Chapter 9
It didn't take long for the three women to get to Gold's shop. Emma swung the door open and walked in with Snow and Ariel following behind her. Gold knew something was up because Emma and the gang only came around when they needed something.
"Hello dearie. I see you're looking better. You're welcome by the way!" said Gold
Emma now looked a little annoyed but also thankful. Snow had told her that Gold was the one who brought her to the hospital when she told Emma everything that happened since she got shot. Yet, all she really wanted to do right now was get to Regina and Henry.
"Thank you. I'm grateful for what you did, but we are in a rush, time is of essence, we need your help! We need a way to get to Neverland. Regina, David and Neal used the last magic bean that she kept in her office to get to Neverland already. They left us behind because I was unconscious in the hospital. I need to save Henry and Regina. They've both been captured by Peter Pan, which by the way, I'm still trying to get used to. In all the storybooks I've read about Peter Pan, he was good. Not evil. So this is definitely all new to me."
Gold just stared at Emma for a few seconds before replying.
"Did you just say Neal? As in my boy Neal went to Neverland?"
"Yes! That's correct. So if you want Neal back here with you, then help us find a way to Neverland now!"
Gold now looked like there was a bit of panic in his eyes. Especially now that he had just found his son. He was not going to lose Neal again, he had to go and find him again. This was not what he signed up for. But for Neal, he'll do anything. Only this time, he really had no idea how to get to Neverland without a magic bean to open up a portal and he only had one left. But it was a bean without magic in it. This was certainly an unfortunate inconvenience.
"There's no way I can get to Neverland. Not without a working magic bean and all I have is a magic bean that was destroyed when Cora and Regina destroyed all the remaining magic beans. I kept only one, just for safekeeping. Trying to see if I could somehow revive it one day!"
Emma was now starting to panic again. She started breathing fast and she couldn't control her actions.
"This can't be happening! This cannot be happening! Let me see the bean! I wanna see the bean!"
Gold now started to look concerned. He had never seen Emma act like this. Not in all the time he had known her. This was a first for him and for everyone to be honest.
"What good would that do? It's a useless bean!"
"Just let me see it. I'm the Savior, which means I might be able to put magic into it to make it work. Right?" Emma said, all wide-eyed and still panicking.
"It may work and it may not work. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't work dearie. Magic is sometimes unpredictable. But if this doesn't work, rest assured that I will try to find a way to Neverland. I won't lose my boy again."
Gold then took out the bean from the pocket that he had kept it in and gave it to Emma. He wasn't sure if this was going to work but he figured that it was worth a shot at least.
Emma took the bean from Gold and looked at it. She then held it tightly in her right hand and closed her eyes. She focused on her breathing. Trying to calm herself down, so she could try to use her magic to revive the bean. After a few moments, she slowly calmed down and started focusing on wanting the magic bean to work. About wanting the magic bean to have magic so it can be used. She wanted it with all her might. Yet nothing seemed to be happening.
Emma tried and tried for about 5 minutes to revive the magic bean with no success and that's when she finally started to break down in tears. She started thinking about Henry and Regina. Only, her thoughts were more focused on Regina than Henry at the moment. She didn't know why.
Emma's thoughts began to pull her into a moment in the past again. The same moment in time that woke her up not to long ago. Only this time, she wasn't remembering it from the very beginning. She was remembering only when Regina pulled her in for a kiss.
Emma remembers feeling odd for a few seconds into the kiss, because she felt that it was weird for Regina to be kissing her, knowing that meant that Regina had feelings for her. Yet, as Regina's lips slowly started to move around her lips as she kissed her, Emma began to enjoy it. She began to slowly kiss back. She wasn't sure why she felt like this. When she first met Regina, they didn't get along whatsoever. It didn't take until after the curse broke that Emma thought Regina deserved a second chance for Henry's sake. Only as time went on, she bonded with Regina as a friend. Learned to slowly trust her a little more each day.
Yet, right as Regina kissed her, everything changed. She could feel her heart beginning to race, faster than what her heartbeat originally was like before the kissing started. That's only ever happened when she kissed Neal for the first time, about 11 years ago. But here she was, kissing Regina with her heart racing and that's when she realized that she had feelings for the burnet all along. They were buried deep. Until the kiss awoke them.
Emma then slowly started coming out of her thoughts and that's when tears fled down from her eyes hysterically. The thought of never being able to kiss Regina's soft lips again made her want to cry. The thought of Emma not being able to see Henry's sweet crooked smile again made her want to cry. The thought of the little family she formed, within the year of her arrival, gone forever made her cry. She couldn't bare it anymore.
Snow immediately hugged her daughter as she was crying. Emma wanted so badly to get to Neverland to rescue Regina and Henry. Emma opened her hand up to see the useless bean one last time as she was still crying. Tears rolling down her face.
A few of Emma's tears fell onto the bean and suddenly the bean started glowing red. It grew a few sizes bigger as it started glowing and after a few moments, the bean looked like it should. It was fully restored to its original condition.
"Oh my god Emma it worked! Your tears revived the bean's magic. Pure love! The most powerful magic of all." said Snow
Emma immediately stopped crying and looked at the bean in her hand for a few seconds before a smile finally formed on her face.
"You're right. It worked! It actually worked! Definitely not the way I meant it to but it worked!" said Emma, still with a cracked voice from crying.
"Well look at that! The Savior just needed to cry for it to work. What do you know!" said Gold mockingly.
Gold then turned to Ariel, finally noticing that she was a new face.
"And might I ask, who are you?"
Ariel now looked at Gold a little hesitant to answer, but nonetheless answered anyway.
"I'm Ariel. I'm a mermaid. I can walk on land with the enchanted bracelet. I only came here from Neverland to give a message to the Savior about Regina being captured!"
"Huh. I see. Mermaids can travel between realms, so that doesn't surprise me. But normally I don't see any mermaids with compassion like you. Very different from what I have witnessed before I must say!"
Immediately Snow jumped in.
"It's a long story. One we will tell you later. But short version, she's actually my friend. Now, how about we use that bean and we all go to Neverland now and save our family?"
Emma now agreed as did Gold and Ariel and that's when Emma asked.
"How do you use it exactly? I've never actually used one before!"
Gold just smiled and then replied.
"Easy dearie. You think of the place you want to go. Then just throw the bean down and a portal will appear. That's when we all jump in!"
"Got it!" said Emma feeling hope growing inside of her.
Before they all stood together getting ready for the portal, Gold took a couple of items from his shop that he thought would come handy in this rescue journey they were about to embark on. He also magically made a note appear with writing on it for Belle telling her where he went and who he went with as well as to why. Emma then closed her eyes and thought only of Neverland as she threw the magic bean down on the ground, a few feet from them all. Immediately a portal started to open. This time, it looked like a big rainbow hole swirling in the ground.
"You guys ready?" asked Emma, feeling a little nervous.
They all nodded their heads saying yes and before a few seconds passed, they each jumped into the hole. Snow immediately took Emma's hand as they jumped together. If for any reason the magic bean failed and took them somewhere else, at least they would still be together to figure things out. Snow had heard many stories of magic beans malfunctioning and taking people to other realms unexpectedly. She hoped this wasn't one of these cases. Ariel jumped right after them. Then Gold.
