This fic is based off of the song Indiana by Meg and Dia. I adore this song.
Yes, I know the order of the lyrics isn't right. I was changing it to fit into the story.
Indiana
"I can do whatever I want like you."
Up. Crash! Up. Crash!
"House! Stop her, please!"
Up. Crash!
I can do whatever I want like you.
To stop her would be cruel. She was fighting as I gave up.
And I can do whatever I want like you.
Crash! "House! For god's sake!" Cameron stomped her foot and glared at me angrily.
Like you.
No. I can't. It's not right. She's the strong one. I can't.
She begins to die.
She grunted as she used her right leg and both arms to hoist herself back to her feet. Moving into a familiar Martial Arts stance, she stepped with her left to kick with her right. But her knee buckled half-way through and she fell to the ground again. Foreman ran over to her. He grabbed her by the elbow but she roughly pushed him away.
"I can do this!" She screamed.
Indiana that's not right.
The neurologist regained his footing and his speech. "But you're tendons haven't healed. You need progressive therapy in order for them to-"
"Fuck you!" She yelled. "I don't care what you think I need! What I need is to do this my way!"
Indiana that's not life.
She struggled to her feet again. Her bangs clung to her forehead as sweat began to bead. Her breath was shallow and her cheeks flushed. Blood was now a dark red on her chin where she had scraped it from a previous attempt at the kick.
A tumor clinging to a person's tendons is far harder to remove than a spinal cord. The cells don't just pull apart and cling back together. And the damage was so bad, even a part of her muscle tissue was removed.
Crash!
I winced at that one.
She begins to cry.
Choked sobs came from the struggling young woman. She growled angrily at herself. Chase gently tried to pull her up but an elbow collided into his stomache, causing him to fall backward into the bed. "Bloody hell!"
Indiana it's not right.
Her reaction time was slowing down as she wore herself out. As she pushed against the floor with the palms of her hands, I heard a whimper and she collapsed without even making it to her own feet.
Indiana that's no lie.
"She needs morphine, now! House!" Cuddy's voice was fading in and out of my mind.
"No! No morphine!" She tried to get up again, barely making it to her knees before her left leg bucked again. She screamed out in pain but then gained control. She grunted and her face was contorted in pain.
Then she begins to fight.
Fingernails clutched at the ground as she bit her lip, blood trickling down her chin.
Indiana make it mine.
But she fell.
Indiana make it mine.
Her muscles were relaxing. She was giving up.
I know.
I pushed myself off the wall and hobbled over to her, twirling my cane.
Cameron's voice was barely heard as she breathed, "Finally!"
She's alone.
I poked her shoulder roughly with the handle of my cane. She twitched and slowly looked up at me. Steel grey eyes bore into my own blue ones. She managed to grab the cane and I shifted all my weight to my left leg and began to pull her to her feet. She took her stance again as I stepped away.
"House!?"
Alone.
"So. Why'd you let her hurt herself like that?" Wilson asked, handing me his bag of ships.
I can do whatever I want like you.
I wasn't sure I could answer him.
Like you.
Oi. I should get some sleep now. I have to wake up in like four hours.
I'm not sure if I wanna do something more extensive with this Mary Sue. I like her.
Review, if you please.
