Endless Rain

By Bittersweet Smile

My very first fic!

My very first angst too…

DISCLAIMER: Don't sue me I'm broke…and I don't own any of the characters, blah, blah, blah…

Flower petals fall in a hushed whisper.

Then…silence…

No one but me. Alone.

Tomoyo walked slowly toward her house…alone.

Usually Eriol would walk with her but…he was with Kaho, again…

Seeing them together…it broke her heart…

She loved Eriol…but it would always be one-sided…

The silence of the rain.

The cold, bitter rain.

They shatter as they fall.

They are like me.

They announced their engagement during the reception after Sakura and Syoaran's wedding…

The now married couple both exchanged worried looks.

They knew or suspected how Tmoyo felt.

While congratulating the newly engaged red haired teacher and the sorcerer, everyone couldn't help thinking, "There's something wrong with this picture…"

Tomoyo placed on her façade and masked her true emotions.

"Kaho…Eriol. Congratulations on your engagement."

As she turned around, her mask slipped and she ran out the door,

Running, tears streaming from her eyes, she ran down the street.

There, at Penguin Park, she collapsed onto the swing, too overcome with her emotions…

She remembered that one day…

Flashback to when they were in high school-

Eriol was pushing her on the swings, as she laughed with glee.

Her hair streaming back, she jumped off.

Then it started raining.

Eriol quickly grabbed her hand and they both took off for the slide where they collapsed under giggling and laughing at how wet they were.

Tomoyo had liked Eriol then, too.

Smiling, Eriol had brushed her wet hair from her face. Tomoyo's heart had melted right then…

"Eriol!" called a voice.

They had both glanced over to where the voice was coming from.

It was Kaho, the red haired teacher who was holding an umbrella.

Eriol immediately straightened his clothes, ran a hand through his hair, and put on his calm and collected demeanor.

"Kaho! I'll be right there!" he called

Tomoyo felt her heart shattering and felt numb.

"Tomoyo, do you want us to walk you home?" Kaho had politely asked.

"No..." she said her voice breaking slightly.

She collected her self and said "No, I'll be fine."

She had stood there, in the rain, crying, watching the retreating figure of the man who was her true love, who would never love her back, who would never be hers, walking away with the one he loved…

Flashback to the present

Tomoyo seated herself on the swing and cried, letting all of it out…as it started raining.

The silence after the storm.

Everything broken.

When the rain falls,

The heavens are crying.

I can't tell my tears from the rain.

She had lost a piece of herself that night…

The only piece she had left of herself…

The darkness engulfs me.

I am alone.

As always.
