"I see." said Chancellor Tenebrae, "I'm sorry for the loss of your Padawan."
"Thank you, Chancellor." said Naruto as he sat with the Chancellor in his office.
"Walk with me." said the Chancellor as they both stood up and slowly walked around the room, "I hope you trust me, Naruto."
"Of course." said Naruto.
"I need your help, son." said the Chancellor as they both stopped and turned to each other.
"What do you mean?" asked Naruto as they slowly started walking again.
"I'm depending on you." said the Chancellor.
"I don't understand." said Naruto.
"To be the eyes, ears, and voice of the Republic." said the Chancellor, "Naruto, I'm appointing you to be my personal representative on the Jedi Council."
"Me?" asked Naruto in shock, "A Master? I'm overwhelmed, sir. The Council elects its own members. They'll never accept this."
"I think they will." said Tenebrae as they exited the office, "They need you more than you know."
(Twenty Minutes Later)
In the Council Chambers in the Senate Building, the full Council, with some holograms projecting masters from across the Galaxy, sat in their seats and looked at Naruto.
"The Council does not like this appointment." said the Exile, "This move by Chancellor Tenebrae is disturbing."
"I understand." stated Naruto calmly.
"You're on this Council." said Master Kaeden, "But we do not grant you the rank of Master."
"What?" asked Naruto in disbelief, "I don't understand. How can you be on the Council and not be a Master?"
"Take a seat, young Shan." said Master Kaeden a little forcefully.
Naruto begrudgingly took the empty seat nearest the door and scowled at the Council.
"We have researched that holocron on Naboo and have discovered that it is a map to Force Nexuses." said Master Fane.
"This is a big problem." said Master Orgus, "If the Sith find these Force Nexuses, it could be trouble."
"We must acquire them before it's too late." said Master Bakarn.
"But we need to be careful." said Satele, "Until we know more, no one is allowed to go after any Force Nexus."
(Five Minutes Later)
"What kind of nonsense is this?" demanded Naruto of Satele as the strode down toward the exit of the Senate Building, "Put me on the Council and not make me a Master? It's never been done in the history of the Jedi."
"Calm down, Naruto." said Satele, "You have been given a great honor. To be on the Council at your age is incredible. The fact of the matter is you're too close to the Chancellor. The Council doesn't like it when he interferes in Jedi affairs."
"I swear to you that I didn't ask to be put on the Council." said Naruto as he stopped and turned to Satele.
"But it's what you wanted." said Satele as they walked again, "Your friendship seems to have paid off."
"I have nothing to do with this." stated Naruto angrily.
"The only reason the Council approved of your appointment is because the Chancellor trusts you." said Satele.
"And?" demanded Naruto.
"Naruto, I'm on your side but I didn't want to put you in this situation." said Satele.
"What situation?" asked the pissed off Naruto as they both stopped.
Satele sighed and turned to Naruto.
"The Council wants you to report on all the Chancellor's dealings." said Satele as they went off to the side, "They want to know what he's up to."
"They want me to spy on the Chancellor?" asked Naruto, "That's treason."
"We may not be at war know but the threat is ever looming." said Satele.
"Why didn't the Council give me this assignment while we were in session?" questioned Naruto.
"This assignment is not to be on record." said Satele as she left the angry Naruto.
(That Night)
Naruto slept in the apartment provided to him by the Chancellor with Elie when images entered his head. Naruto started tossing and turning and mumbling to himself before he shot up and took several deep breaths. He looked at Elie, who was sleeping next to him in the same bed and sighed in relief. Ranmaru stirred and Naruto scratched her belly.
"It's alright, girl." assured Naruto as he connected to the dog with the Force, "Go back to sleep."
Ranmaru soon fell asleep and Naruto gave a pained look at Kin's, Tayuya's, and Alar's urns that were next to Shae's helmet on a shelf by the door. He then looked back and Elie and caressed her sleeping cheek.
"I promise that I won't let you end up like them." he said lovingly.
(Two Days Later)
Naruto stood calmly outside the Chancellor's office when a Twi'lik Jedi about his age came up to him.
"Naruto, is that you?" asked the Jedi in joy.
"Do I know you?" asked Naruto as he looked at the Jedi.
"Don't you recognize me?" asked the Twi'lek.
Naruto squinted as he examined the Twi'lek and her red skin.
"Tara!" exclaimed Naruto in joy as he hugged his old friend, "It's been so long!"
"I heard you were on the Council now." said Tara, "You've made more progress than anyone else in our class. We've got to have drinks some time."
"Yeah." said Naruto with a smile, "I'd like that. I get off in about eight hours. How about I meet you in that cantina by the Temple. I hear that it's still running."
"I'll have to check with my Master but I think he'll let me go." said Tara, "I'll see you around."
She ran off and Naruto sighed as he reminissed about the good old days while he entered the Chancellor's office.
(Flashback)
A six year old Naruto was cleaning R2 in his room when there was a gasp at the door.
"You got your own droid?!" asked the young red Twi'lek female as she entered the room to look at R2.
"Yeah." said Naruto proudly, "Master Satele promised me my own droid for my birthday last month."
"It's so cool!" said the Twi'lek as she examined R2, "I'd say it's part of the R2 series but I've never seen anything this advanced from that series yet!"
"This guy has been working with the Order for years." explained Naruto with a smile, "Master Satele told me that Industrial Intelligence gave him as a gift to the Order for rescuing their CEO's daughter."
"What's its number?" asked the Twi'lek.
R2 beeped happily and the Twi'lek smiled.
"Nice to meet you Artoo-Detoo." said the Twi'lek, "My name is Tara."
"And I'm Naruto." said Naruto.
"Hey, do you mind if I come back and see Artoo when I want?" asked Tara.
"Sure." said Naruto, "We can find out all the things he can do together."
"Okay!" said Tara as she ran out the door, "Bye!"
"We made a new friend, Artoo!" cheered Naruto as R2 joined in.
(End Flashback)
Naruto and Tara entered Naruto's apartment and she whistled in awe.
"This is nice." said Tara.
"The Chancellor gave it to me." said Naruto before he looked toward the bedroom, "Elie, Artoo, I'm back and I brought an old friend!"
Ranmaru ran out from the back room and into Naruto's arms and he chuckled as she licked his face.
"Aw, cute." commented Tara.
"Yeah." said Naruto with a chuckle as he pulled Ranmaru away from his face, "I got her after buir died.
"Welcome home, Young Master." said Elie as she came out of the back with R2, who beeped happily at the sight of Tara.
"Hey, little guy." said Tara with a smile as she waved at R2, "Has this guy done anything dangerous?"
R2 whistled and beeped and Naruto sighed.
"Could you please not tell people about that?" said Naruto in a pained tone, "Anyway, the Chancellor has requested me to join him at the opera so I have to go. Please don't tell any stories about me while I'm gone."
"No promises, Young Master." teased Elie as Naruto left with a roll of his eyes.
(Fifteen Minutes Later)
Naruto entered the Chanellor's box in the Galaxies Opera House half way through the performance and sat down next to the Chancellor.
"You wanted to see me, Chancellor?" asked Naruto.
"I have good news." said Tenebrae as they both continued to watch the opera, "We have located one of the Force Nexuses. It's in Coronet City on Corellia."
"Finally, we can keep the Sith from acquiring them." said Naruto.
"I worry about the collective wisdom of the Council if it didn't select you for this assignment." said Tenebrae, "You are the most qualified as you lived there for several months and know all the underground gangs and such."
They both clapped when the rest of the opera house did and got silent again.
"Naruto, you know I am not able to trust the Council." said Tenebrae, "If they haven't yet, they soon will."
"I'm not sure I understand." said Naruto.
"You must sense what I have come to suspect." said Tenebrae, "The Jedi Council want control of the Republic. They are planning to betray me."
"I don't think..." began Naruto.
"Naruto, they didn't listen to you about the Sacking of Coruscant and they don't understand that you are Mandalorian at heart." said Tenebrae, "Search your feelings. You know, don't you?"
Naruto remained silent for a moment before he sighed.
"I know they don't trust you." confessed Naruto.
"Or the Senate. Or the Republic." said Tenebrae.
"I have to admit that my trust in them has been shaken." replied Naruto.
"Why?" asked Tenebrae as they looked at each other, "They asked you to do something that you're not comfortable with? They asked you to spy on me."
Naruto looked away and remained silent.
"Remember your early teachings." said Tenebrae, "All who gain power are afraid to lose it. Even the Jedi."
"The Jedi use their power for good." said Naruto.
"Good is a point of view, Naruto." said Tenebrae, "The Sith and the Jedi are similar in almost every way. Including their quest for greater power."
"The Sith rely on their passion for their strength." said Naruto, "They think only about themselves."
"And the Jedi don't?" asked Tenebrae.
"The Jedi would never order the massacre of innocents." said Naruto as he went back to watching the opera.
"You ever hear of Lord Vitiate the Scholar?" asked Tenebrae.
"No." replied Naruto.
"I thought not." said Tenebrae, "It's not a story the Jedi can tell you. It's a Sith legend. Lord Vitiate was a Dark Lord of the Sith during the time of Marka Ragnos. He was so powerful that he found a way to achieve immortality."
This peaked Naruto's interest and he looked over at the Chancellor.
"What happened to him?" asked Naruto.
"He untied all the Sith under his rule and became the Emperor of the very Empire that threatens our Republic now." said Tenebrae.
"He could actually stop death?" asked Naruto.
Tenebrae nodded and watched the opera.
"Is it possible to learn this power?" questioned Naruto.
"Not from a Jedi." said Tenebrae.
(The Next Day)
"Tenebrae says a Force Nexus is in Coronet City?" asked the Exile from Tython.
"Republic Scientists studied the charts even since we got them and found the precise location of one." reported Naruto, "It's in Imperial controlled territory."
"We must act on this." said Satele, "Naruto, can we trust you to retrieve this Force Nexus before the Sith on Corellia aquire it?"
"Hold on." said Master Kaeden, "How can we be sure he can suceed in this?"
"You have a problem with this, Master Kaeden?" asked Master Bakarn.
"While he did acomplish the mission to retrieve Tasiele, his Padawan got killed and not to mention he massacred an entire village of Tuskin Raiders." said Master Kaeden.
"I have already confessed to and served my punishment for that crime." said Naruto calmly, "And I know the layout of the entire city, including the underground tunnels as well as all the gangs there."
"When you look at the evidence, he is the most qualified." said Master Fane.
"Give me this chance and I promise on my life that I will not fail." assured Naruto.
Satele remained silent for a moment as she weighed her options.
"I'll give you this one chance, Naruto." said Satele, "Don't let me down."
"Thank you, Master." said Naruto as he left the Council chambers.
(Half an Hour Later)
Naruto calmly walked through the Imperial sector of Coronet City and quickly ducked into the sewers. He came across some Selonians but concealed himself from their sight with the Force. He went to a sealed off part of the sewers and cut through the bars blocking it and came up in the Imperial Sector he had been heading to.
He continued to conceal himself and headed into one of the oldest buildings in the city. He used the Force to open a hole in the ground, revealing a staircase that he descended. He entered an ancient temple and he walked along a narrow walkway up to a set of stairs. He spotted a Datacron and walked up some stairs to it. He carefully reached out to it grabbed it. The entire place began to shake as the Datacron crumbled to dust and Naruto hurried across the walkway and up toward the exit.
"Artoo, get the ship going now!" shouted Naruto as he ran out of the building.
He panted as he ran through the raining rubble and screaming people while the ground opened up and swallowed whole buildings. He used a fallen skywalk as a ramp to run up the side of a building and began running from roof to roof as the buildings crumbled under him. He jumped back to the ground as he got closer and dover over, and slid under fallen sections of buildings. He eventually got back on the rooftops and jumped into a window and tried to go through another but was stopped when the roof collapsed under him and he fell through. He hit hard before falling off twice more and landing on burning droid parts.
He picked himself up and got back to running. He made it to the last building between him and the ocean and ran up the stairs before jumping out a window and plunging into the water. The Rogue Shadow came to a stop about three dozen yards from the coast and Naruto swam to the loading ramp and pulled himself up with Ranmaru trying to help pulled him onboard. Naruto panted and coughed as he looked back at the devistated city and gritted his teeth while crying.
(Four Hours Later)
"So, what's the next city you want me to smite?!" shouted Naruto in his older form as he stormed up to Satele in a rage in her room in the Jedi Temple on Tython, "What happened on Malachore V happened in Coronet City."
The Exile rushed in and pushed Naruto away from Satele and continued to prevent him from getting to her.
"A great disturbance in the Force." said Naruto angrily, "Hundreds of thousands dead. Thanks to that damned holocron!"
'That can't be." said Satele.
"Naruto, a person cannot create a Wound in the Force." said the Exile defensively.
"You were one, Meetra." shouted Naruto, "A person meddling with these Force Nexuses could. You've seen what devistation these kinds of devices can cause. The Nexus was filled to bursting with this kind of power! YOU MADE ME SLAUGHTER INNOCENTS!"
"How dare you!" shouted the Exile.
"You defend her?!" shouted Naruto, "Satele sent me in there like Mandalore the Ultimate sent his men to their deaths before you activated the Mass Shadow Generator! She knew!"
Naruto tried to get at Satele again when Masters Orgus, Bakarn, and Kaeden burst in.
"Stop this!" shouted Master Kaeden as he, Orgus, and Bakarn pulled Naruto and the Exile apart.
"The operation was delicate." said Satele, "Maybe you..."
"You are shifting the Force itself!" shotued Naruto, "Who are you to decide what planet falls next?!"
"Get him out of here!" ordered Satele as the other Masters dragged Naruto out of the room and the Exile shut the door.
(That Night)
"Satele is a fool if she thinks I'll leave this be." thought Naruto as he stared at the flames of his fire while sitting about a mile from the Temple, "She cannot be trusted. The Order must never find another Force Nexus. I don't care if she's Grand Master or if she's like a mother to me. There's no excuse for this level of madness."
He choked the fire out with the Force then started heading toward the Temple. He walked up the steps and concealed himself with the Force before heading up to one of the research rooms on the top floor. Naruto entered the room at the end of the hall and went up to the holocron.
"There's no turning back now." muttered Naruto as he put the holocron in his robes.
"I had such hopes for you, Naruto." said Satele as Naruto turned around to face her.
"Mother." said Naruto, "I have to do this."
"And what is it you are exactly doing?" asked Satele, "Stealing from the people who raised you and trained you? Betraying me?"
"You didn't raise me." said Naruto as he moved extremely slow toward a window, "Buir did. And someone must make amends."
"Make amends?" asked Satele as she slowly walked toward the backing up Naruto, "You have no idea what you are doing! The future of the whole galaxy, maybe the universe, is tied up in that holocron."
"Perhaps." said Naruto, "But we don't have the right to decide that future."
"The right?" asked Satele, "We have the responsibility!"
"WE are responsible for destroying cities and killing innocents." said Naruto angrily as he got up into Satele's face, "This... mad grab for power. It ends now."
"I will not let you destroy everything we built!" shouted Satele as she grabbed Naruto to stop him from leaving.
Naruto sent her flying back with a Force Repulse and dove out the window. Satele ran toward an intercom and set it for the whole Temple.
"Everyone, stop him!" order Satele, "Stop, Naruto!"
Naruto panted as he could hear the sound of lightsabers all around him and jumped into the trees. He then hopped down on a speeder when several more came up along side him. Naruto gritted his teeth and led them through the forest before jumping off and running to the left. He skidded to a halt at a cliff and looked down below before not moving a bit as the Jedi came up behind him.
"That's enough." said Master Fane as Naruto entered Sage Mode and turned toward them while drawing his Darksaber and Tayuya's lightsaber.
"Give back the holcoron, Naruto." said Tara, "I'm sure Satele..."
"I cannot!" shouted Naruto through the tears in his eyes, "I will not let anymore innocent souls die. By my han or any of yours. Everyone I killed had been to protect my home planet. The massacre at Ilum. The attack on Naboo. All of this started when Satele abandoned me on Coruscant!"
He shut off his lightsabers and fell back off the cliff. Everyone rushed toward the edge just as the Rogue Shadow came up sharply and activated its hyperdrive almost instantly. Everyone was thrown off their feet and looked up at the empty sky.
(Thirty Minutes Later)
"I see." said Tenebrae as Naruto reported to him, "So, these Force Nexuses are that dangerous."
"Yes, Chancellor." said Naruto, "I had to stop the Jedi from searching for them."
"The Jedi will come here in search of you." said Tenebrae as he got out of his chair and looked out the window, "However, they cannot apprihend you. I am granting you full immunity from the Jedi and pardonning you of your crimes."
"Thank you, Chancellor." said Naruto.
"I'll have all your things moved to an easily defended stronghold and assign an entire division to protect you and Elie." said Tenebrae, "Also, I'm making you my personal bodyguard."
"I thank you for this honor, Chancellor." said Naruto as he left.
(Five Minutes Later)
Naruto rushed into his apartment and into Elie's arms and cried.
