kitchen.
Chiaki, Ryunosuke and Takeru hung up the steamers while Genta and Kotoha finished hanging up the lanterns. Kaoru and Mako set out the tablecloths.
After lunch, Kotoha, Mako and Kaoru retreated to Kaoru's room for some girl talk.
"Kotoha anything happened in school lately?" Asked Mako?
"I went camping with my school friends and watched a meteor shower." Said Kotoha, vividly remembering the meteor shower.
"I saw one too back in Hawaii last week, it was pretty." Smiled Mako.
"Maybe next time we can all go and watch one together." Said Kotoha.
"How are things back here? I haven't been able to stop by the past few months." Said Mako.
"Genta-kun stops by pretty much every day to greet us before setting up his shop. Chiaki stops by once a week, but they've been coming over a lot lately to discuss about Takeru's birthday party." Replied Kaoru.
"Ryuu-san came back just last week. And we went to the amusement park yesterday. We made plans to all go together, but Mako-san couldn't make it." Said Kotoha.
"We can always go to the amusement park another time, but what matters is that we're together as a team tonight." Said Kaoru.
"Speaking of team, how are you and Takeru going on lately?" Asked Mako, turning to face Kotoha.
Kotoha blushed slightly, "There's nothing between Tono-sama and I!"
Mako grinned, "Well, I do know that he has a soft spot for you."
Kotoha blushed, "Well, Chiaki mentions hime-san quite a bit, whenever we talk."
Mako looked interested as her eyes darted to Kaoru.
"What did he say?" Asked Mako?
"He said something like he's she a member of our team, he felt sorry for not accepting her earlier. He hopes that they'll get along in the future. Sometimes he would mention some stuff that hime-san did which he was told by Tono-sama." Said Kotoha.
"It seems like Chiaki is interested in you." Mused Mako.
"Speaking of Chiaki, hime-san got him a bear themed beanie. A different sort of gift than the others." Said Kotoha, innocently.
Mako had a mischievous grin on her face, "Why didn't you tell me earlier Kotoha?"
"No one really mentioned it, but I think Tono-sama knows something." Replied Kotoha.
"That I'm not too sure of, Takeru can be kind of dense when it comes to this kind of stuff." Said Mako.
Kaoru felt embarrassed, and Mako patted her shoulder reassuringly.
"It's normal for girls your age to feel this way." Said Mako.
Kaoru nodded unsurely, and Kotoha gave her a reassuring smile.
"But Mako-chan, what about you and Ryu-san?" Asked Kotoha, innocently.
Mako knew what Kotoha was getting at so she simply shrugged, "He's a good friend, but the both of us are usually so busy that we hardly meet at all."
Kotoha nodded, "That's true but you guys looked cute together!"
"We're both really busy at the moment, so maybe next time." Said Mako.
Kaoru gave a small smile as she listened to Mako and Kotoha's conversation, it was nice having someone to talk to, especially a girl to talk to. The three girls continued to chat for the next hour before joining the rest of the team for lunch.
