The family had dinner that night, Mac was glad she asked Kelly to come on holiday with the family, the kids all got on with her and Mac and her never got to spend time as friends like they used to.
Elizabeth: Can we go to one of my friends houses tonight
Rod: I think we should all spend tonight as a family
Elizabeth: Please, Julie is my best friend and she is having an end of school fancy dress party, I haven't seen anyone for ages
Mac: Who is going
Rebecca: Me and Horace want to go to
Mac: OK as long as...
Rebecca: we know the rules and we will be in for 10
Elizabeth: Thanks I need to go and get ready I am going as a witch, Rebecca there should be some fancy dress costumes in the hall cupboard. Horace I don't know what you are going to go as
Horace: You never said it was Fancy dress, I guess I can go as an FBI agent, I just need a black suit and sun glasses
The 3 older kids went to their rooms to get ready, Elizabeth was very excited. She passed her Aunt and Uncles room and looked inside, there was different wall paper, but it still reminded her of her Mum, She then walked to the bathroom door, it looked exactly as it did that day 5 months ago. She just stood and stared a the bath.
Mac and Rod were going up to their room, Kelly was downstairs with the younger girls . They walked into the room and could see Elizabeth just staring at the bath.
Mac: Are you OK
Elizabeth: Yes fine,
Mac: Why don't you come over and sit down
Elizabeth: I am OK I need to get ready
Rod: OK, but remember we are here if you need us
Elizabeth left the room and went to her own room, she got changed into a Witches costume and met Rebecca and Horace downstairs.
Elizabeth: Are we ready to go
Rebecca: Yep lets go
Kelly: have a nice night
Horace: What are you going to do tonight Kelly
Kelly: I will probably just do some work, I have a few things to write before we go to Glen Eagles.
Horace: OK bye
The kids all left and went to Julie's house. They got there and secret service set up a perimeter outside the house
Elizabeth: Hi Julie
Julie: I am glad you can make it, we are going up the hill later are you coming
Horace: What is the hill
Elizabeth pointed out of a window to a bill hill covered in trees,
Elizabeth: it is up there, everyone goes up there on a Friday night, to drink
Horace: I am up for that if we can get away from them
Julie: Why don't you all put on a different costume, I mean they think you are a witch, and FBI agent and a fairy, I have costumes here you can use and wigs.
Rebecca: Sounds great
The kids were all having a great time when an older guy came into the room
Julie brought him over to them
Julie: Do you remember Jamie Mitchell
Elizabeth: Yeah
Julie: This is his older brother Gary
Elizabeth: Hi Gary
Gary: Hay,
Julie: He is a tattooist and body piercer, he will do something for you if you want
Rebecca: Seriously I have always wanted a Tattoo, can you really do one on me
Gary: Sure what do you want
Rebecca: I want a flower on my hip
Rebecca went away into a bed room with Gary and came out with a tattoo.
Elizabeth: Lets see it
Rebecca lifted her top and showed her the tattoo
Eliazbeth: That look so cool, I am next, can you pierce my belly button
Gary: Sure
Elizabeth disappeared with Gary and came out with a pierced belly button and a tattoo on her lower back of a butterfly.
Horace; Rebecca showed me her tattoo, I can't believe the 2 of you, Mom and Dad are going to go mental
Elizabeth: They won't find out,anyway we need to get changed if we want to go to the hill
The kids changed into other costumes and left without secret service, they went to the hill via an off licence were some of the kids bought buckfast( a tonic wine which is very cheap and gets people very drunk).
Back at the house it was just passed 10 O'clock, Mac and Rod had out the young kids to bed and where in the living room themselves. Kelly had went upstairs to do some work.
Mac: The kids should be home by now
Rod: I am sure they are fine
Just then a secret service agent came in
Agent: Ma'am we have lost the children
Mac: What, how do you lose my children
Rod: I SUGGEST THAT YOU FIND THEM.
Agent: We are certain that they changed into a different costume before leaving the house.
They got to the hill and got very drunk. A few police cars drove up to the top and when they got there, they took all of the kids aside and got there addresses. They knew now there was no way out of this, there Parents would find out.
About midnight in the house and Mac and Rod were besides themselves with worry, the secret service were searching everywhere for the kids. Kelly had even tried phoning them, but they did not answer there phones. Just then the doorbell rang. Kelly went to it and answered to see the 3 teenagers and 2 police officers.
Kelly: Hi
Office: Are these your children
Mac came into the hallway
Mac: No constable they are mines
Officer: Madam President, I found them on the hill, they are a little drunk
Rod came out
Rod: What is going on are the Kids OK
Mac: They are just drunk
Rod: WHAT, I WANT YOU 3 IN THE LIVING ROOM NOW
Mac: Calm down Rod, Thank you for bringing them home officer
Officer: This is the first time Ma'am, but if they get caught again then they will be arrested
Mac: I understand and I can assure you that this will not happen again
Officer: Good night Ma'am Mr Calloway
The kids had now managed to get into the living room
Rod: I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU 3 WERE PLAYING AT, GETTING BROUGHT HOME BY THE POLICE
Catlin could hear Rod shouting and it reminded her of when her father used to shout at Elizabeth, he always ended up hurting her and she was scared it would happen again, her new Daddy seemed so nice and had never really shouted much before. She got out of her bed and descended the stairs.
Mac looked at the kids she could see Elizabeth was very scared, Rod never knew that Rick had hit her before.
Mac: Rod can you calm down please
Rod quietened down a little, but was still shouting at the kids
Catlin came into the living room and was crying she was scared too;
Catlin: Please don't hit Elizabeth
Rod stopped shouting and Elizabeth ran to her bed room. Catlin ran out of the room into the dining room where Kelly was. Rebecca and Horace snuck up to their rooms away from there parents they knew they would be in for a lecture in the morning.
Mac went upstairs to Elizabeth,s room.
Mac: Honey I know uncle Rod can be scary when he shouts, but he would never hurt you
Elizabeth: I know. It is just this house reminded of me when Rick lived here and I have never heard Uncle Rod so angry before
Mac hugged her
Mac: We both love you and we were really scared that something bad would happen to the 3 of you tonight
Elizabeth: I am sorry we just got carried away, it was all my fault, I knew what I was doing Horace and Rebecca never.
Mac: They could have stopped it I am sure they knew what they were doing. Now I think you should get some sleep and in the morning we are all going to sit down and talk about tonight
In the Dining room Kelly was stunned by what she heard Catlin say, she had known the first family for a long time and could never imagine Mac or Rod hitting any of the kids.
Kelly: are you OK sweetie
Catlin: I didn't want Elizabeth to get hurt again
Kelly: I am sure that your Daddy would never ever hit you or Elizabeth
Catlin: My old Daddy did, he used to hurt Elizabeth sometimes and it scared me.
Rod was standing listening to Catlin and Kelly, he had no idea that they had went through that.
Kelly: I promise that your new Daddy would never hit you or your sister,sometimes Daddy's can shout and be scary, but good ones will never hit you. why don't you go and find him and give him a big kiss and cuddle to make him feel better
Catlin: OK Kelly
Catlin ran off and found Rod by the door
Catlin: Daddy I am sorry I thought you were going to be mean
Rod: That is OK I was shouting very loud, but I promise I will never ever hit you or Amy, Elizabeth, Rebecca or Horace
Catlin: I love you Daddy can you read me a story
Rod: I love you too, lets see what story you want.
The 2 of them went upstairs and Catlin fell asleep half way through her story. Rod went into his room to find Mac already there
Rod: Did you know that Rick hit her
Mac: Yes, she asked me not to tell you
Rod: If I knew, I would not have shouted at her so much tonight
Mac: It is over now, I have spoke to her and she knows she is safe, don't worry i think it was just the memories of this house
Rod: Maybe we should have sold it
Mac: No she will be fine she just needs some time
Rod: So what are we going to do with them
Mac: Ground them for 2 weeks,
Rod: What on holiday
Mac: They still have a week, besides I was thinking they can go out if one of us is with them, or with Emily when she gets here
Rod: Where is she anyway I thought she was finished Uni now
Mac: She is in Rome with her Boyfriend for her birthday,
Rod: I never knew she had a boyfriend
Mac: Yeah he is called Sean he comes from just outside Hartford, anyway I think he is coming for a few days too.
Rod: Where is Emily going to live now she has finished I mean she has no family in Connecticut.
Mac: With Sean they have bought a house together, the 2 of them are very serious
Rod: Catlin said she love me, she has never said that before
Mac: See she really likes you
Rod: She really did think I was going to hit the kids
Mac: She was used to Rick doing it, and you have never been that angry with them before, although this time they deserved it, but when Rick hit her it was for no reason and it happened most days.
Rod and Mac fell asleep, and the next morning they were going to talk to the kids.
