Clary's POV
There he stood, right in front of me in on a slightly crowded side walk. I could feel the heat radiating from his body but all I could focus on was the small velvet box in Jace's now shaky hands. My eyes blurred with unshed tears and I looked up to him, he gave me a shaky smile and finally spoke.
"This isn't what you think Clary, I'm not proposing... In a way. What I have here is a promise ring, I know that it must sound stupid to you but Ive been thinking about it and I thought it'd be a good idea". He open the box to reveal a small silver ring, engraved on it was a C and a J looped to gether. "This ring is a reminder how I love you and how I will be with you even while you're treating someone else. I love you Clary, if you accept this it is a promise, and one day I will trade that ring for a wedding ring and that way the world knows I love you and you will always be with me".
I had no way to respond but you wrap my arms around him and burying my face in his neck, "oh of course Jace! I love you so much". I meant to say it louder but with emotion clogging my throat it came out as a whisper, but he heard it. Jace's corded arms were wrapped around me, he pulled back just enough to look into her beautiful green eyes. He smiled one more time and presinted the small box again, Clary looked at the ring more closely now, it wa s perfectly crafted, smooth with lettering just the right way, then she saw the inside. Bellum tibi a me quidem abstinuit, I looked to him, confused what it said until he smiled a loving smile. "Not even war could keep me from you".
I smiles widly as I placed the ring on my right ring finger and smile up at him "I love you Jace". He kissed my forehead in took my hand with the ring on it and kissed each knuckle then the ring. He smiled again and pulled my hands, leading me into the book store.
In side the store wasn't lit well but it was cozy and warm. As we strolled the shop the books were old and dated, there were only a few other people in the shop so he stopped me and wrapped me in his arms in a random isle. "Jace what are you doing?" I could feel him laugh slightly. "What so now I can't hold my love in whom I just gave a ring to?". I hit him im the chest "Jace you're acting like we just got engaged". He lowed his head next to my ear "just you wsit sweet heart, you'll know when I do". I scoffed, "come on if you're done I saw an art store I wanted to pick supplies up at".
He smiled slyly "oh yeah we can go, sorry I didnt see any of the books, I was too busy looking at you". I feel a blush creep up on my face and quickly ushered him out of the store.

Jace's POV
She said yes, she took the ring, it all went so perfect. I was standing beside Clary in the pencils isle of the this art store thinking about the day. It had gone so perfect and now there she was, even as she concentrated on the pencils of different what evers she looked amazing. The way her face scrunched together focussing to how strands of her hair fell from the bun she had to the side of her face.
Finally Clary had picked a package of pencils and a sketch pad, as we walked to the counter the little bell on the door range and out called a voice "Hey Brian I'm here for my pick up". I knew that voice.
Flash back
I was 18 and it was family dinner tonight, Alec told us he invited a friend over to eat with us tonight. It was quiet as Maryse set the table, Izzy was upstairs on the phone or something, Alec and Max were playing Chess and I was flipping though the TV channels tryojg to find a movie.
Soon dinner was ready and we were sitting at the table, Alec's mystery guest has yet to show. Just as Maryse finished bringing out the meal our door bell rang, Alec's face flushed and he hastily left to get the door. There was an awkward silence through the table excrept the spound of Max swingbhis legs and occasionally hitting the floor.
Soon there were footsteps approaching and we all turned to door way, Alec walked in first but I knew there was some one behind him, his face was pale and the smile on his face seemed forced, when he spoke it was quiet and low but we all heard it.
"Guys, I'd like you to meet Magnus" he stepped aside to reveal I only slightly shorter boy with blue tipped spiky hair. "Magnus is my... He's my boyfriend and we've been together for about a now". I had to admit I had a hunch about Alec's sexuality but it didn't matter, he was still my brother. We sat in silence until Robert stood up. "GET OUT!" We all stared at him, eyes wide and mouths agape. When Alex opened his mouth in response Robert cut him off. "ALEXANDER GET THE HELL OUT OF MY HOUSE AND TAKE TAHT FAG WITH YOU" (An: guys again I use that as a term mainly cause I hate robert but please no one take offence I support all sexuality rights) We could all see that Alec had I shed tears in his eyes as Magnus took his hand and walked in the direction in which they came. Maryse quickly sent Max to his from with a promise of brownies for dessert, once he was gone hell didn't break loose like you would think. It was so silent hell would be scared.
It was time for me to speak up... I stood up in my chair and headed for the exit. My father saw me and right away jumped on my tail "where the hell do you think you're going" I turned to him, eyes burning. "I am going to go be with my bother, he deserves a family more than you" I couldn't see the hurt in his eyes but I saw it in Maryse's. As I stormed out I heard the clickung of heels behind me and turned to see Izzy rushing to my side. "You're right Jace he needs his family right now and that's what we are for".
end of flash back
My eyes widened at the sight of him, he looked almost the same. His skin was darker and he had grown a bit taller, stood a bit prouder, but I saw the pain hidden in his eyes.
"Magnus" that was all I said and he turned to me, his eyes still shown almost cat like. I felt Clary by my side as she took my hand. "Hey Jace, who is this?" I turned to her, "Clary this is magnus.. He is.." I choked up at my brothers name but luckiliy Magnus picked up where I couldnt go on. He stuck his hand out "Magnus Bane, I was Jace's bother Alec's Boyfriend". Clary smiled and shook his hand "Clary Morganstien, I'm Jace's... Uh girlfriend I guess you could call me". Magnus smiled warmly at her. I was finally able to speak up "Magnus, would you like to come with us back to our apartment, I'd love to catch up with you and Clary could get to know you better".
Magnus grabbed the bag the store clerk left for him and turned back to us "I would love to, lead the way".
