"Ugghh!" I groaned as I threw multiple pieces of clothing around my already messy room. Jake would be coming over any minute to study, and I needed to look my best. Not that I like him or anything; but a girl always has to look her best, you know?

After several more outfits flew around the room, I finally decided on a pink tank top, white Juicy hoodie, and my new skinny Hollister jeans. I slipped on my black flip flops, and then started to walk downstairs. I stopped suddenly and decided to put on some make up. I applied some NYC mascara and strawberry-kiwi gloss. I ran a brush through my hair then looked in the mirror. Lookin' good, girl! I said to myself, and almost immediately, Jake's face popped into my mind. I shook my head, trying to make him disappear. Our friend, Lizzie had always thought we should go out, but we were just friends.

Soon the doorbell rang. I opened the door and gave Jake a good once-over. He'd put some gel in his hair to give it some spikes, and he looked pretty good in a red and blue striped polo and khaki shorts. I smiled, and he smiled back. There was a little awkward silence. It was broken by Jake saying, "So…I guess we should, um, get to work?" I nodded, and we sat down on the couch.

We studied for about half an hour, me sneaking little glances at him from time to time. Oh stop it Jessica, you don't like him! "Stop!" I whispered out loud. "Hmm?" Jake looked up from his books. "Um…nothing," I blushed.

I sighed, "I'm tired of this, let's take a break." Jake nodded, and we pushed our books aside. He took the remote and flipped through the channels to wrestling, which he knows I hate. I gave him a look, and he grinned. I jumped over him to try and get the remote, but he was too quick, and switched it from one hand to the other. I then felt his hands skittering down my sides. I started to laugh and tried to push him away. "Jake!" I squealed. Since we were best friends, he knew all my ticklish spots. "Stop!" "First say 'Jake Adams is the most amazing guy in the whole world and I would die without him!" "Alright, alright!" I giggled, "Jake Adams is the cutest, most amazing guy in the whole world and I would die without him!"

Oh my god, did I just say cute?!

I felt my cheeks burning and prayed to God that he'd missed that little tidbit. I chanced a look at him, and was relieved to see that he'd gone back to the TV. I sighed. Okay, so maybe I did like Jake; there was no way I would tell him that! I mean, it's Jake, my best guy friend, the one I go to when Lizzie is at her mom's house every weekend. I can't just go from his friend to his girlfriend overnight!

Or could I?
