I don't own commander in chief
OK the world cup is on just now, so I am going to incorporate this into my story, only this time it will be held in America and Scotland would actually have been good enough to get through. They both are in group A. The rest of the groups are the way they are for real.
The family were all in the family room, a few weeks had passed since they had met Emily and she had started to get use to her new family and felt much more comfortable around them and had even spent a few days at the Whitehouse. Rod put the TV on.
Rod: The soccer world cup drawing is coming on lets watch it
Elizabeth: Football not soccer
Amy: No it is called Soccer
Elizabeth: Nope FIFA is the name of the people who make football the federation international football association, not soccer association.
Horace: Well what do you call football then
Elizabeth: American football, but no one really plays that, Rugby is better
Rod: I played Rugby once in England I ended up breaking my leg, it is really rough
Elizabeth: I played it in school it is not too bad
Horace: Have you ever played Baseball in Scotland
Elizabeth: Nope I don't even know the rules, we played rounders and cricket though,
Horace: You need to teach me Cricket one day
Mac: OK lets see who everyone is playing
TV Presenter: USA is first out as they are the hosts, they are in group A with Scotland, the first game of the world cup is USA Versus Scotland
Mac: So who are you going to support honey
Elizabeth: Scotland of course, not as though they will win they are lucky to be there
Mac: You do know that we will all be going to that game
Catlin: I want Scotland to win
The day of the world cup opening game finally came it was going to be held in DC in the Robert F Kennedy Memorial stadium. Elizabeth came out of her room with a Scotland strip on.
Rod: You can't wear that
Elizabeth: Why not
Rod: You are going to the football with the President of the United States, we will be sitting with many American dignitaries and you can not let them think that you are supporting the opposite team
Elizabeth: What so maybe I should just not talk so people can't hear my accent
Mac: Rod everyone knows that Elizabeth and Catlin are Scottish and I don't think that anyone is going to bother if she supports Scotland.
Elizabeth: I will take it off
Horace: They are going to get beat anyway America is going to win
Elizabeth: Is Emily coming
Mac: No she has an exam today, she can't make it
The first family left for the opening ceremony and once they got there they were in a special box and some reporters came up to talk to the first family, there were also some reporters for British TV.
Reporter: So are you looking forward to today's game Ma'am
Mac: Yes it will be very good,
Reporter: I take it there is some conflict in your home about who should win
Mac: You could say that,
The Scottish reporter turned to Elizabeth
Reporter: So who do you want to win this game
Elizabeth: I want Scotland and America to go through to the next round
Reporter: So you are sitting on the fence,
The opening ceremony was under way with all of the countries who were participating doing a performance.
Catlin: Mommy I want to watch TV
Mac: We are watching this honey we need to stay here
Catlin: I don't want to
Mac: Catlin, you know you have to behave
Catlin: I don't want to
Mac: When we get home you are going straight to bed, unless you behave
Catlin sat still now and started to behave and watch the ceremony. The game was about to start and the players came out.
They lined up and the American national anthem played they all stood up and sung along. Next the Scottish national Anthem played, Elizabeth and Catlin both knew the words although the rest of the family never so the 2 girls sang the flower of Scotland.
The game started and Scotland scored first, Elizabeth was jumping around she really did love football and Mac knew she missed it as it was the most popular sport in Glasgow and she knew that Rachel took her to Celtic games nearly every week when she was younger and that she still had her Celtic strip which she wore sometimes.
America equalised and finally Scotland scored the winning goal. Elizabeth had a great day, she got to see some of the players that played for Celtic and Mac even arranged for her to meet them. The family went back to the Whitehouse after a good day out.
I was not going to write this chapter, but football is my favourite sport and if Elizabeth came from Glasgow she would probably also enjoy the sport.
