One of the Last Glimmers Fades

I don't own Naruto or Star Wars.

Kin walked through the base and into Naruto's room to find him working on a new lightsaber.

"You going to go to the funeral?" she asked.

Naruto remained silent and continued working on the lightsaber.

"Well, Lazarus and I are going." said Kin.

Naruto continued to withhold his voice and Kin left. Naruto finished his lightsaber and looked at it. It featured a ring emitter which could partially detach from the cylindrical hand grip in the center, which would allow the blades to rotate without effort from the welder. He pulled the handle apart to make it into two separate blades before putting them back together and removed the hand grip to make the whole thing a throwing disk.

He stood up and went to the door but staggered and grabbed his head.

"And here I thought you would care about that old man." said the dark voice in Naruto's mind.

"Shut up." he thought in anger.

"And he went and died in a battle just like dear mommy and daddy did." taunted the voice.

"I said shut up!" yelled Naruto as he the entire room cracked and was almost blown apart.

Naruto went to the training room and began working on his skills with his new lightsaber.

(Ten Minutes Later)

Naruto finally decided to give in and go to the funeral for the victims of the joint Suna/Oto attack on the village and exited the base in his dark robes. He climbed on a speeder and darted out of the base and up the canyon wall then toward Konoha. He stopped several yards from the grave where everyone had gathered but was a little surprised by how everyone was broken up into groups and there was a larger one and they were all muttering.

Naruto grunted and suddenly felt what was wrong.

"Move!" shouted Naruto as he pushed his way through the group of people.

When he got to the front of the group, he just didn't want to believe what he saw. He dart to Kin's side and held up her head.

"Come on, Kin." begged Naruto urgently, "Come on. Don't do this to me. Come on. It's gonna be alright. Kin? Kin?"

Naruto sobbed and Lazarus went up next to him.

"Naruto..." she began.

"Who did this?" asked Naruto as he gently sat Kin down and stood up to face the crowd, "WHO DID THIS?!"

A powerful Force Wave hit everyone and they all, minus Lazarus, were knocked off their feet and sent flying back at least six yards.

"You..." began Lazarus in shock, "You chose the Fount?"

Naruto stormed past her and headed back to the base.

(That Night)

Naruto sat in the comm room as he struggled with the guilt taking over his entire being. He pressed a button and waited.

"What is it?" asked Tayuya as she appeared as a hologram behind Naruto's chair.

"It's Kin." said Naruto as he tried not to let his guilt slip through into his voice, "She..."

"She what?" asked Tayuya.

"She's dead." said Naruto as he finally failed to get the guilt out of his voice.

Tayuya held her composure and looked at Naruto's chair.

"How did it happen?" she asked.

"The Hokage's funeral." said Naruto, "She was assassinated."

"But how's that possible?" asked Tayuya.

Naruto just turned around and Tayuya saw how miserable Naruto looked.

"I should've gone with her." said Naruto, "I could've saved her."

"It's not your fault." said Tayuya, "Just take some time to deal with this."

The call ended and Naruto reached out through the Force. He felt Satele's mind touch his and it calmed him down a little. R2 rolled up to him and beeped worridly.

"I'm okay, buddy." assured Naruto as he rubbed the top of the droid's head.

(The Next Morning)

"This is bullshit!" shouted Lazarus at the Council and the Daimyo, "There was an assassination at the Hokage's funeral and you're not going to do anything?!"

"Now, calm down, Kaori." said Homura, "ANBU are doing their own investigation."

"And they're led by that damn war hawk!" shouted Lazarus as she pointed at Danzo, "Do I have to remind you that he defied orders and facilitated the genocide of my clan along with you and that other bitch?!"

"Your clan was a danger and needed to be elminated." said Danzo calmly, "With that other incident at the funeral, it's probably best to restrict the jinchuriki's movements."

"Good luck." said Lazarus, "Naruto was raised off world and is more skilled than any past Hokage. Plus, I've been training him myself."

"You taught him?" asked the daimyo.

"I know what you're thinking and I decline." said Lazarus as she headed for the door, "Just be warned that if you make the wrong decision, Naruto is likely to kill everyone who refuses to have Kin's murderer brought to justice."

Naruto sat in front of the simple post that marked Kin's grave and sat in front of it. R2 was next to him while Elie gathered some flowers.

"Yo!" came a familiar voice to everyone in the clearing.

"What do you want?" asked Naruto as Jiraiya came up to him.

"Is your mother here?" he asked as he looked around.

"She's off planet." said Naruto.

"Too bad." said Jiraiya, "I was hoping to have a drink with her."

"Hello, Master Jiraiya." said Elie as she came over with the flowers.

"Oh, such a nice girl to bring flowers for me." said Jiraiya happily as he made to take them.

He was stopped by Naruto holding his Darksaber to his neck while continuing to stare at the grave.

"They're not for you, asshole." said Naruto as he put his Darksaber away and Elie sat the flowers on Kin's grave.

"Someone close to you?" he asked.

"My sister's girlfriend." said Naruto depressingly before he stood up.

He gave her some last rites in Mandalorian when Jiraiya noticed that there was a rather large pile of rocks around the post. Naruto flicked his wrist and the dirt over Kin's coffin flew away with a large portion of it flying into Jiraiya's face. Naruto poured some alcohol on it then ignited it. He watched as the coffin burned and soon, Kin's body as well.

"So, you wanna come on a trip with me?" asked Jiraiya.

"Why?" asked Naruto.

"I need you to help me find my old teammate, Tsunade." said Jiraiya.

"You do have a huge spy network, right?" asked Naruto.

"Of course." said Jiraiya.

"Get to the root of the problem." said Naruto, "Those were Kin's last words. Find out what they would mean."

"Don't need to." said Jiraiya, "She was speaking of ROOT. You could consider it the black ops of ANBU."

"How can I find them?" asked Naruto.

"It's pretty hard." said Jiraiya, "Officially, they were disbanded but that's a bunch of bullshit. They're ran by a man named Danzo Shimura, who's one of the elders of the village."

Elie and R2 looked at Naruto, who processed this information.

"When do we leave?" asked Naruto.

"Well, I'd like to say in about two days." said Jiraiya.

"That's fine." said Naruto as he headed back to the base with Elie and the base.

Satele went through some old records in the Jedi Archives on Tython when there was a knock at the door.

"You seem to be having a lot of fun." said Master Orgus Din as he entered the room.

"Just going over some things." said Satele as she searched the documents.

"Been a while since I saw actual paper." said Master Orgus.

"There's just something I wanted to check." said Satele, "Remember when I went missing a couple years ago?"

"How could I forget?" asked Master Orgus with a chuckle, "You had the entire Order in an uproar."

"Naruto reached out to me through the Force and told me that one of his friends was killed." she said, "I thought I would go through my old journel to see if there would be anything that could help."

She suddenly stopped as she found a page and her entire being gathered Force Energy.

"Calm down, Satele." advised Orgus.

Satele took several deep breaths and the Force Energy dispersed.

"I need to go see him." said Satele as she left the room with Master Orgus, "If the person behind all of this is who I think it is, then Naruto's in grave danger."

(Two Days Later)

"Do we really have to wait here?" asked Elie as she and Lazarus sat in the cockpit.

"Naruto's orders." said Lazarus, "Since Shae is offworld right now and Meetra rejoined the Order, you're the only person besides Tayuya that is around here."

The sensors went off and a large Republic Dreadnought came out of hyperspace.

"We're being hailed." said Elie as Lazarus went to the holocom just outside the cockpit.

"Hello?" asked Satele as she appeared on it.

"To what do I owe the pleasure, Satele?" asked Lazarus.

"Where's Naruto?" asked Satele.

"Planetside." said Lazarus, "Since Kin was assassinated, he ordered Elie and I up here until he gets to the bottom of things."

"Damn it." muttered Satele, "Have you heard of a Sith Lord named Darth Madara?"

"As in my ancestor Madara Uchiha?" asked Lazarus, "What about him?"

"He was responsible for the Kyuubi Attack on the village twelve years ago." said Satele.

"Impossible." said Lazarus, "He died over a hundred years ago."

"Then someone is using his name." said Satele, "Even though he never left the planet, Darth Madara's exploits were very well known in the Jedi Order. If this person using his name is as strong as him and has the same ideals then he may very well set his sights on the Republic next."

"I'll bring the ship in and give you the coordinates for Naruto." said Lazarus.

"What do you mean his coordinates?" asked Satele.

"His arm has a locator in it." explained Lazarus, "Shae had it put in there so she could make sure he was safe."

"Fine then." said Satele as the call ended.

"Elie, take us in." ordered Lazarus as she went to the docking ramp.

(Fifteen Minutes Later)

Naruto meditated in his hotel room he was sharing with Jiraiya when he felt a disturbance. He got up and grabbed his new lightsaber off his back. He pulled it apart and cut the door in half then stepped out into the hall. He glared at the two men in black cloaks with red clouds on them and narrowed his eyes.

"I'm not in the mood to play games." said Naruto, "One of my friends was killed four days ago so I would leave now if I were you."

"Stand back, Kisame." said the shorter man as he stepped forward, "I'll handle this."

They were all suddenly stopped as footsteps ran up the stairs.

"It's been a while, Sasuke." said the shorter man as Naruto looked over his shoulder and saw Sasuke standing there.

"Itachi Uchiha." said Sasuke angrily before Itachi looked at his brother right in the eye and Sasuke was on the ground screaming a moment later with his hands on his head.

He passed out a moment later and Itachi and Kisame turned back to Naruto.

"Good thing this entire floor in unoccupied." said Naruto with a smile.

"And why is that?" asked Kisame as he reached for his sword.

Naruto just smiled and dove back into his room as Satele broke through the window behind him, turning on both ends of her lightsaber the moment she was inside. She bounced off the walls as Itachi pushed Kisame back and blocked Satele's lightsaber with his own silver one.

"It's been a long time, master." said Itachi.

"I wish it didn't have to end up like this, my old padawan." said Satele as she went into a viscious routine of Niman while Itachi countered with Soresu.

Naruto joined in as well and went into a flurry of Djem So. Kisame broke the wall and both he and Itachi ran.

"What are you doing here?" asked Naruto as he shut off his lightsaber.

"I came to check on you." said Satele as she shut hers off as well, "The cloaks Itachi and that other man were wearing confirmed my suspicions."

"What suspicions?" asked Naruto.

"Those two belong to the same organization as the man who killed Minato and Kushina." said Satele.

Naruto clenched his hands and the floor cracked under his power of the Force.

(That Night)

Satele tended the campfire as Jiraiya slept then went off into the woods. She came to a hill with Naruto sitting on top and looking out over the sea of trees with R2 next to him.

"I know what you're thinking and stay out of my business." said the young Knight forcefully.

"Naruto, you're dangerously close to the dark side." warned Satele, "If you continue down this path..."

"Whatever path I'm on is my decision and mine alone." said Naruto as he stood up, "Those fools refused to do anything about Kin's murder so I have to take it into my own hands."

"You've got to let go of your past." said Satele as she placed a hand on his shoulder, "You can't form attachments to these kinds of things."

"Let me ask you something, Satele." said Naruto as he pulled his shoulder away, "Wouldn't you want justice if Theron or the Commander were killed?"

"I would but I would let it go through the system first." replied Satele.

"Well, this place isn't like the rest of the galaxy." said Naruto as he stood up, "Here, you have to find your own justice. These morons are so ignorrant that they don't grasp the magnitude of what they've done."

Naruto turned back to Satele when a hard blow struck him across the face.

"You..." said Naruto in disbelief, "You hit me. You've never hit me before."

"You need to face reality, Naruto." said Satele, "You're not always going to be able to be the hero. Sometimes, you just have to let things happen."

Naruto looked away and rubbed his cheek.

"You're right." said Naruto, "I'm sorry."

He continued to rub his cheek as he headed back to camp while Satele and R2 watched. R2 beeped worridly and Satele sighed.

"I'm worried too." said Satele as she folded her arms, "If this keeps up, he and I are going to have to settle this with more than words."
