Authoress Note: This is just a little idea I had on an opposite idea of the Death Note in general. I'm sure there are similar stories to this kind of topic, but this is my own creation.

All right then guys and gals, thanks to some helpful reviews from open-minded readers, I've had a good night's sleep to ponder on new ideas for The Life Script. First of all, I debated on writing a fanfiction. I'm relatively new with being interested in the Death Note series, so bear with me. For now, I'm just going to continue a step-by-step process involving the use of Life Script and present certain scenarios involving the notebook. This piece is dedicated to Ryuk stealing The Life Script just for kicks and never giving it back, like he did with Sidoh's Death Note.

Thanks to PiScEs-BlOsSoM69 and Demi-Crow Sings for reviewing. Especially to Demi-Crow Sings for her supportively critical review of my own idea for the Life Script. Much appreciation goes out to you.

Enjoy reading.

The Script the most ill-gotten piece of useless trash created within the Shinigami World. It was only natural that the worthless grunts would just leave it lying around in one place for the longest time. The notebook smelled musty and it was covered in some kind of mold. An array of shriveled apples littered its altar. Ryuk's jagged teeth clicked together in annoyance, but he warily glanced around, feeling as though he was being watched. Despite the fact nothing was there, he knew after tricking the King of Death, he would have to be extra careful. Screw it; he didn't really monitor the lives of the Shinigami, that shit was just a myth.

Nobody really gave a damn about The Life Script, as there was only one to use. "Hmph. What idiot would be stupid enough to use it anyways?" Ryuk hummed to himself in curiosity, looming over the dais. His spindly fingers moved forward to poke at the shriveled apple carcasses surrounding the book. One could never be too careful.

After another glance over his shoulder, he drew closer to the dusty white notebook and stared down at it. "King of Death goes through a bunch of trouble to acquire this book and he doesn't even use it. Huh! Ridiculous. Why get it if you're just gonna let it sit and waste away? That's like throwing a perfectly delicious red apple into the waste." Dust caked the cover of the Script as he leaned closer to it. He inhaled and immediately gave a snort. Well, it's not like it had the most pleasing scent either. Ryuk didn't really care, he just wanted to see what would happen if he took it. If the other shinigamis freaked, then he'd get a good amount of entertainment out of it.

Once more, he found himself pondering on his previous thoughts: 'If it's such an important artifact, why is it here without protection?' He finally picked it up and wiped the dust off with a quick swish of his other hand. The elegantly written title stood out in neat cursive writing: Life Script.

"Now, let's see what's so 'powerful' about this stupid thing." A mutter coursed from his throat, whilst his yellow eyes perused the inner workings. He opened the book, finding the 10 Simple Rules written on the inside cover in the same font on the front. His brows rose with interest at the print, as a grin slowly spread out across his jagged mouth. "Well, that's something ain't it?" His wide beady eyes scanned over the text, finding some of it to be nonsense. In a Death Note, there were at least more than 50 rules and regulations regarding the use of the notebook, but for this there were less than 20.

The most ridiculous clauses, to him, pertained to either a Shinigami extending a human's life without dying or vice versa. "…Well, that's interesting." He mused to himself, scratching beneath his chin in thought. He continued to mutter to himself, reading in a low tone whilst continuing to skim the Life Script. He paused though at one of the rules closer to the bottom of the page. A finger trailed along the sentence, tapping the words. "Should one destroy the Life Script, the destroyer themselves will perish in the process. Thus their name appears in a Death Note and they die too. Ho. That's intense." A dark chuckle escaped his dark, dry, lips. "I guess it's fair. I mean, this book is supposed to give life and not take it. It's only natural all bad souls get what's coming to them."

His mind strayed back to Light in the human world. He used to be a nice kid once upon a time ago, but then again something had to have been off for him to pick it up in the first place. Now, the shinigami was stuck with the bastard until he got his notebook back. Casting a glance down at the Script, he wondered what Light would do if he had both the power of Life and Death in his hands. Visibly he cringed, gnashing his teeth together in protest. Nah, that wasn't a good idea. It wouldn't have been as fun and he was already drunk on the power of the Death Note. There was no sense giving him this other one for shits and giggles.

Light's agenda had switched up quite a bit since obtaining the black notebook a while ago. The events that they had forgone to make sure his identity, as Kira, remained a secret probably wouldn't last much longer.

He gazed down at the notebook again before an idea crossed his mind. Well, it was a thought; perhaps not exactly a plan but he hadn't been getting any apples lately. A hand ran over where a stomach should have been, feeling the visible emptiness within himself. Given his deprivation, Ryuk felt that maybe it was time he upped the ante a bit. Perhaps some payback was in order. Giving the Life Script to a different human could provide interest.

He flipped through the empty black pages of the white notebook and found them all empty. "This could be fun. Kira, 'god of the new world', versus 'the giver of life'. I like the added drama effect." A raspy chuckle escaped his throat.

"This might work out after all, if I drop it in the right place, the right time, and with the right person. Hopefully I'll get something out of this when it's all over. Gotta start skulking around in the human world again if this is gonna work. I'm getting tired of the same routine…" He grinned, flicking at his earring in contemplation. With his plan in mind, a pair of ragged feather wings sprouted from his back and Ryuk hovered above the ground. "This could be huge!" He cackled before flying off back to the human realm.

Author's Note: This should prove to be an interesting turn of events in the Death Note series eh? Wish it was a plot twister in the actual anime. Ha, if only. Well whom shall the 'giver of life' be designated as? Find out in the next chapter folks! Thanks for reading chapter 2!
