Once I left I went straight to Jess's house and told her everything that happened, and she squealed so loud that my ears began to ring.
I laughed when she said that maybe this was the beginning of something beautiful. When I rolled my eyes at her, she smacked my arm and told me she'd call me to tell me how it went with Mike.
The next few hours I spent taking all my art supplies and placed them neatly in the corner of my room.
Once I had cleaned the entire room, I proceeded to disinfect it.
That night as laid in bed, I had a difficult time falling asleep. The bed felt too big and lonely for me.
When it became apparent that I wouldn't sleep, I decided to get up and do some painting.
I ended up making a family portrait of me and my parents. Like I always dream of them. Laugh lines, smile lines, and salt and pepper hair. Just like the last time that I saw them.
When I finished it was around three in the morning, I was cleaning the mess I had made when I heard a knock.
I frowned, going to wash my hands before walking to the door.
Edward was standing there, holding a white bag full of take out.
"Good morning, how long have you been up?" He asked.
"About twenty four hours." I whispered in reply.
He frowned, "Have you eaten, at all?" He asked me.
I shook my head and gestured to my room, turning around immediately and heading to the room.
I heard the door close, then heard as he began to follow me, before taking on inhaling sharply.
"You made this?" He asked.
I nodded, "I couldn't sleep." I whispered, as I rubbed my arm embarrassed.
He slowly moved to pull me into a hug, "Does this happen often?" He asked me.
I bit my lip but shook my head, "It's usually triggered by something happening… Don't worry, I'll probably sleep later today." I reassured him.
"My mom used to sing to us when we couldn't sleep. You want to eat what I brought you and then go to sleep?" He asked me.
I nodded, sighing as he patted my back and pulled me towards the kitchen to eat.
Shortly after we ate, we sat down to watch a movie where I proceeded to fall asleep on his shoulder.
When I woke up, I was in my bed and Edward had left a note telling me he enjoyed our time together and to call him when I woke up.
For the rest of the week, we slowly got to know each other.
His parents came over and we spent some time hanging out before they drove back to Hoquiam.
By the end of the week, he had slowly brought his things; the only things that were left was the big furniture. Which took all of one trip on Jasper's pickup truck.
A week later, I tried not to tear up as we drove him to the airport together in my car.
I was staring out the window, biting my lip and wiping my eyes.
He parked in the short term parking lot, and got out.
I took some time to calm myself before exiting the car and meeting him in the back of it, dropping the keys into my bag as I did.
He led me through the airport, to drop off his bag before he stopped just a few feet away from the airport security.
He then turned and leaned down to look me in the eye. "Wait for me."
I frowned. The words came out, choked out and pained as he looked into my eyes. "I need you to wait for me..." He choked out.
I bit my lip feeling my lips, "I will." I promised.
He sighed, relaxing slightly before he leaned down to press his lips to mine. We got lost in the sensation, feeling as his fingers slowly moved into my hair as the kiss grew heated.
When he stepped back, we were both breathing hard, and he pressed his forehead to mine.
"I've got to go, now. I'll try to call you as soon as I can. Be safe, love." He whispered as he leaned down to pick up his duffle bag.
"You too...Bye, have a safe trip…" I called before watching him as he disappeared in the direction of the gate.
I stood there for a second longer, watching as his form slowly became smaller and smaller, before he disappeared in the distance. I slowly turned, walked out of the airport, before driving home.
