My Nightmare

He's there in my dreams every night,

Kids call him the man of fright.

If you die in your dream,

You die in real life it would seem.

I try staying awake with pills,

On your bed there are coffee spills.

One, two…what was that?

There he is with that brown hat.

He's coming for me now,

I must be sleeping, but how?

I can't keep doing this,

He grabs me and gives me a death kiss.

Tonight I will die in the hands of a mad man,

My eyes pop open to see the empty coffee can.

I'm alive but for how long?

I decide to think of a plan while I sing that nightmare song.

The plan is to kill or be killed,

I would have to rebuild.

I started in my room where he would show,

Then down the stairs laid little bombs in a row.

I put on my watch and set the time,

I was going to finish this and end his crime.

Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

I fall asleep quite fast if you ask me,

But as long as I found him before he laid eyes thee.

Of course he found me first he is very cruel,

And this was his world and his rules.

I grabbed him before he could grab me,

He started to laugh with a hee hee hee.

I was smiling because my watch started to chime,

It was time to wake up it was time.

My eyes opened and saw nothing at first,

But he popped up with a great big burst.

Down the stairs I went watching out for surprise,

As he fell down the stairs we locked eyes.

He moaned in pain as I stood and smiled,

He was like a trapped wolf in the wild.

I took out the butchers' knife that I hid,

And I stabbed him further and further it slid.

One last stab before he lived no more,

I laughed and then I opened the door.

It was a sunny and warm day,

I was no longer the nightmare man's prey.
