She stood in the doorway watching the dynamics of the room. There were four doctors sitting around a table. Each with their head bent over a thick hardcover book. In the side office was the head of the department also absorbed in a book. All were so engrossed that she had been standing there for close to five minutes and none of them acknowledged her. Where they all working on a case? She had never seen them so absorbed. She almost hated to interrupt them, but there was another case that needed their attention.
She slowly walked into the office off to the side. "House." She said softly, as to not startle the man.
"What?" He grumbled from the desk not bothering to look up at her.
"I have a new case for you." She held the folder out to him.
It took a few minutes before he took it, without looking up from the book. He held it for another minute or two before opening it and looking at the papers. "Lupus. Run the test." He said turning back to the book in front of him.
"I know that you are busy with your current case, but can't you take some time and help this man?" She was starting to get angry. She had other things to do besides play delivery girl.
"This is a very important case." House said standing up. "Since he was a toddler he has survived the strangest situations. Now he is facing death again. I need to see if he can cheat death again."
"Oh my god." They heard Cameron say from her chair in the conference room. The others shushed her and all went back to their books.
"What are you researching?" She asked as she flipped the cover of the book on House's desk open.
She stood in shock for a moment. "You aren't looking at the case because of this?" She couldn't believe it.
"What? I told you, the dude has lupus. Now leave, we have important work today." House dismissed her and opened his book back up.
She stood there for a moment, unsure of what to do or feel. Looking around the room again she walked out to have the tests run on the patient. She decided that her feeling at the moment was extreme jealousy.
Cuddy wished, beyond anything at the moment, that she had the time to sit and read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows too.
A/N: I know that this is like nothing that I have written before, but I couldn't help myself. Just finished the book myself. I can now get back to reading fan fic. I own nothing so please don't sue.
