SEEING YOU FROM AFAR
-sweetly ME-

CHAPTER 5

It's so silent… The night was completely irritating: So full of nonsense things… Who would've thought that it would totally go insane? The silence was so deafening to somebody's ears.

A chestnut head was lying down at his bed. Something was bothering his mind. That's for sure. A hand was placed on top of his forehead. The thing happened a while ago just couldn't get off of his mind.

"What the hell is wrong in asking?" He murmured to himself. "Dammit!" he cursed.

-FLASHBACK-

"Why the hell did you bring me here for?" Daidouji asked.

"I'll just ask you, kay?" Syaoran sighed.

"But shouldn't you pick Sakura-chan instead?"

After those words came out from Tomoyo, Syaoran hid his face under his silky chestnut hair.

"Oh, I get it…" She said, putting a forefinger at her chin with an evil smirk. "You like her, isn't that right?"

He blushed. But Tomoyo noticed this. "What if I am?" he lowered his voice.

"I'm just asking you. Why? Do you really have any special feelings for her?" She leaned forward to him hoping that what he will say would be the thing she thought it is.-that he likes her.

But he didn't answer.

"Yo, Syao… SILENCE mans YEESS…" She blurted out.

Still no answer. He was afraid that when this girl finds out, she would only laugh at him. He clenched his fists.

"YES! Okay, I am in love with her! What's wrong with that? Finally, he managed to get out.

…kriing…

A phone call was heard all of a sudden and it was Syaoran's phone. It was that, Hiragizawa called up.

"Yo, what's wrong?" he asked. He sat up at the corner of the bed.

"WHAT? SHOULDN'T I BE ASKING YOU THAT STUPID QUESTION? OH MAN!" He said sarcastically in a high tone which made Syaoran move the phone inches away from his ear.

And as a pay back, he also screamed at him. "What on earth are you talking about?"

"SHADDUP! Don't get me wrong man, I'm talkin' about Kinomoto – san."

"Eh?" As to his surprise, he stood up in reaction. "What? Sakura-san? Is something wrong with her? Is she injured? Is she okay?"

"-SIGHS- now let me answer that one by one… Sakura Kinomoto, yes, she's the one I'm talking about this whole time. Something's wrong with her? Yes, that's what. And you also asked if she's injured, right? Now the probable answer would be YES! A capital Y, E, and S…" he almost screamed again this instant. "You injured her heart for freakin' hell's sake! She likes you but you still don't get the point!"

He didn't answer. He knew that it was his fault. No matter what everyone says, he's still at mistake. Bangs covered his amber eyes. The phone had slid through his hand and now, it was on the floor. He didn't care what happens to the phone. But then, he managed to pick it up and guess what. He threw it to the wall making it break into pieces.

"I know… It's a fool of me to be that so stupid airhead. I never cared at anyone's feelings, but what am I feeling right now? Guilty? Am I so guilty that I ended up broking her heart?" he asked himself. "I'm so useless. How can I get out into this mess now? I ruined her. And I used her friend to be the decoy. I should be ashamed of myself."

It's all because of his foul play that he injured her innocent heart, tearing them into pieces. It was a jerk of him. None of this would ever happen if he confesses his feelings for him in the first place. But then, he never tried. He never tried to say his real feelings because he was afraid of the word REJECTION. He was afraid that the past would happen again this time. He really is a coward for that. He's no brave. He's not a real man. He's not a pretty good lover himself, too. He's always like that. But he'll change it.

'Right, I'll confess to her tomorrow. I don't care if she rejects me. Whatever! I'll change my old self. I'll say to her that I really love her.

FLASHBACK ENDS

The next morning, it was so bright and sunny. Sakura was at school then. But her sadness was depressing her. Thanks to that no-good Syaoran.

"Good morning, Sakura…" Chiharu greeted her happily. But Sakura only responded with a smile. But that smile didn't cover up her misery. Chiharu can read her face at that. Besides, they were close friends since elementary days. "Anything that bothers?" She asked.

"No, nothing. I'm fine." She smiled again. "I'm just tired. There's a short story writing contest at school journal. The journalists and writers were the one to join. That way, the higher staffs can choose who will be the next editor in chief next year." She explained when they entered the room. "I got pretty exhausted in thinking what story I will make."

'Oops, I sort of lied. I'm not exhausted because of the contest. I'm upset because of Syaoran. –And Tomoyo. Although, I already started some stories.' Sakura thought to herself.

"It's okay." Chiharu cheered her up. "I know you can think up of a way for a story." After she said that, Tomoyo entered the room. From the corner of her eye, she saw Sakura at her table. She saw her peeked at her too. Sakura smiled at her.

'Sakura…' She called her name in her mind. Then, she went to her seat.

"Is there any problems between you and Tomoyo?" Naoko suddenly appeared from nowhere.

"Oh, what? No, we're okay. It's just I'm too tired to say hello to her." She lied, again.

"… And you're not getting tired of talking to us?" She asked sarcastically.

"Yeah, it's just so weird to both of you. I mean you're best friends ever since." Chiharu concluded.

But before Sakura can open her mouth to talk, the bell had already rang. So, her friends went to their proper sits. Their first subject teacher was Tarada-sensei. The one that is being inspired by Rika-san.

'We were best friends.' Sakura said to herself again. She erased all unwanted things in her mind and focused only to what the teacher will discuss.

Lunch break was up. The classes were already halfway done. Some students went to the cafeteria to eat their lunch, the others went there to order foods, some had gone to the library, and some of them just stayed inside the room to eat peacefully, somehow.

Sakura was eating her lunch. But it seems that she had lost her appetite. She only ate up a few bites and then she covered it up again. She went outside to buy some soda. But neither her classmates knew where was she going.

"Yo, Sakura, matte…" Chiharu went to her, hoping that she could still catch up. She was with Naoko and Rika.

"Oh, guys, what's up?" She asked them. "Sorry, I'm just gonna go buy me some drinks, what would you like?"

"Uh, thanks but no thanks, were coming with you." Rika said.

When they reached the vending machine, they inserted a coin for their desired drinks. Sakura was the first one to finish her soda. She threw it at the trashcan.

"Guys, I'm just gonna go to my locker, I forgot my P.E. shoes." And there she goes again.

"Eh? Again? Just hurry okay?"

But she's not going there. For the third time this day, she lied. She only wanted to go out for air. But something engrossed her attention. There was a guy. A guy who was a student from Tomoeda, obviously, but that guy was holding roughly the hand of a girl. As to her surprise, it was Tomoyo, which was being maltreated by that guy. She noticed that there were still other guys, three other guys, that is. The guy was holding a knife at his right hand. She was carefully observing things that way. She hid behind a bush.

Unbeknownst to her, someone was also watching her. It was the chestnut haired guy, which broke her.

'What is Kinomoto-san doing here?' he thought to himself. The place was at the ground floor. It was already near the garden and there were no other students except them.

'What's going on here?' Sakura was confused, until she heard the guy speak.

"You, crappy girl, you don't know what you got yourself into. And you know what? It's big time TROUBLE FOR YOU!" He shouted. "And as for revenge for my love… I will definitely stab you little by little!"

"No, please…" Tomoyo said to them so he wouldn't hurt her.

When Sakura heard this, she was surprised. If she will not get her best friend out of there, surely, she will feel pain. The three guys were holding her. The other guy who had said absurd things to her was the one who was holding a sharp pointed knife. He lifts it up to the air, ready to stab her.

"NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Sakura went there to save her. But sad to say, she was injured because she saved her best friend. She pushed her so she would be the one to accept it. There was now a scar to her face. Blood was rushing down from her cheeks. Sakura could feel the pain.

"Sakura!" Tomoyo went to approach the fallen Sakura. Tears from Tomoyo's yes were falling in concern to her. "Sakura, hey! Sakura, pull yourself…"

Syaoran's eyes widened for what he had seen. He was angry, at the same time surprised. He clenched his fist to make a move.

"Oh, I see, now there are more victims… Play nice, my little kittens." The unknown guy giggled.

"Sakura. There's blood from you're face. Why did you save me?"

"Oh, please… T-This is only from the face… I'm okay… Besides, were best friends right? I'm not yet going to die."

"Are you ready for the next stab, eh?" said again the guy.

But they were surprise when they saw a chestnut guy threw a huge stone to the face of the guy who was holding a knife. It stroked his belly.

"Syao…ran…" Sakura said his name before she loses her consciousness.

"Oh, Li-san is here… Come on, let's get out of here." The guys ran away. They were coward in front of Syaoran.

He clenched his fist a bit more. He saw Sakura at the land with so much blood from her face.

"Let's get her to the nurse's office." From there, Tomoyo nodded. Syaoran carried Sakura, bridal style. She was in full unconsciousness. Syaoran was mad at those guys. Tomoyo was upset on what had happened.
