Impossible
She stared at him across the hall. He was so wonderful. After dinner they would be together again. She was excited, but sad. She couldn't be with him in public. They could not share their love for the whole world to see. Sometimes Hermione really hated being a "mudblood". If she was a pureblood she could sit there with him. She could hold his hand in front of everyone. She could tell Pansy exactly how much of a chance she had with him. However, it wasn't possible. Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley would not appreciate a relationship with the Slytherin Prince and herself. His family would never accept her. It was impossible for them to be together. Therefore, once a week they met in private. It was a secret. He was her secret. Recently she had realized just how much she loved him. It hurt to see Pansy try and catch his interest. She would have loved to tell Pansy what she thought of her. Pansy was going to get him. Today she was breaking off the relationship. She had no choice.

She waited for him in the Room of Requirement, as usual. Draco walked in and smiled at her. She tried to smile. The effect told him something was wrong. He asked lightly "Is something up love?"
She looked into his eyes, but had to drop her gaze quickly. She couldn't leave him while she looked into those grey orbs. They had powers over her that she could not escape. She had to lie to leave him and she could not look into his eyes while she lied. "Draco, we have to end this. I'm sorry." she whispered.
"Why?" Draco asked. The hurt was apparent in his voice. She couldn't stand that pain. She felt terrible.
"I've been with someone else for a month now." she lied. Her voice was shaking. She prayed that it was a believable lie. If he knew the real reason, he would not allow her to leave him.
"Hermione, how could you?" he asked. He was too angry to yell. He was in too much pain to scream. She knew him too well. She had truly hurt him by saying that, but it had to be done.
"I'm sorry Draco. Good-bye." she said as gently as possible. After that she fled from the room. She couldn't stop her tears. They flowed freely, clouding her vision. Soon she was back to the comfort of her bedroom. In precisely one moth she would graduate. She had to continue living a lie for one month to protect Draco. The thought was unbearable. She just hoped that no one would notice. If word of the real reason got to Draco he would seek her out. He would force her to change her mind. The thought only caused more tears.
------------
Three moths had passed since Hermione had left Draco. All she could do was think about him. She regretted leaving him. However, she knew it had to be done. She was living with her parents at the moment. In about six months she would go to live on her own. She was scared and excited. She was now four months pregnant. She would have to take care of her baby girl. The unborn child was Draco's baby too, but he didn't know that. She had already made sure of that. She was nervous about raising a baby alone, but she had her parents help if she needed it. Things would be difficult for a while. She was working a muggle job right now. She didn't want Draco to find out. Harry and Ron knew she was pregnant, but she refused to release the father's name. She imagined Harry and Ron's faces were they to find out it was Draco. The idea made her laugh. A rarity these days.
She wished Draco could know about the child, but it would complicate things too much. How would his father react? Voldemort and Lucius were still at large. Maybe someday, after Harry defeated Voldemort and took care of Draco's dear father, she could tell Draco. Until then, it was impossible.
