oOo
The first of May was a rainy day.
Bella had finally finished unpacking all her belongings. Furniture-wise, there wasn't a lot she'd taken from her old flat, which was now Jackie's new one. The armchair, cooking utensils, the desk her parents had given her. The rest were books and clothes, dvds, some lamps and pillows.
Since she'd already been spending so much time at Edward's, it mightn't have felt like much of a change, but to her, it was. The idea that this was their home still was exotic, because she wasn't a visitor now. And she'd never pictured herself living in a big house in Maida Vale. A house with a garden and a balcony, a huge living room with a patio, and three bedrooms.
Her parents owned a house, but that was nothing like this. This was… posh.
But not too posh, since it was Edward's. And with the little touches her things had added, it was really beginning to feel like home. Plus, she could shower without the water running cold, Collin didn't ring her doorbell at night, and she needn't stand the smells from Farouf's Cosucous any longer.
They'd been lingering in bed until eleven, cuddly and warm after wakeup sex, talking and touching and giggling. When they finally got up, Edward went downstairs to make breakfast while Bella showered, and they watched the raindrops on the windowpanes over tea and fruit and toast. Edward was reading The Times and Bella had her nose in The Unfolding of Language, her feet in his lap. It was peaceful, and it was perfect.
They only got up from the table around one thirty, and Bella yawned lazily and stretched, which prompted Edward to tickle her stomach.
"I need to get some work done," she smiled, grabbing his wandering hand before it could reach her chest. She kissed his fingers, one after the other. "And didn't you say you were going to work a bit, too?"
Edward's lips went into a pout.
"Hmm?" She kissed his pointer finger, letting her lips enclose it lightly.
Edward heaved an exaggerated sigh.
"Think of all the fun we can have afterwards," she whispered, bringing her tongue to just the tip of his finger.
Edward was watching her from hooded eyes.
"You're a little devil, do you know that?"
She grinned.
"I'm not. I just need to get my paper done." Standing on her tiptoes, she kissed his lips.
"I know." His hands were splayed over the small of her back. "And I promise I won't keep you from work." He gave her lips a few warm pecks. "I love you," he whispered in between.
"I love you," she replied.
"Go," he smiled. "Study."
"'kay. And you go and paint." She gave him one more kiss. "And then we'll have a long bubble bath?" she suggested.
"Mmm, yes."
Their lips merged once again before Bella went to her study and Edward to his studio.
