Guess Who: Part One

LORELAI'S HOUSE

[Lorelai is coming down the stairs into the living room. She is zipping up the extra cardigan she's wearing on top of her pajamas

Lorelai: Cold, cold, cold, cold ! Icy feet, stupid frozen-tundra house! Oh. [She picks up a shawl and wraps herself in it. She sees someone sleeping on the couch, bundled in blankets.

Lorelai: Honey, why are you sleeping in here? Your room is way warmer.

[Suddenly out of no where the door bell rings

Lorelai: Ugh… It's cold go away. [She turns up the thermostat and goes into the kitchen.

Babbette: LORELAI!

[Lorelai opens to door.

Babbette: Lorelai…Lorelai I have to tell you this.

Lorelai: (concerned) What's wrong Babbette?

Babbette: Jess is in town…

Lorelai: Yeah Babbett we know, and Rory is okay

Babbette: …Jess didn't come alone, that's what I've been trying tell you. Jess is engaged. Her name is Laura.

Lorelai: Wh..We..Well how do you know?

Babbette: Well officer Copper arrested them for stealing Jess's car and they were talking about their coming wedding and he told his mother who told Ms. Patty and she told me.

Lorelai: (baffled) Wow.

Babbette: I… I thought that you should tell Rory.

Lorelai: Yeah, that'll be… good.

Babbette: You need any help doll?

Lorelai: No, I should tell her.

Babbette: Okay, bye Lorelai by the way you really need to fix that window.

Lorelai: Thanks Babbette.

[After Babbette walk off the porch Lorelai closes the door.

[Rory comes out of her room

Rory: Why is it so cold in here?

Lorelai: Ahh!

Rory: Ahh!

LUKE'S DINER- UPSTAIRS

[Jess walks upstairs with a bag of luggage and sees that Laura is still as sleep. Then he walks over to her and tries to wake her up.

Jess: (shaking her) Laura… Laura wake up

Laura: Wha…What?

Jess: Wake up.

Laura: (Sitting up on the bed) What time is it?

Jess: 11 or 12

Laura: Okay, you taking your car to get it fixed?

Jess: I already took it.

Laura: (moving her luggage over to the bed) How?

Jess: I pushed it there.

Laura: (laughing) You pushed it there, by yourself?

Jess: I got some guys to help me.

Laura: With what money? And how are you gonna pay for your car?

Jess: What's with the interrogation?

Laura: (Getting her digital camera out of her luggage) This is the wedding ring all over again.

Jess: The one you love and won't take off your finger

Laura: You have NO money. I think that it's (putting her camera down and standing up and moving towards Jess) sweet that you spent money on a two-carrot diamond ring for me , I love that you spend $6,000 but I have no idea how you got the money.

Jess: (putting his hands on her waist) I got the money from Wal-Mart, that's it.

Laura: (using her fingers to count) 1…2…3…4…5…6 (putting her hands around his neck) Fine, when will the car be fixed?

Jess: At closing.

Laura: (smiling) So, what are you going to do while you wait?

Jess: (smiling) I have no idea.

Laura: (with a smile she puts his hands off of her, gets her camera, puts it in her purse and walks toward the door) I'm sure that you'll find something.

Jess: Ha.

Laura: I'll be taking pictures for the paper. By the way I have a gift for you.

[Laura walks out
