Why?

Some say Alexander was out when Hephaistion died. If he'd died alone, what would he have been thinking? It's not hard to become cynical, anxious, and irrational when you know you're dying.

Alright, this poem here isn't exactly following the circumstances of the movie, but I figured that since it's about Alexander and Hephaistion, this was the best place to put it. As some tell it, Hephaistion died while Alexander was out at games or festivities for... something or another. This is intended to be his thoughts as he's dying, in that situation. As for whether or not it's slashy... I'll leave that up to your interpretations.

As I lay alone
Longing for your touch
A haunting thought
Fills my mind
A single question
I ask you, why?

You have always loved me
And I you
That I can't deny
Though it hurts no less
As I rest here dying
Won't you tell me why?

I've wanted always to please you
Your joys and dreams were mine
Won't you allow me
One final favor
A last parting gift?
Just be by my side
Or at least tell me why

I know we're bound together
Though I'm losing my hope
When I need only you
When you have at last abandoned me
With my final breath
I ask you, why?
