The Dark Rescue

Naruto stood inside a hanger of the Coruscant Spaceport and took a deep breath.

"Why are you so nervous?" asked Satele.

"Well, I'm just a little worried about what you're going to do when you see who's on the ship." said Naruto.

"Why would you worry about that?" questioned Satele.

R2 beeped and Satele raised an eyebrow.

"What do the Sith have to do with this?" asked Satele as the ship they were waiting for landed.

The ramp lowered and Satele froze at the sight of two of the people stepping off.

"Buir!" exclaimed Naruto as he ran into Shae's arms.

"Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum." she whispered to him.

"Ni kar'tayl gar darasuum." he whispered back.

"Nothing like a mother and son reuinting after three days apart." said Darth Lazarus as Kin and the Exile stood behind her.

"Mother?" asked Satele in anger as she reached for her lightsaber.

"Oh, don't even bother." said Darth Lazarus when she noticed what was going on.

"Master Shan." said the Exile as she went up to Satele and bowed to her, "It's an honor to meet Master Revan's heir."

"And you are?" asked Satele as she eyed the Exile closely.

"This is Meetra." said Naruto as he stood next to the Exile and looked at Satele, "She was your ancestor's padawan."

"So, you're the Exile." stated Satele as examined the Exile, who looked away in shame.

Before anyone could speak, Satele's communicator went off and she held it up to her ear.

"Yes?" she asked.

After a moment, Satele nodded.

"Tell him I'll be there in a moment." said Satele as she put the communicator away, "I have to go see the Vice Chancellor."

Naruto shook his head and took a few short breaths.

"Are you okay?" asked Kin.

"Yeah." said Naruto as he looked at Satele, "Something tells me that we all need to come with you."

Satele looked at Naruto's determined look and sighed.

"Very well." said Satele before she got up in Darth Lazarus's face, "Don't try anything."

"I wouldn't dream of it." said Darth Lazarus sarcastically while Satele looked at Shae.

"The same goes for you." she warned as they all headed out of the Senate Building.

Kin looked on in awe as they approached and swallowed the lump in her throat.

"You been here before?" asked Kin of Naruto.

"Twice." said Naruto casually, "Once when I was five and Satele showed me around."

"And the other?" asked Kin.

"I snuck in and lit a bunch of the robes the Chancellor's guards wear on fire." said Naruto as he picked his ear.

"That was you?" asked Satele as she looked back at Naruto, "We spent months trying to find out who did that. How did you manage to avoid the cameras?"

Naruto just shrugged and they entered the building. Satele led them to the Galactic Senate Chamber Holding Office and found a man Naruto recognized as Vice Chancellor Janarus talking to a hologram of what he knew had to be a Sith Lord.

"I assure you, Lord Marr, we will retrieve him." said the Vice Chancellor.

"You had better, Vice Chancellor." said the Sith Lord as the call endered.

Janarus turned around and saw the group in front of him.

"Ah, Master Jedi, it's good you're here." said Janarus as the entire party walked up to him.

"It is an honor, Vice Chancellor." said Satele as they all bowed, "Who were you talking to just now?"

"That was Darth Marr." explained Lazarus as she went to sit in the empty Chancellor's chair, "He's the head of the Sphere of Defense of the Empire."

"That is correct." confirmed Janarus, "He called us to ask for a joint mission between the Empire and the Republic."

"What could possibly cause the Empire to ask for our help?" questioned the Exile.

"One of the members of the Dark Council has been taken hostage." informed Janarus.

"That would do it." said Shae, "Although, it is hard to subdue a member of the Dark Council."

"Who was it?" asked Kin.

"A Sith Pureblood by the name of Darth Vowrawn." said Janarus.

"Aw, I like him." said Darth Lazarus as she began reading articles on the holonet, "He's the only one to ever laugh at my jokes."

"Anywho, the person who's holding him hostage has taken control of Darth Vowrawn's entire fleet and is shooting down any ship that approaches." said Janarus.

"Do we know the culprit?" asked Satele.

Janarus took a holopad and brought up a picture on it. Everyone that had come in with Satele looked at Naruto as he stared at the unmistakeable image of Tayuya. Naruto ran out of the room and outside with R2 hot on his heels and he headed toward the spaceport. He ran into Shae's ship and past Elie, who was fixed a squeaky chair. Naruto tried to turn on the ship and found that it wouldn't.

"Elie, what the hell is wrong with this?!" he shouted out of the cockpit.

"The engine needs repairs." she informed him as she came in.

Naruto crushed a small portion of the consol with his robotic right arm and gritted his teeth. He ran his hands through his hair and took several deep breaths.

"It's alright, young master." comforted Elie as she walked up behind Naruto.

Naruto looked back at Elie and threw his arms around her, surprising the young Cathar.

(An Hour Later)

After giving Kin a crash course in how to fly a Republic fighter and a vicious dog fight in the skys above one of the moons of Endor, Naruto and Kin flew their fighters into the flag ship of Darth Vowrawn's fleet and jumped out the instant they touched down. Kin drew her lightsaber as Naruto drew his Darksaber and both activated them in the air then began cutting down the soldiers and droids in the hanger. R2 hopped out of Naruto's ship and got behind the two of them.

"R2, find Darth Vowrawn!" ordered Kin as she and Naruto cut down the last of the Imperial forces in the hanger.

They all went over to an outlet where R2 extended one of his arms and projected a hologram to them.

"Darth Vowrawn is here." said Kin as she pointed up at the observation deck of the spire on top of the ship.

"Something's not right." said Naruto cautiously, "We got in too easily."

"You're right." said Kin in confirmation, "But we have to get this done, even if it means killing..."

"No." declared Naruto, "We're not killing her."

He headed for the door with Kin and R2 followed. They got in an elevator and headed up to the observation deck.

"R2, when we get inside, find a place to hide." said Naruto calmly.

R2 beeped in response and they all waited.

Tayuya paced back and forth in front of Darth Vowrawn, who was sitting in a chair at the front of the observation deck, which was empty except for them and two war droids hidden in the shadows.

"You are a curious one, my dear." inquired Darth Vowrawn, "Using me to draw your brother out."

"I care for him deeply." she said in slight distress, "But he's a Jedi and I'm a Sith."

"And quite a good one, at that." commented Darth Vowrawn, "You've even developed your own form of lightsaber combat."

"Naruto is the Chosen One and he might just be the one needed to end this war." said Tayuya as her neck burned slightly, "But if he can't stand up to my full power, then he will die."

She went up next to the doors of the elevator and waited in the shadows with the droids. A few moments later, the doors opened and Naruto and Kin stepped out of the elevator with R2, who went and hid in a corner. The two went down to Darth Vowrawn and bowed to him. The Sith Lord looked beyond the two and they turned around to see Tayuya coming out of the shadows with her two war droids.

"We'll do this together this time." said Kin as Naruto walked around her to her right.

"I was just about to say that." replied Naruto quietly.

"You're swords, please." said Tayuya as she flipped off the balcony overlooking the observation deck and her appearence changed.

Her hair got long enough to reach her legs and also got a little lighter. Her skin turned light brown and grew a pair of horns on her head. Her eyes also turned black and her silca turned yellow.

"We don't want to disappoint a Dark Council member." said Tayuya as she drew her lightsaber and turned it on.

Naruto and Kin did the same with Naruto holding his in a reverse grip and Darth Vowrawn looked at the Darksaber with interest. Tayuya gave a Makashi salute and felt the tension in the air. Naruto and Kin went forward with Shii-Cho and Juyo respectively while Tayuya easily countered with Makashi as she backed up.

"My powers have doubled since the last time we fought without anyone possessing you, sister." said Naruto calmly.

"Good." said Tayuya with a smile, "Twice the pride, double the fall."

Naruto instantly went into a Djem So/Makashi combo while Kin went into Soresu and both caught Tayuya offguard while she herself used Vaapad. When they got to the stairs, Tayuya Force Pushed Kin away as she and Naruto continued up the stairs. Kin went up the other stairs and cut the two droids down before rengaging Tayuya with Naruto. A moment later, Tayuya kicked Naruto away and threw Kin across the room with the Force and she hit the railing of the of the walkway that was over the observation deck, knocking her unconscious.

Naruto got to his feet and kicked Tayuya over the railing and down to the floor. Naruto jumped down and Tayuya managed to roll to her feet and engaged in a bladelock with her brother.

"I sense... great fear in you, brother." taunted Tayuya, "But you don't use it. Perhaps after I'm done with you, I'll take care of that little kitty of yours."

Naruto was then sent over the edge with those words. He broke off the bladelock and caught Tayuya offguard with a sped up version of her own Vaapad style. Tayuya was backed toward Darth Vowrawn and Naruto saw his chance. He executed a double Cho mai and cut off both of Tayuya's hands as her lightsaber shut off and flew into the air. Naruto moved behind Tayuya and caught her lightsaber then held both his and hers at her neck as she fell to her knees.

"Good, child." complimented Darth Vowrawn, "Kill her."

Tayuya looked up at Darth Vowrawn in disbelief and fear which Naruto felt as he looked at the Dark Council Member.

(Ten Minutes Later)

Satele waited with bated breath along with Shae as a single fighter flew into the hanger of the Republic Fleet that surrounded Darth Vowrawn's and landed gently. R2 hopped out of the fighter and Kin climbed out of it. Naruto followed and walked around Satele and Shae, shocking both of them, as he he headed toward Satele's chambers on the ship with R2. They both followed him in worry as he sat on Satele's bed.

"It was a set up." explained Naruto as he held his head in his hands while looking at the floor, "She's Darth Vowrawn's apprentice and this was a test for me."

"Why would the Sith give you a test?" asked Shae.

"Darth Vowrawn said he plans to overthrow the Emperor." was Naruto's reply.

"Impossible." said Satele, "Why would a member of the Dark Council want to kill the Emperor?"

"I don't know but he was telling the truth." said Naruto as he looked up at Satele, "You always taught me to be mindful of the Force but also allow it to convey to you the truth. And Darth Vowrawn was."

Shae went and sat next to Naruto while Satele ran through a particular thought in her head. She looked at Naruto's braid and quietly left the room. She came back in a few minutes later and found that Shae had left and Naruto was about to fall asleep.

"Where's Shae?" asked Satele.

"Back on her ship." said Naruto with a yawn, "We're heading back to Ibonihs the day after tomorrow."

"So, you're free tomorrow?" asked Satele.

Naruto nodded and lied down on Satele's bed.

"I would like you to spend the entire day with me tomorrow." said Satele seriously, "There's one bit of training that you were supposed to be taught before the Sacking of Coruscant."

"Sure." said Naruto as he fell asleep and snored.

Satele chuckled and put a blanket over Naruto. She kissed him on the forehead and left the room.

(The Next Day)

Naruto walked into his old room with Satele and R2 and looked to see that there was a thick layer of dust on everything. He used the Force to remove the dust and sent it all out of the window.

"Sit here and meditate until the Force tells you to stop." said Satele as she left with R2.

Naruto sat down at the foot of his old bed and closed his eyes.

(Force Vision)

"Naruto?" asked Shae weakly in the boy's arms as they were by a dying fire.

"It's alright, buir." said Naruto through tear filled eyes, "You're going to be alright."

"Naruto?" asked Shae again a little more high pitched and tearful.

She slowly closed her eyes and died along with the flames.

(End Vision)

Naruto snapped out of his meditation and breathed heavily as R2 came up to him.

"I'm okay, buddy." he assured the droid as he stood up.

"Is the little brat afraid of losing mommy?" came the voice in his head.

"Shut up." thought Naruto angrily.

"But as long as I'm a part of you, you must deal with me." came the voice.

Naruto closed his eyes and meditated again.

Naruto opened his eyes and found himself in a sewer. He looked up in front of him and stared at the giant cage before him. A large red slitted eye appeared on the other side of the cage and Naruto looked at his reflection in it.

"Finally visiting me again?" came the voice from the other side of the cage as a giant orange fox with nine tails appeared on the other side.

"I'm not strong enough to take your power yet." said Naruto calmly, "But once I am, I will defeat you."

"Heh. I'd like to see you try." said the fox as he closed his eye and vanished.

Naruto opened his eyes and stood up. R2 beeped happily and Naruto looked at him.

"What do you mean I've been meditating for an entire day?" asked Naruto as he looked out the window to see that it was dark out.

He walked out of the room and felt something tugging him to the old Council Chamber. He should've been able to see outside but it was so dark that he couldn't see outside. A red lightsaber blade shot out of the darkness behind Naruto to his left while a cyan blade came out of the darkness from his right. Another cyan lightsaber appeared in front of him and a light shone down from the ceiling with him in the middle.

Satele, the Exile, and Lazarus stepped into the light and Naruto looked at Satele, who was in front of him.

"Satele, what's going on?" asked Naruto in confusion.

"You will look back on this day as one of great joy, but also one of great sorrow." said Satele as she moved her lightsaber over each of Naruto's shoulder, "It will help you remember that, in life, the two are often closely linked."

She severed Naruto's hair braid and Naruto suddenly realized what was happening.

"You, Naruto, are now a Jedi Knight." said Satele as Naruto picked up his severed braid and looked at it then Satele.
