AN: sorry, sorry, SORRY about the long wait. My laptop had died with the next few chapters on and I just could find the time to rewrite it all. But I promise I will try to update much quicker.

As Sam weighed the phone in her hand she couldn't bring herself to press the call button. Tess was glaring at her with expectation. Taking a quick glance around the room for any escapes away from Tess's glare she quickly opened her phone to Dylan's contact. Taking a large breath in, she pressed the green call button. As she heard the dialling tone her breathing speed up a lot and she could see the room spinning. Tess sensing her distress immediately started rubbing her back and whispering for her to calm down. Panicking Sam jumped up from the bed, dropping the still ringing phone in the process, and ran out of the room ignoring Tess's cries for her to stop and come back. With one fleeting glance Sam ran out of the hospital.

Sometime later Tess found Sam softly crying on the swings in the park just down the road from the hospital. Sitting down of the heavily graffiti swing next to her, Tess turned to her and said "Sam, honey, are you ok?" All she got in reply was a small moan from the younger women before she turned her head towards Tess and whispered "How am I meant to tell him? It's not just something you can drop in a casual conversation. I was a doctor in a war zone yet I can't even tell my husband that I've had a baby and he's the father. How am I even meant to care for a baby? I'm no good with kids. What am I going to do?" Tess's heart broke for the woman that she once saw so strong and undefeatable. "Just call him and ask him to meet you in the hospital. You can use my office to talk and explain the situation. Now about the baby, your baby, just take it a little at a time, starting with a name for him." Tess told the hysterical doctor. Sam looked at her before she slowly nodded and got up. Reaching in her pocket for her phone she remembered she was in a hospital gown causing her to blush red before looking around the park hoping no one was out for a Christmas stroll. Christmas, Sam though. After everything that had happened today she had forgotten it was Christmas day. Turning around Sam headed back to the hospital, Tess following right behind her.

A few minutes later found Sam with the phone once more in her hand but this time she was sitting on her bed in the room alone as she had asked for privacy. Calling for the second time that day Dylan's mobile she waited for the ringing to stop. "Dr Nichols. To what do I owe the pleasure of you calling me on Christmas day? Not to wish me a merry Christmas I hope. You know how I feel about this holiday" came Dylan's voice through her phone causing Sam's to smile softly. Same old Dylan she thought. Now for the tricky bit convincing him to come back to Holby to talk to her. "Hello Dylan. You are right. This isn't a social, festive call. I have something that I need to speak to you about."Sam whispered into the phone. She prayed her wouldn't ask too many questions just yet. "So then what do you want to speak to me about? Hurry up I don't have all day." Dylan replied. "I need to speak to you about something important. Can you come into Holby? I really need to speak to you, today."Sam started out strong but her voice broke into a little whisper at the end causing her to sound so desperate, something Dylan didn't miss out on. "Sam, are you sure you're ok? There's nothing wrong with you." Dylan grumbled worried about his sort of wife. Sam breathed deeply cursing the fact that he was so good at picking up on her emotions. "Just can you please come to Holby soon? Please Dylan." Sam pleaded with him. "I'll be there in an hour or so but this better be import Samantha" Dylan resolved before swiftly hanging up. Taking a deep breath Sam placed her head in the pillow and let relief fill her up.
