"Okay, guys here's a good one. I wrote a song about a tortilla. Well actually, it's more of a wrap." I groaned and tried to block out Leo's terrible jokes, it's hard to believe that barley a year ago I was missing them. "No? Okay. Back to the old standby: Camping? That's in tents." Leo burst out laughing at his own joke and I looked over to see Hazel dejectedly watching Jason and Percy arguing and trying to ignore Leo altogether, next to her Frank sat glaring at Leo while simultaneously attempting to get either Annabeths attention, who had her head in a book, Reyna or Nicos attention, who were politely discussing strategies and bragging about who was going to win tonight's Greek verse Roman war game, or Jason and Percy's attention. It was safe to say he was failing miserably at all attempts.
"Okay knock knock?" Leo asked smiling around at us and both me and Frank snapped.
"Leo!" I yelled at him in frustration while Frank yelled: "Valdez!" Leo grinned.
"You called?" He asked, I opened my mouth to retort but Frank beat me to it.
"Stop with the puns!" He almost screamed.
"But why? Puns are my life and soul how can you take that away from me?" He cried dramatically clutching his heart.
"Get a new life and soul then." Hazel snapped. "Or go tell them to somebody else."
"Where do I get a new life and soul from?" Leo snorted. "EBay?"
"Probably." Frank said giving up trying to get help. "You can buy pretty much anything on there or Amazon."
"Let's not talk about them." Hazel interrupted.
"Or you could build one. You probably could, you're annoying like that." Frank continued.
"Aw thanks Zhang."
"Shut up."
"But why?" I put my head in my hands again and heard Hazel yell in frustration and kick the stand we were sitting on. "Hazel. Hazel!? I was only joking! Hazel?!" Leo yelled and I looked up to see Hazel storming away and Frank and Leo looking at each other before jumping up and following her.
"What just happened?" I looked over to see Annabeth putting her book down and staring after Leo and Franks shrinking figures.
"Leo was being annoying and Hazel lost it."
"Oh." She glanced at me. "How long had he been doing it?"
"Long enough." I replied and looked over at Jason and Percy who now had their swords out. "Wonderful." I murmured and Annabeth turned and rolled her eyes before going back to her book. I scanned the area to make sure that the boys wouldn't kill each other or anybody else to see that Reyna and Nico had vanished and it was only me, Annabeth, Jason and Percy left, the doors to the area where we were sitting were closed, probably to kept people out so that the boys could kill each other in peace. I turned around to see that nobody was behind me and looked up just to double check as a strong wind blew though the stands and not touch the leaves in the trees but make a mess of my hair.
"Jason." I yelled at him turning round. "Cut the wind down." HE glanced at me confused.
"I'm not doing anything." He yelled back lowering his sword slightly, just enough for Percy to jab at him and for Jason to spin back around in an attempt to block him. I stood up slowly as the boys started actually fighting and looked around to see that the wind was only tearing though the small area that me and Annabeth were sitting at, not touching the boys ten feet away and vanishing behind us. By this time Annabeth had noticed something was wrong and looking around with me, frowning.
"What's going on?" she murmured and I shook my head. She glanced over to me and I saw she was just as lost as I was. I pulled out my sword and turned back to the boys in time to see Jason pull down a bolt of lightning and blast Percy backwards straight into me and Annabeth causing all three of us to land in a pile behind the bench we had previously been sitting on.
"Sorry!" Jason yelled as Percy pulled himself off of us and glared over at him. "Really, I didn't mean to make it that strong, where did the wind come from?" He appeared over the seat grinned at me.
"That's what I was yelling about. It just picked up but only here." I told him and the grin vanished.
"Okay, let's get out of here." He said slowly.
"Good idea." Annabeth said standing up and promptly falling backwards grabbing Percy who fell forward and they both vanished. We froze staring at the space they had just been before glancing at each other.
"Where'd they go?" Jason asked and I leaned over to the right slightly and got blinded by a square patch of light in the air where Percy and Annabeth had just vanished so I quickly leaned back and regained the use of my eyesight.
"I think it's a portal, like the one we took back." Jason nodded, needing not to ask from where.
"Well we can't leave them there alone." He said sensibly and looked at me sideways.
"I doubt they're alone but they could use some friends." I replied putting my sword back in its sheaf and holding out my hand.
"Definitely." Jason agreed taking my hand. "And we can't leave them waiting."
"No." I said and we both jumped forward, Jason missed but I fell sideways into the portal and dragged him down with me so we were falling into blinding white space which vanished a quickly as it had come.

The girl from One was still standing above the collapsed mineshaft staring down at the burning inferno that had moments before been a wooden shaft and two very much alive people, even as the trumpets to announce her victory sounded she stood frozen her hair blowing about in the wind from the hovercraft above the tree line. She had been allies with Orion and Aquila and respected them anybody could see it on her face every time she looked at them. The hovercraft finally managed to get her attention and she grabbed the ladder before getting pulled up and the TV flickered to the interviewer/commentator who nobody actually knew what job he actually had even after three Hunger Games who smiled at the camera while the people in the Capitol screamed.
"Well that was certainly unexpected wasn't it ladies and gentlemen?" He yelled over the screaming. "Orion and Aquila were favourites from the beginning but it looks like even the best can fall prey to the underdog. Let's hear it for Jaymes Rabbledod Victor of the Third Annual Hunger Games!" The crowd screamed even louder and the screen shot to District One where Jaymes family stood on the tribute stage outside of the city hall looking shocked while the crowd below them screamed in happiness, Jaymes seven year old sister was looking around as if she was wondering what was going on while her mother cried tears of joy and her father slowly started to grin and pump his fist into the air. The screen shot back to the interviewer who was now covered in confetti.
"Wow was that a good ending or what? Let's take a look at those last few moments again." Amber stiffed next to me before stalking away and running into the woods that surrounded camp, everybody let her pass without comment as we all stood in deathly silence as the TV went back to reply the highlight from over the last ten minutes starting with Orion dragging Aquila through the forest over to the glittering lake which was shining through the trees taunting them. Aquila was holding her bleeding arm up to her chest and running as best as she could on her twisted ankle while Orion was bleeding on his shoulder and had a massive cut across his forehead, behind them roared an inferno which had already swallowed three quarters of the arena leaving only the lake, beach and a small portion of the forest.
They were ten metres from the tree line when Jaymes ran across them cutting them off from reaching the beach, she was bleeding more heavily than both of them after having fought off the tribute from Two to meet up with Orion and Aquila and her hair was a matted clump of crimson blood. She held a sword which tip was melted slightly after falling into the inferno but she still held more weapons than both Orion and Aquila who had lost theirs but they had been fighting in a war and Orion had been trained by the best to be the best and didn't need a sword the exchange only lasted a moment before Jaymes was lying on her back with Orion holding her sword at the throat. She had frozen and Orion glanced at Aquila before looking straight at Jaymes and giving her his most intimidating look.
"We're going and if you know what's best for you you'll not follow us." He warned.
"Going to kill each other." Jaymes sneered though she looked terrified.
"No. I don't play by the rules and I don't listen to anybody." He said his eyes drifting upward to stare down the camera. He slowly removed the sword from her throat and took a step back where Aquila grabbed his arm and they stumbled a few steps closer to the beach when Jaymes flung herself at Aquila who span around and blocked her movement causing both girls to fall to the ground while Orion kicked at Jaymes who rolled out the way and managed to grab the sword cutting open her palm in the process and causing Orion to tumble to the ground on top of Aquila who rolled away to come up in a crouch and glare at Jaymes who gave another terrified smirk and leaned over to jab at Orion who was untangling himself from the roots he'd landed in when the ground shook and a chasm opened up the way Orion and Aquila had come from.
Both girls fell to the ground again and Orion managed to roll free just in time to block the poor swing of the sword with his arm and wrench it away from Jaymes again and chucked it into the fire leaving himself open to Jaymes punch to the face as Orion fell Aquila jumped at Jaymes and they both rolled away to stand up in a defensive position which got matched by Orion when he stood up, blood streaming down his face and chest, they all stood still for a minute in silence when both Orion and Aquila simultaneously stepped closer to each other and the ground collapsed as the wooden boards holding up the usually stable mineshaft broke and both Orion and Aquila fell twenty feet down to the bottom of the pit somehow managing to grab hold of each other as they fell so that Aquila landed on top of Orion.
Jaymes ran over to the edge and peered down as a burning branch fell from a tree above her narrowly missing her head and grazing her arm, she jumped back from the edge and started to pat her arm down in an attempt to put the fire out while Orion and Aquila rolled out of the way of the branch and then started trying to put out the fire it had caused down in the shaft. By the time Jaymes had put out the fire on her arm there was billowing black smoke coming out of the shaft and even the camera's perched everywhere and with night vision and infrared could only just pick out two shapes their arms around each other before they fell to the ground and were lost. It took another few seconds before the trumpets began. They then flicked back to the interviews to go over Jaymes highlights and I turned and ran to find Amber.
It didn't take me long.
She was sitting on a log her head in her hands crying. I walked over and sat next to her watching the forest life go on as normal like nothing had ever happened. After about five minutes Amber leaned over and put her head on my shoulder removing her hands from her red blotchy face to cry all over my nice shirt.
"Why?" she asked. "Why?"
"I don't know." I replied. "I guess we just have to wait it out."
"We won't even live that long."
"Still something to aim for, you know hope for the future. Help out." She looked up at me sceptically. "Yeah I know, that sounded cheesy but it's true." She rolled her eyes and looked back out to the trees. I glanced upwards and was surprised to see that it was a clear day in every direction, even clearer towards the south down to the sea and the earth was still, Percy Jackson obviously hadn't lost his temper yet, though I wouldn't be surprised if President Snow lost the trust of a few of his closest supporters tonight.
"How are we going to live?" I snorted.
"We're demigods dying is an occupational hazard."
"That's in battle to defeat monsters and help everybody else out to save the world not in a stupid game designed to give people entertainment in the Capitol! Aquila was one of theirs and they killed her!" She practically screamed standing up on the log and folding her arms over her chest.
"Rome." I reminded her standing up and joining her. "They died together though, they'll be happy with that though maybe not the fire part." It was Amber's turn to snort.
"But why?" She asked again.
"Life sucks." I said as a strong wind blew through the clearing and a bright light started appearing on the ground next to us. I looked down to see a clear circle of said bright light which seemed to tug on my soul and urge me to drop down into it, I grabbed Ambers hand causing her to gasp and I span around on the log to see what was going on slipping as I did so meaning that I fell off the log and pulled Amber down with me, as we fell into the light which closed in around us until we were falling a lot further than the foot to the ground we had to fall from the log.
I said there might be some late updates but at least it isn't a week late and you will still, hopefully, get the next chapter as planned next Wednesday, so you have even less time to wait. Next chapters another short one but then we have the chaos of Panem and the stage will be set for some more Chaos. *Evil laugh* meh meh meh
