The next morning Rod woke up and could see Mac still asleep next to him, this was not something which usually happened, normally when he woke Mac had already left for work. He got up and went down to the family room to find Kelly already up working on Mac's G8 speech.
Rod: Have you been up all night
Kelly: No, but I feel the speech could be better
Rod: You are a press secretary, Mac really needs to hire a new speech writer
Kelly: I don't mind really
Rod: Kelly I want to thank you, I really scared the Kids last night especially Catlin, I had no idea that Rick did that to them
Kelly: It's All right they are fine now
Elizabeth woke up early, the sun always shown into the window of this room and used to always wake her up early. She got dressed and went downstairs expecting the whole family to be there, but finding only Rod and Kelly.
Elizabeth: Hi where is everyone
Rod: They are still in bed
Kelly could sense that the 2 of them needed to talk, so she made up an excuse and left the room.
Rod: Honey I am really sorry that I scared you so much last night
Elizabeth was embarrassed she did not want to her Uncle to think that she was scared.
Elizabeth: It is OK, we deserved it, I mean you have never shouted at me before
Rod: You do know that I would never ever hit you or Catlin
Elizabeth: Yes I know ,
Elizabeth moved to her Uncle and gave him a cuddle.
Rod: I will always be here for you sweet heart
Elizabeth: Thanks
Just then Mac came in.
Mac: Hi baby, are you feeling better
Elizabeth: Yes much better thanks
Mac: OK can you go and wake the others for breakfast
Elizabeth left the room shouting at her cousins and sister to get up
Rod: And you Mackenzie can sit down I will make breakfast for the family today
Mac: You are going to cook, I think I will pass I don't want food poisoning again
Rod: Hay it was not my fault we got sick then, don't blame my cooking
Mac and Rod started to kiss just as the kids and Kelly came in
Rebecca: That is totally gross
Catlin: Mommy and Daddy sitting in a tree K.I.S.S.I.N.G
Mac looked at Rebecca
Mac: It is not that when I walk in on you in your room with your boyfriend
Rebecca: yeah,but you are old
Mac: I think that after last nights antics you should be nicer to your father and I
Rod: So talking about last night, we are going to sit down and talk about it after Breakfast
Mac: Why don't you all go and finish getting ready your Dad is going to cook breakfast.
Rebecca: I am not eating anything Dad cooks
Rod: Even if i make mickey mouse shaped pancakes
Rebecca: I am not 5
Catlin: I want a Mickey Mouse pancake
Amy: Me 2
The Kids all left the kitchen
Kelly: I have finished your speech
Mac: Thanks Kelly
Rod: Why don't you two girls go and relax for a while you will have a long couple of days at the summit
Mac: OK lets go
Mac and Kelly went and watched TV, something that neither of them had done for a long time.
The older kids left the kitchen and went to Elizabeth's room
Horace: I am not looking forward to the talk after breakfast
Rebecca: I know Dad is going to freak again
Horace: I wish they would just punish us instead of making us feel guilty
Elizabeth: Becca is your tattoo OK
Rebecca: yeah fine
Elizabeth: mine is sore
Rebecca: it is a bit sore, but I think that was just the anaesthetic wearing off
Elizabeth: My belly button is really itchy
Horace: I can't believe that you 2 done that Mom is going to freak and Dad will be even worse
The smoke alarm in the house went off and Mac and Kelly went into the kitchen to some burnt pancakes
Mac: I knew this was too good to be true. Let me do it
Rod: OK
A few minutes later and edible breakfast was made for the family to eat.
After breakfast Kelly offered to do the dishes while Mac and Rod went throught to the living room with the kids, they all sat down on the sofas.
Rod: all right I want to know what the hell you thought you were doing last night
Horace: We just done what everyone else was doing
Rebecca: And please don't say if our friends jumped off a bridge would you to
Mac: Well would you, I know that peer pressure is a big problem, but I want you to think for yourselves and don't do something just to please someone else
Elizabeth: It is my fault I asked them to come with me, I wanted to be with my friends, I really missed them,
Rod: It was not safe for you to go to this hill, I heard that it is covered in trees
Elizabeth: I know it really well we would be safe
Mac: You were drinking, what would have happened if one of you had fallen into a stream, you could have died
Rebecca: Mom it won't happen again
Mac: No it won't your father and I have decided that for the next 2 weeks you are all grounded
Elizabeth: But I want to go out with my friends
Rod: You should have thought about that before you got brought home by the police last night
Rebecca: This holiday is going to suck
Mac: It is not up for negotiation, but we can still go out as a family, you only leave this house if you are with either me or your father is that understood.
Horace: Yes Mom
Mac: Girls do you understand
Elizabeth: Yes
Rebecca: Yes Mom
Mac and Rod left the room and the 3 kids started to talk
Rebecca: This is so unfair
Elizabeth: I know I haven't seen my friends since November and now I will not see them for ages again
Horace: Don't worry I have a plan
Rebecca: What
Horace: Mom and Kelly are going to Glen Eagles right
Rebecca: Right
Elizabeth: So we can bring them here, Uncle Rod is sure to take Catlin and Amy out somewhere
Rebecca: great idea, but it wont work, do you really think he will leave us in alone, he will make us go with him
All through the conversation Elizabeth had been scratching her naval
Rebecca: Is your belly button all right
Elizabeth lifted her shirt it was bleeding and all red
Horace: That looks infected you need to let a doctor see it
Elizabeth: And how am I suppose to do that
Horace: I don't know.
The kids spent the day lazing around the house and Elizabeth's naval got redder and itchier. Elizabeth really needed to get someone to help her, the only person she could think of was Kelly so Elizabeth headed to her room.
Elizabeth: Hi Kelly
Kelly: Are you OK
Elizabeth: Yeah if I tell you something will you promise not to tell Aunt Mac or Uncle Rod
Kelly: That depends what you want to tell me
Elizabeth lifted her top to reveal her belly button
Kelly: When did you get that done
Elizabeth: Last night, I think it is infected
Kelly: Yeah it looks like it, who done it
Elizabeth: A friends brother
Kelly: you are going to have to tell your Aunt and Uncle about this
Elizabeth: I can't they will go mad
Kelly: It will get worse, you need to get a doctor to see it
Elizabeth: OK I will
Elizabeth left Kelly's room and walked down the hall to her Aunt's room she knocked the door and went in to find Mac and Rod there
Elizabeth: Aunt Mac can I talk to you alone please
Rod: I will leave you both alone
Rod left the room wondering what was so important that his niece needed to speak to Mac about
Mac: What is wrong honey
Elizabeth: I done something else last night, and I need to talk to you about it
Suddenly the worst thoughts came into Mac's head, what had she done, taken drugs, slept with a guy
Mac: OK whatever it is just tell me
Elizabeth lifted her top again this time to show her aunt
Mac: WHO DID THIS TO YOU.
Elizabeth: I am sorry
Mac: I want to know how did it, I want a name
Elizabeth: I can't give you a name, I just cant
Mac: You are only 15 years old you are not allowed to get a piercing without adult consent
Elizabeth: I am sorry can you please just help me it is really sore
Mac called her doctor to come to the house, he took the pricing out and gave her antibiotics to fight the infection
Elizabeth: Please don't tell Uncle Rod
Mac: All right, but the only reason you are not in trouble for this is because you came to me instead of sneaking around
Elizabeth: Thanks
She still had her tattoo, she just hope that her parents never noticed it.
