What you're about to bare witness to is not my story; it's just my side of our story – his and mine.
He has many stories with his friends and his enemies, his family and strangers. I have many stories with other people as well but this story is the story we share only with each other. It's mostly filled with parts that concern no one but us. I love him just a little more because of it, because he let me get close enough to have a story with him – just him and me.
Next to everything else that made him who he was, I was there, making a difference in his life and gradually, without me even noticing, becoming one of the people I only ever dreamed I could be – I was one of the people he loved.
