A Father-Son Conversation

"Sokka I want to tell you something very important," Hakoda said quietly to his young son. His young daughter sleeping nearby, he didn't want to wake her.
"Yes dad?" the young Sokka asked.
"I'm going to go away soon," Hakoda said. "I need to help keep the Fire Nation at bay to protect you and your sister."
Sokka nodded, it was expected, he had heard from other men that they were going to go help fight the Fire Nation.
"Now I'm going to need you to be brave," Hakoda said gently. "And not cry any tears the day I leave."
"I can do that," Sokka volunteered. He thought his dad was rather silly in that request, why would he cry? I mean, surely he was going to be able to go with his dad right?
