Summary: When spring comes to Ouran High School, it's time to reflect. Hikaru-centered angst.

Ifclaimer: If I owned the Ouran High School Host Club, there would be blue, green, orange, and other types of unnaturally-coloured hair everywhere.

The scenery at Ouran High School was, as usual, ephemerally beautiful for the first-time visitor. The petals and greenery attempted to mask the interior conflict of the prestigious school. In the halls and on the lush green lawns, the students of the school seemed carefree and…blunt.

Most of them were exactly that.

But for those who weren't, every envious gaze was repelled and every compliment thrown away. Because they knew they were far from perfect. Their money could not buy everything they desired. Their lives were far from complete.

For Hikaru, completeness had never existed unless he was with his brother. But recently, his idea of completeness had been shifting relentlessly. "Complete" meant a loving family, however small it was. "Complete" meant full understanding of the world, yet a sense of innocence. "Complete" meant the ability to survive, but also the instincts to learn. "Complete" meant virtuous, but not conceited.

To him, "complete" was defined by one girl: Haruhi. Her denseness about herself was actually quite charming. She believed she had everything she needed, and didn't want any more. That was all that mattered.

So, in that sense, she didn't need Hikaru…Hani…Mori…any of the host club as anything other than family. Yet…Tamaki…

They were simply that: a family. Nothing more. Just people who spent two to nine hours a day with each other, working together, eating together, breathing, interacting…nothing more. Although Hikaru wanted it to be more, families did not work like that.

Besides, he wasn't one to fight with Tamaki for someone whose heart was not his to begin with.

Even so, he still felt as if someone had sliced open his chest with a never melting blade of ice, exposing his heart to the world. He'd felt that many times when holding on to his brother at night – when his brother wasn't the one he had wanted to hold on to. Again, families did not work like that. Hikaru wanted to pull his own heart out even more, so he could drown in its pain and his own blood.

But he couldn't. She already had someone, and now the club was in jeopardy because of their relationship. They would need both him and his twin to keep it alive. He wouldn't be able to keep up with the game if his guts were spilling out.

"Incest between daddy-senpai and Haruhi-kun. This should be interesting," he convinced himself, forcing on a smirk before entering the Third Music Room.

He wouldn't just look ephemerally beautiful – Hikaru's beauty would be perpetual.

A/N: Kyaa, so short. I wrote this in Computer Science class while the teacher was reviewing methods and importing objects. Fun.

So that fic was just a burst of Hikaru-will-power! Go him.
