Disclaimer: I don't own Super Sentai.
It was finally the day the Shinkengers were going to celebrate Takeru's birthday, Chiaki had woken up bright and early to collect the cake. Jii had already given him the money for the cake the previous day. Chiaki slipped on his green jacket, slung his backpack over his shoulder and locked up his apartment. Chiaki walked to the cake shop, it was still 8.17am in the morning and the cake shop was pretty empty. Saki wasn't on duty yet because it was still so early, but Chiaki handed the order slip over to the cashier. A young man placed a cake box on the counter while Chiaki handed over the money for the cake. Chiaki checked the cake knife as well as the candles before leaving the shop.
Chiaki headed to the train station and hopped onto a train bound, the Nozomi, for Kyoto, Chiaki checked his watch every ten minutes, it was a two hour and twenty minutes train ride from Tokyo to Kyoto. Chiaki fished out his Shodophone to call Mako, who had stayed overnight at Kotoha's house the previous night to help prepare for the party. Mako and Kotoha, as well as Kotoha's sister were already preparing for the party at the olden Kyoto Tea House that they rented for Takeru's birthday party. Chiaki watched the scenery pass by him until he heard an announcement that they were reaching Kyoto. Chiaki got up from his seat and alighted from the train, Mako was waiting for him at the station. Chiaki waved at Mako who was wearing a purple jacket and holding several shopping bags.
"How's the cake?" Asked Mako.
"Just fine, but we have to keep it in the fridge until the party." Said Chiaki.
"Just let me buy a few bentos for our lunch." Said Mako.
Mako and Chiaki headed to a nearby shop selling bentos and they bought a few to last them until the party. Mako led Chiaki to Kyoto Hall, where Kotoha and Mitsuba were decorating the place. Chiaki placed the cake box into the large fridge. Chiaki then inspected the place, the three girls had decorated and cleaned the place nicely. Chiaki returned to the kitchen where Mitsuba, Mako and Kotoha were preparing for dinner.
"Nee-san, what about our costumes?" Asked Chiaki.
"I asked the Go-Ongers to bring them over later, Kaoru-chan already had the costumes delivered to the Souto siblings' place yesterday." Replied Mako.
"What time are Takeru and the others coming?" Asked Chiaki.
"Probably about 6, I guess." Said Mako.
"Chiaki, since you're here, help us cook dinner. Just peel these mangoes." Said Mako, handing Chiaki a peeler, a bowl and a basket of mangoes.
Chiaki took the bowl and peeler and placed them on the kitchen table while Mako left the basket of Mangoes on the table. Chiaki carefully peeled the mangoes before Mitsuba cut them up.
A few hours later…
The Go-Ongers had arrived along with the costumes for the Shinkengers which were their usual kimonos with their respective hakamas. Chiaki, Kotoha and Mako changed into their kimonos while Mitsuba changed into a simple white kimono. The Go-Ongers wore black kimonos with their sashes in their respective colours.
"They're coming! I can see Ryunosuke-kun walking in front!" Said Saki.
Everyone headed to a hiding place while Mako settled herself beside the light switch. Mako heard the door open as well as Takeru and Genta's voices. Mako felt someone creep next to her, but she knew that it was Ryunosuke. Ryunosuke placed a hand on Mako's shoulder as they waited for Genta's signal.
"Where are you guys taking me?" Asked Takeru.
"We are here!" Said Genta.
Genta grinned and removed Takeru's blindfold, which was the signal and Mako turned on the lights while Ryunosuke pulled the curtains to reveal a large banner with the words "Happy Birthday, Shiba Takeru!"
"Happy Birthday, Takeru/Tono-sama/Take-chan!" Went the chorus of voices.
"You guys did this for me?" Spoke Takeru.
"Everyone took part in planning this, you were the only whose birthday we didn't get to celebrate as a team." Said Mako.
"But first, you should get changed." Said Kaoru.
Kotoha and Chiaki presented Takeru, Kaoru, Ryunosuke and Genta their kimonos while Mitsuba handed Jii and Tanba their usual kimonos. The six changed into their kimonos and the party soon began with dinner. Kotoha, Mako, Mitsuba, Saki and Miu helped serve dinner while Chiaki and Kaoru prepared the cake in the kitchen Kaoru and Chiaki carefully arranged the candles which read Happy Birthday.
"Chiaki-kun, thank you for planning this party for Takeru." Said Kaoru.
"It's nothing, he's my friend too." Said Chiaki, with a smile.
"I think the whole team has gotten closer because of this party." Said Kaoru.
"I think you're right, but it was hime who pulled us together." Said Chiaki, with a grin.
Kaoru blushed slightly, she couldn't take all of the credit. "Everyone played their part, especially you and Genta-kun."
Chiaki smiled before ruffling Kaoru's hair before Ryunosuke came in to collect the cake as well as to light the candles.
Yay! This arc is complete, the next arc will most likely be about Takeru and Kaoru going to college with Chiaki helping them. I apologise that you had to wait so long for this arc. Please review!
