Disclaimers: I don't own Tenipuri, but I do own the poems. So don't reproduce them!
Now as you probably know this is a recap. OK! Let's get started.
The poems thus far (in the order they appear in the fanfic):
Kikumaru – A Wish (Chapter 1)
On a bright afternoon, I opened the window
And looked at the shaded road,
Smiling slightly as I saw a man below.
He tapped the door with a light rap
That echoed through out the empty house.
Getting up I answered the door
I saw most alarming sight that day.
For on my doorstep stood
The fearsome man with a purple hood.
I glared at him unhappily,
For the last time he came he caused a catastrophe
And told me I was the one to blame.
And now here he stood,
The fearsome man with a purple hood,
Smiling as if all was good,
Waiting to come in.
"What do you want?" I wished to cry
He smiled with the usual sigh
Before giving me a book.
The book was titled A Wish for You.
I asked him what to do,
And he replied, "You must quickly make a friend
And ask him what he wishes for."
With a sigh I went to look for a friend
And found a bend in the nearby road.
There I sat in the bend,
While trying to fend all the crazed flies
When suddenly, to my surprise, a boy walked down the road.
It was Ochibi, a nearby farmer's son.
I went and asked him what he wished for
And he answered, "I have plenty of things,
But what I wish for the most is a good harvest."
Satisfied, I said, "Well then, friend, I wish for that, too.
I wish a bountiful harvest for you."
With that I walked away,
Before he could say
Anything else to me.
I went home to my house near a tree,
And looked out the window, watching the sky darken…
Fuji – Perfectionists (Chapter 1)
We are not perfect,
Never have been and probably never will be.
Those foolish ones who say they are perfect
Are probably farthest from it,
And as for those who humbly say they are anything but perfect
Are right because we are all far from perfection,
The perfection that so many seek, but fail to ever attain.
What makes us think we can achieve such an eccentric dream?
We seem to forget that no matter what kind of future is ahead,
It starts at this moment. It starts with our every decision.
From this point on, live life without seeking perfection.
Then instead you could seek out true happiness.
And when you find it you will open a door that can never be closed,
For when you find true happiness,
Only then will you be truly free.
Kaidoh – Winter's Creature (Chapter 3)
As winter falls
Covering the earth
I found
A kind with frozen wings
A tender little body
It was cold
In my fingers
Its little heart was cold
Winter made it cold
I thought winter was pretty
In my warm place
I forgot winter was civil too
The little kind died
I'm sad it did
Inui – Data (Chapter 4)
Data does not lie.
Billiards and bowling are not excuses,
They are simply illogical.
Data never lies.
Ryoma – WhiteLine (Chapter 4)
Hareta sora shiroku yokogitta line
Atarashii tobira hiraita
Sashidashita to wo totie hohoemu
Kasukani kanjita mono wa yuujou
Sekaijuu no kotoba demo ienai you na
Iro de omoi wo egakou
Donna mirai mo hajimari wa kono shun kan
Koko kara hajimaru glory days
I know… Inui's poem is kinda lame. Well Inui isn't the kind of person to write poems so don't expect his to be even a tad bit well written. Besides I was rushing when I though of it. If you liked, then disregard the previous statement.
For the results of the contest I'm having a poll type thing… You as the kind and attentive reader will get to choose your favorite poem! There will be one First place winner and 2 runner ups, meaning 3 people all together.
The translations to White Line as deduced by whoever subbed the anime:
The white line that crosses the sky
Opens a new door
Smiling while taking the hand you offered
This feeling I faintly feel is friendship
Seems like I cannot say with any words
I paint this feeling with colors
No matter what kind of future it is, it starts at this moment
From this point on, Glory days
In the near future (or far future depending upon when I decide to type the next chapter…) expect poems about fish, chaos, and Fuji being mean (well not really… just bossy).
